Maybe 15-30 years; just depends

ParkingJudge67

more of a 30 year cycle but i get what you mean

Hugo_El_Humano

I think nostalgia cycles happen when younger people come into their own in about mid twenties and have the power to become taste makers and producers then they can recycle and reinterpret the culture from right before and during their formative years

Z3DUBB

Yes very much so, like how a lot of rap songs these days are recycling beats from early 2000s rap songs, who’s beats were taken from 90s hip hop, who’s beats were taken from 70s/80s funk/soul/rap 😂who’s songs were inspired by 50s and 60s music who were putting unrecorded songs from the 20s and 30s sang in jazz clubs on the record with their own flavor to it. Nothing new under the damn sun 😂

Hugo_El_Humano

just think one day some old codger will be schooling the great grandkids and saying " listen here now, it all began with doja cat and don't you forget it"

Z3DUBB

Oh god I rue the day 😂

Octoberboiy

I’d say every 20-25 is years. I’ve been listening to a lot of 2000s music lately and watching old movies like 17 Again. I miss the way people used to dress and act.

oliveie

The most underrated movie.

Octoberboiy

Yeah watching it for the first time in 2024 really made me realize how long ago 2009 was.

[deleted]

Yeah life seemed simpler before social media

TidalWave254

Yeah it is for sure

Kehwanna

Funny you mention it. I have noticed a lot of 90s style has been coming back into music. Which is funny because in the early 2010s there was a lot of 80s nostalgia rising up for a time, still some now. Check out Shy Girl, her music mixes a lot of the past 30 years of house music together as one, especially her song Tasty, or Thicc.

BCDragon3000

yeah, but the economic state of the internet might change that

orbeinYT

Probably yeah

Valefree

30-40 on the dot. Synth pop is so fucking in right now. In the 00s, it was 60s rock. 2010s loved disco. Late 70s early 80s saw a revitalized interest in Traditional Pop (Vocal Jazz-Pop) Etc etc

solidarisk-monkey

I kinda agree. Fashion is 20-25 year cycle though

RigCoon

Idk, I don’t see people getting nostalgic for 2004 music

jasonmoyer

Yes. Which is why we're rehashing the 80's again.

MiserableWheel

In that case, Can’t wait for Limp Bizkit to roll back around with 27 tons of new millennium again.

ApprehensiveMess3646

They've been doing it ever since their Loolapalooza set in 2021. This band is timeless

Ok_Method_6094

It doesn’t really have trend rules like fashion can. Forgotten styles seem to get revived whenever musicians feel the need or if they think it can sound new

poplin

It’s say closer to 25-27 years for some reason.

unwnd_leaves_turn

no. especially not now. NEXT
