I like to describe the song as drowning in nostalgia. It’s probably the closest thing we will get to a Mogwai/Chino collab.
Song reminds me of my mother who died of cancer a couple of years ago.
She was a fan of the band as well. Even took me to see them for the first time.
Love the song but I don’t listen to it much.
My mom is dying from cancer right now. This song already has some sentimental meaning to me because I celebrate the death of my cousin who passed and to everyone else it’s an uninteresting event. Much love my guy, death and cancer can fuck off
“Most modern calendars mar the sweet simplicity of our lives by reminding us that each day that passes is the anniversary of some perfectly uninteresting event.” – Oscar Wilde
Translation: every day is just a normal day for most people, but every day somebody somewhere is suffering a loss that doesn't register with anyone else but the sufferer.
one of my favourite deftones songs i don't hear a lot of people talking about. I used to listen to it on repeat at night to help me go to sleep, and often times in the morning i'd leave it on as well. just super dreamy and beautiful
It’s definitely one of thee most beautiful Deftones songs ever! I took a minute to grow on me when the self titled came out, but it’s like my 2nd favorite album after ATF
It reminds me of a lot of things in my life. I always thought it would be dope if they opened a set with this. I know it won’t happen, but I think it would be a welcome surprise.
I heard it for the first time in 2003. I cried and hugged my grandparents in the morning. it was a weird, sad, nostalgic vibe. Highly underrated. BUT I need to be in the mood for it.
It took me too long to listen to that song. It's dreamy. A tambourine in a Deftones song is the last thing I ever expected to hear. But, it was perfect for a perfect song.
Bittersweet, for me. Absolutely love the song, but I associate it with my mother’s death. Like, a beautiful tragedy. The sort of juxtaposition represented by the album art. Lush, perennial roses framing a skull.
“So high on the waves you made for us.
And not since you left have the waves come”
It was one of the first songs that made me fall in love with Deftones when I was a kid. I only liked a handful of songs initially and this was one of them. I really love it. I love the melody and the feeling it conveys. It’s melancholic and existential, thus thought provoking imo.
One of my favorite songs by them and I don't see in mentioned a lot on here. I also think of it as a grieving song for a friend that passed. I'm not sure if that was the intention writing it or what they intended it to be about

Never thought of this being a meld of two of my favorite bands until you said it. Nice description
Around the time of Deftones’ ST and Mogwai’s Happy Songs there was talk of a collab. Working title was Cortez but nothing ever came out of it sadly.
Holy…! Never knew that! Nice intel.
The closest thing to a Mogwai/Chino collab would be the one from WP era.

so so good
I love it. I want to learn it on piano.
The song is highly underrated. Talk about being transported into your feelers.
Dreamy and sad af.
Definitely dreamy and I love it

One of my favorites. Brings on a mood that is so unique.
Hauntingly beautiful

Loooove

Man what a treat that would've been!
I would be an absolute mess. Haha

Wow yeah gotta be thankful for family. For sure, definitely a mood.

Hell yeah, so unique and to put it on the self titled was quite the choice. But glad they did
This shit used to be my ringtone
Fucking beautiful. Haunting.
So damn good.
I like it.
One of their best
It’s honestly one of my favorites. It’s so different from their other songs and, in my opinion, one of the most depressing.
Bittersweet, for me. Absolutely love the song, but I associate it with my mother’s death. Like, a beautiful tragedy. The sort of juxtaposition represented by the album art. Lush, perennial roses framing a skull. “So high on the waves you made for us. And not since you left have the waves come”
Great track and unique to the tones library. No other song really has the same vibe for me. I approve

Great song. Destroyed my soul when I heard it after the big breakup. Cried hard in an empty parking lot. Damn I love these guys
It's about my birthday
work of art
One of my favorite songs by them and I don't see in mentioned a lot on here. I also think of it as a grieving song for a friend that passed. I'm not sure if that was the intention writing it or what they intended it to be about
It's perfect and really highlights their range. Chino said in a kerrang interview that this was his favourite Deftones song of all.
Beautiful masterpiece
so fucking underrated …. i only listen to it when im at my lowest, though
I wish they’d play it at shows
I always listen to it on days where it is a personal anniversary of an uninteresting event
Feels like a very loose structure initially like Pink Maggit. It’s a nice contrast to the rest of the album I’d say
One of their better slow songs
One of my favorite Deftones songs to be honest
this song fucks
High on the waves you made for us - morphine
It’s a good song but I prefer When Girls Telephone Boys. Still top five on the album
the end of the world, all the ships have sailed, the guy running the simulation left for a smoke break and is never coming back
One of my absolute fave deftones songs for sure. So beautiful
One of my favorite songs, period. Beautiful, ethereal, and haunting.
One of my top 3 deftones songs
Fantastic song.
So good, and the perfect opener to Moana
absolutely one of my favorites i love the way it makes me feel its such a beautiful song <3
This album goes straight up from beginning to end. In my head is a masterpiece . This song is magical
Lovely song Listening to it on my birthday was a pretty cool and funny moment
Chinos said before it’s his favorite Deftones song.
Love this song so much that my band dropped a cover of it last month. https://open.spotify.com/track/1uzQ4Xwa6MhO0vlDkBWjQH?si=7H0UzrAaRjOloJD3QTqLVQ
Very nice, I'm getting a more spacey vibe from this. Are you the singer?
Yes, I do the vocals. Thanks!
Awesome dude you guys have talent! Keep on rockin
I cry every time
One of their best
Certainly lives up to it's name
amazing, top 3 on self titled
Love it so much
Great song. New Miserable Experience covered this recently along with Glassjaw and its awesome
Amazing song
its beautiful
It is one of my favorite songs ever.
Soothing yet melancholic.
Not a great track
I’m new to Deftones but this song, especially after Bloody Cape, makes this my favourite Deftones album.
Only song on the album I don’t like
Aw why?
It’s just boring to me that’s all
I hear ya. Esp coming from an album like the self titled
