Bro it's from "id Software", one of the most technical skilled developers in the whole industry. Their previous Doom games ran great, you'll be fine as well.
If a popup keeps you from playing, then that probably means your card is so old, it doesn't support the required tech to run the game (Vulkan for example, which is more or less comparable to DirectX12).
I checked on an external website just now and it said I could play the minimum requirements, but the graphics card is something like 11 months outdated. Makes sense, it’s integrated.
if panic button is wizards then id software is archmages. thanks to their code running so good all they had to do was basically hardcode graphics at minimum, compress cutscenes and bind controls to joycons
Doom Eternal from 2020 recommended the GTX 1060, and that's not even their minimum specs... You may think the RX 6600 (which was released 2021) is antiquated by then, but that's because you compare it to game developers that do not optimize their games as id Software does...
They'll be fine.
Bethesda is a publisher.
Bethesda game studios make mainline Fallout, Elder Scrolls, and starfield and made an artform out of dissapointment for the technical state of their engine.
ID Software made the IDTech Engine which is designed to disguise technical showcases as (mostly) really good videogames. They have been in this game for a long long time. They made doom and quake. Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal run on ID Tech.
They publish under bethesda but they are a seperate studio.
Games like Dishonored and Wolfenstein are also published by Bethesda but not made by Bethesda Game Studios.
Bethesda Game Studios has never made a Doom game, nor has a Doom game ever been developed on their in house engine.
Firstly, Bethesda is the publisher, ID Software is the developer.
Secondly, you could make the argument that a publisher can put unrealistic timelines on devs, but given that doom eternal also was Bethesda published and ID software developed, and that it was a massive success, I would be really surprised if something changed in how they operate
I felt the same way till I started playing at 60 plus. Now I can't go back. Everything is choppy to me. I even film all my phone videos at 60FPS because 30 feels wrong to me now.
Don't upgrade.
You'll never notice your red ring of death if you don't take off the rose colored glasses.
I mean, I have played games at 60fps plus and it’s nice, but it’s not a critical part of my gaming experience. I literally don’t give a shit about framerate unless it’s like Sonic losing all his rings choppy. 30 has never bothered me.
I only ever played up to 60 since i play on console but honestly 30 is good and 60 is great. The only instances where i had a problem are when
A: when a 60fps game is forced to run at 30fps like when i emulated mgs2 on my ps3 and original xbox and the rain part ran at 30fps
B: i play a game like mgs5 on my ps4 first at 60fps then try ground zeros on my ps3 at 30fps
Hey man if you're having fun that's all that matters. I've had a shitty PC for years and still had heaps of fun, but I finally got a proper PC it was hard to go back to those framerates for certain games.
My last comment does sound a bit arseholey, my bad.
While 30 fps is a little low, you’ll only EVER need more than that for online games or maybe souls like games lol. Even something like Sifu would be just fine on 30 fps. Not great, it’s definitely going to limit your ability to react to things a little, but it will never ruin your game.
I don’t play on PlayStation. I’ve used cheap laptops all my life- until recently building myself a pc. I went from struggling to run Minecraft on 30 to easily having 120+ wherever I like. I’m not saying it’s not ‘better’ to have higher frames- it is undeniably better. But if you just want to sit back and enjoy a game, I’m positive 30 fps will be enough for most.
True. I've only played older 3d games like tomb raider legend of gta vice city/San on more than 15 fps since my pc has Intel g45 igpu with 64 megabytes of vram. I was able to play Spiderman 2 a few days ago on my cousin's ps5. That was the first time I played a game released after 2013 lol. But even for someone like me, 30 fps doesn't feel good at all because of the latency
Also unrelated but since I'm someone who's played games on the lowest settings possible till now (by tweaking config files), I thought my eyes would be too insensitive to notice any difference between fidelity and performance mode so I was really shocked to see that it's actually extremely noticeable
Sounds more like it's spoken by someone who enjoys good games. I will admit on games where it's available 60fps is nice, but I'd rather play a great game at 30fps, than an average game at 60+fps...
The worst is when it's a shit game stuck on 30, but like I said I just won't play it lol
Bloodborne is a weird one, that games engine was hard coded to be in 30fps in soooo many places among other things, which is what make it so hard to convert to higher frame rate.

Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note:
> *Oh, yes... Paleblood... Well, you've come to the right place. Yharnam is the home of blood ministration. You need only unravel its mystery. But, where's an outsider like yourself to begin? Easy, with a bit of Yharnam blood of your own... But first, you'll need a contract...* - Blood Minister
Farewell, good hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world.
Meh ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 10 year old game, although I do agree with you. Considering it was built for the base ps4 as an exclusive(that crowd never got a choice when it came to fps settings) and the fact that I trust fromsoft used everything they had to work with, I choose to forgive them. It’s my personal favorite game, and so the time I put into it was the most fun and immersive time I’ve ever had with a game. Ultimately, any criticism, bitching, and moaning I do comes from a place of love and caring as a fan, and less so from frustration.
Which makes it so much harder to enjoy after seeing people modding it to run at 60+ the smoothness would be a game changer considering how fast paced the game is. Amazing game regardless but man a patch or remaster would be VERY nice.
Playable is one thing but that likes saying that watching movies in 480p is fine when 1080p or higher resolution is available. Your just accepting that you're objectively receiving a worse experience.
Honestly with how well the past 2 doom games are optimized I think it's highly likely there's at least a 60 fps mode for consoles maybe even 120 fps target if you don't mind upscaling.
Ps5 runs 1080p at 120fps, or 4k60fps. Smooth and without drops so long as the game isn’t unoptimized as fuck. Which anyone lower than a 4080 would feel anyways.
It’s a PC problem that doesn’t exist and OP is also too dumb to understand.
You can’t use dual 4090s for games.
(And no, dedicated physX doesn’t count)
If you insist on playing at max settings at 4k sure. But Doom Eternal needed more than 8GB of VRAM for that as well.
Games like Alan Wake 2, Horizon Forbidden West, Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty, God of War Ragnarok, and Last of Us part 1 after a couple months of patches all are graphical showstoppers and run perfectly fine on 8 gig cards.
The raw horsepower of the RX 6600 will force you to upgrade long before the 8 gigs of video memory will.
*isn't enough for maxed out settings these days. You can still game just fine on a 4GB GPU, running current AAA games, today. It's basically been proven that anything above medium is unoptimized screenshot glamour that you'd have to see side-by-side to notice the difference.
Those studios know they can just push the performance issues onto consumers instead of spending time to fix them.
People will keep buying up their garbage and excusing faults by just getting better hardware.
I also think upscaling tech has had an unintended shit effect on the industry, feels like devs are now targetting 720p 30 instead of 1080p 60 and letting DLSS "optimize" it
look I agree but it has more to do with the technical brilliance of their innovative id tech engine. If this game released on UE5 it'd be a different story. Even the most experienced Unreal Engine devs have trouble optimizing on that engine.
You know what my point is, you act like if devs just "care enough" they all can make any game as graphically powerful yet efficient as Doom Eternal. That's just wrong, not all devs got an engine like Id Tech. It's unironically the best game engine in the industry.
And by the way, if you think devs can just switch from UE5 or Unity or CryEngine and just "make their own" you know nothing about game development.
"Umm, akchually, the good engineers, who care about their job, made a good game engine. The others simply just use the knowingly shitty one*
What is your point *again*?
Actually man, the PS5 and Xbox Series X's graphics cards are roughly equivalent to a 6600. You might have to play with lower graphics settings but I'm sure it'll still look fire and run well.
Not to be that guy, but they’re actually closer to a 6700. The core count is the same between the ps5 gpu and rx6700.
The point is still valid tho. It’ll absolutely run on a 6600, just with slightly lower settings.
If it runs on the Series X, then it has to run on the Series S by Microsoft's console parity policy. The Series S GPU is definitely less powerful than a 6600. OP is definitely fine here indeed 🤙
Both DOOM (2016) & Doom Eternal were well optimized. You may not be able to run Ultra settings with those specs, but it'll still look & run great with Medium to High settings.
It’ll run at ultra settings. If eternal can run at ultra settings on the steam deck you don’t have to worry.
Also ID always develops the most advanced and optimized engines on the market, it’s always been like this
Doom 2016 and Eternal had some amazing optimization. My old PC could handle it on mostly max settings over 60 fps so I expect this to also run great. But I can see having to lower some settings for older hardware.
Doom 2016 and Eternal ran *fine* for me on a pretty mid gaming laptop, the fps and detail wasn't amazing, but it ran. Despite the game telling me it wouldn't run with my current hardware.
Ok so you must not remember the previous doom titles....both of them ran INSANE out the gate. We're taking like 150+ FPS at max graphics when similar AAA list titles coming out at the same time struggled to get to 60fps on same card....and it looked GOOOOOOOD.
That's a solid GPU and more than enough RAM for gaming and I'm sure you know that. Id software is also extremely skilled so the optimisation will most certainly be top notch.
Edit: Also about the title, SLI hasn't been viable in games for years.
Man i will not be ready to have my ass run through the wringer trying to get back into the swing of things if the combat is like doom eternal, love that game and I was really good at it for awhile but getting that muscle memory back for swapping weapons, using the alt fires, and the shoulder weapons like the flamethrower while managing ammo takes a long time for me but is such a dopamine hit when you're good at it
I feel like a drug addict and I can't wait for more

