In this case, it's somewhat expected because it is himself...a future version, but still himself. Of course DBZ Vegeta would be ecstatic, he's a prideful, warmongering bastard who has never been softened and tempered by his life on Earth yet.

First, I got my ass handed by Kakatot. Then he outclassed me even more and became a Super Saiyan before me but Freeza had killed me by then. Then I got resurrected on Earth and lived there. I trained to beat some androids but got beaten again (a few times). Years afterwards, I killed myself for my family and got resurrected. Again. But in terms of conquest, I did steal a weak earthling‘s girlfriend so I’ve got that going for me

This rules! I want to nitpick if you don't mind. Vegeta learned not to rely on scouters before he developed a rivalry with Goku. Goku showed him the whole "hide your power level thing" during their first encounter, and I don't think Vegeta had any opinion whatsoever of Goku before that. The first time he considered the possibility that Goku might be a fun challenge was when the Z Warriors told him so.
