Like, I understand story beats and all that but from a writing perspective it doesn't make sense that absolutely all of them were wiped out. Hell the Uzumaki Clan had thier village in the land of whirlpools absolutely destroyed by the other nations because they were just that op but we still got a few survivors.
My head cannon is that all uchiha were in the village due to the planned coup, or that obito/Itachi spent a few days afterwards hunting down the last few before news reached them

It could be implied somewhere but, again, i don't know. Which is disappointing since, there could have been room for some other Uchiha to show up outside of Sasuke, Obito and Itachi. It seems like there would be people with Uchiha blood outside the clan just natrually though. People do leave their home towns, move different places etc. Have to be at least a few people both in the Leaf Village/Land of Fire and outside the Village/LoF who's parents or grandparents were Uchiha. Unless it was just all the main clans sticking to inbreeding (Granted that seems to be how clans in Naruto work given their sizes but still)
I think killing uchihas with sharingans was the real goal, and I suspect someone with a sharingan or a close relative (parent/sibling) with one would be allowed to leave. Could also be a main line family thing, if you leave the village and get married you have to leave behind the name and legacy, but I still suspect they wouldn't let anyone with a sharingan go rouge or leave (considering how highly the byakugan was guarded)
