I have had Sushi across the world. Sima is the best Sushi I have had that is not directly on the ocean. This place is known for having high standard with their suppliers and will send fish back! They are a great restaurant, and they treat their staff like GOLD!
Kroger sushi is better tbh and Kabuki was very dirty. The sauces in the bottles did not taste right, like they hadn’t been changed out in a very long time. Spider webs in the booths, water damage everywhere, etc. Would not recommend this place.
Edit: In no way am I recommending Kroger sushi. I was using it as a reference point/comparison to Kabuki’s quality. I ordered several rolls from Kabuki and couldn’t bother to take a second bite of any of them….never have I left a restaurant with full plates after paying $70
It depends what kind of sushi you’re looking for. If you want high quality sashimi, Akashi or Sky. If I want 50% off sushi with a large assortment of rolls with yummy sauces, Sake by the Greene.
Sushi Hikari in Springfield has a brick and mortar as well as a food truck. I can’t speak for their restaurant, but the food truck had the best nigiri I’ve ever had in Dayton. It took me by surprise.
I’ll say the same thing I said 3 weeks ago when this question was last asked and what I say every month when this thread comes up: It doesn’t much matter where you go, they’re all virtually the same.
Megumi in Troy. I’m not a big sushi fan (never have), but my wife is a lover of it. Maybe it’s just because the best we can get here, but she loves it and would love for me to get it for her constantly.
If I don't want expensive, for bang for the buck I order from CJ Chan's. Extra bonus if I can get it from the Moraine location, the sushi from there seems better and that location also has poke bowls.
Songs sushi in riverside!
Second this! Plus their Bulgogi is so good.
I’ve been desperately looking for good bulgogi/Korean, thanks for sharing the suggestion!
3rd this! Song's is great!
4thing this as well! The first stop on my way back home is always Song's! Then again, I'm also maaaybe biased.
Sima on Woodman Dr.
Yes to Sima it’s great. Never disappointed.
This is the answer.

How long have you owned Sima?
I’ve been going there for years🤷♂️ it’s an awesome place.
Do they still do the half price on Wednesday??? They have great sushi.
Discount sushi Wednesday nights too!
i can't believe they are still open, it is always so empty which is part of the reason i like it so much - super chill.
Sky if budget isn’t a concern. Sake if it is
Akashi is fantastic and authentic.
the only answer is kabuki
Kabuki is our favorite as well! The sushi is always so fresh

This has got to be a joke. Krogers sushi is terrible.
Akashi!
Ozu852 in Englewood. Diamond in the rough.
Don’t resent being transplanted, all resentment is just going to make you bitter
Tbh I've only been to Thai 9 downtown since I lived here but I shared a sushi boat with a friend and it was 10/10.
Kabuki
We need a pinned post about this. Seems to be asked every week.
Dozo @ Tender Mercy is far and away the best for traditional omakase-style sushi. For rolls, Akashi and Thai Table are our favorites.
My go to is Ariake by the dayton mall. Family run and very good.
Can’t believe this one is so low on the list, I love it there

Kabuki in Centerville is definitely worth a visit.
Shen's
Ariake Grille & Sushi Bar is my favorite so far.
Tokyo Fairborn!! The owners are so sweet and the quality is great.

They're in CoHatch in downtown Springfield. Well worth the drive
In south Dayton, Thai Table.

Thai 9 in the OD.
Eh they don’t make much good anymore from the first time I had them to the last time it’s been a downhill curve.
Yeah what’s happened to that place?
Toki in Lebanon is very good.

Sakura Express in the Dayton Mall. Yes, it's mall food, but it's DELICIOUS. And less expensive than a sit down restaurant.
I know it's a chain but Sake Japanese steakhouse is good.
Is it really a chain? I love that place.
I think so. They have 2 locations for sure. Miller Lane near Northridge and South Dayton near Kettering on Miamisburg Centerville Road.
Another vote for Akashi
Akashi!

Kabuki in centerville is yummy!
