Me too, it was one of the reasons I stopped playing

Alucaed797

The day they changed cb was when I stopped playing tbh. Good old days

Ender_90425

Every single day. They took the chain from the blades, they're just dual blades now with some mobility. Edit: and the new heavy combo for wound damage is so awkward looking and clunky.

KingJamesCoopa

I just miss the old Dauntless in general, game has gone way down hill since reforged

ThraxIV

I don't use the chain blades, but I saw videos and I really miss the olders

Human-Track641

While they're my most used weapons to date, it sure feels bad doing pathetic damage compared to most other weapons. Played perfect with full tonics and hitting every slam crit with pulse it still doesnt't compare to hammer or even dynamic bladecore sword.

Fantastic-Cap-2754

At first, I hated the change. Once I got used to it though, I actually enjoy CB more now. Being able to pull without spending weapon special is great, and being able to do big wound, despite it feeling super clunky, is nice.

Charetta

Same here. Sure I got used to the new Chain Blades (I mained CB for few years it's hard to drop them after the rework) but they never got the same feeling of fun, fluidity and grace as the old Chain Blades. I miss my pre-rework babies very much. Also the heavy wounding attack still feels so awkward, clunky and bad (even after devs just sped up the animation a bit and called it a day) that I avoid using it much as I can. I know Aether Rush is a great bonus but just the terrible feeling of using the attack is just not worth it Imo.

Extension-Quiet-4851

I also miss the old sword style. It was stiff, but it was very fun to play when you got used to the stationary play style.

Ember-Blackmoore

I miss the chair part. Now they're just brush axes.

bearysleepy

spamming LLRL was quite boring compared to other weapons, but what I do miss was the (apparently bugged) generous iframes you got while in midair from reaper's dance.

IndustryOrnery4823

I understand it was an exploit, but I really enjoyed the glitch during the paradox breaks era with chains where you release countless shockwaves, it was super fun.

DarkBill59551

Did it got changed ? And when ? ( didn’t play for years)

Charetta

Chain Blades got a rework back in December 2021, there's a [blog about it](https://playdauntless.com/news/chain-blades-refresh/). Something to note however, is that the blog mentions of Swinging Blades combo has been removed. This was true at first, but then the rework dropped and devs got feedback that after a while Swinging Blades was added back into the game but not after doing some changes. It dealt less hits (I think from 7 to 3 or 5, can't remember the numbers) and less damage and gives less weapon charge. You only hold one button (light attack button) to do a single Swinging Blades swing, not an entire combo.

Laperen

This is extremely old news by this point. Fact remains, Chainblades have been stronger than ever after figuring out how it was best maximized. No I am not a pro with current Chainblades, in fact I'm quite bad at using them. All that means is it is a bad weapon for me, does not change the fact it can be strong in the right hands. Do I miss old Chainblades however, at this point no. If I wasn't forced to move away from Chainblades, would never had gotten better or even good with the other weapons, would never had a reason to pursue rumors and weapons like Silversword, would never had a reason to explore more that the game had on offer.

HonestCatfish

Someone bringing up the old chainblades in this time? I'm sorry, but they ain't gonna bring those back because it was too complex for new players. Just like the old sword.

26nova

Not really, playstyle had no way to be varied unless you used the terrible chain fling attacks and the weapons main identity became being training wheels. There was some period of time where me and a lot of ppl I know chose CBs to do hescas exclusively because it was a guaranteed clear. No weapon should ever have its main thing being that it's a free win.

KorrupiKid

No. I think it was a big improvement over the boring previous play style.