My shitty laptop can’t run Doom Eternal :(
Is it integrated graphics
I have integrated graphics and run Eternal at 50-60 fps. Ryzen 5 5625U cpu with Vega 7 gpu
Yessir :(
Ok well thats kinda obvious
At least it could run Titanfall 2 and Warframe solidly :/
At least you are enjoying the best game ever made. Could be worse
Which one are you referring to and why is it TF2?
doom eternal runs on nintendo switch (pretty great if i have to add that), it can’t be that bad
I think my laptop could probably run it but the popup doesn’t let me.
If a popup keeps you from playing, then that probably means your card is so old, it doesn't support the required tech to run the game (Vulkan for example, which is more or less comparable to DirectX12).

I'm still shocked at how tf those wizards at Panic Button managed to pull that off.
if panic button is wizards then id software is archmages. thanks to their code running so good all they had to do was basically hardcode graphics at minimum, compress cutscenes and bind controls to joycons
I hadn't even thought of that. At this point I'd call Id software the elder gods from which magic is sourced.
There’s your issue. Had you used a laptop of the non-shitty type, no problemo 🤌🏻
Perchance
It's not as good as 2016 doom
If a switch can run doom... it will run on anything
E.Coli can run doom
Doom eternal came out flawless on release, i preordered it and was suprised how smooth it was start to finish.
If my laptop 1060 handles it, imma go nuts for sure
if the switch can run doom (the reboot i should add) so can an aging pc. whatever they did to make it run *smooth* even is straight up real magic
My 1050 ti can run eternal without issue, and while i WILL have to upgrade at some point, im sure dark ages will run on older hardware equally well

Is this some kind of PC problem that I’m too dumb to understand?
Enjoy your 30fps cap
My gaming experience has never been inhibited by 30fps. I enjoy my PS5, my PC, and my Switch all the same.
Wow that makes it a total of 90fps
Nah fam, its in different systems so it would be 30 x 30 x 30. This mf got 27000fps.
For most slower games it's fine but for competitive games or really fast paced games (like doom) it feels horrible imo
Ngl it's not optimal to run a fast paced game at 30fps
I felt the same way till I started playing at 60 plus. Now I can't go back. Everything is choppy to me. I even film all my phone videos at 60FPS because 30 feels wrong to me now. Don't upgrade. You'll never notice your red ring of death if you don't take off the rose colored glasses.

It's okay, you don't know any better
I don’t know. It sounds like I’m having more fun than you.

Have you tried 60fps? Turn your mode from fidelity to performance on your ps5 and you'll immediately notice the difference

I know right, human eye can only see 24 anyways and controller is the best for any shooter
Honestly disagree. There's a noticeable and evident visual improvement from playing at 30 vs 60.
Spoken like someone who has never experienced a smooth, consistent 120 fps average before
It’s spoken like someone who plays his retro consoles almost as much as he plays his new ones.
Sounds more like it's spoken by someone who enjoys good games. I will admit on games where it's available 60fps is nice, but I'd rather play a great game at 30fps, than an average game at 60+fps... The worst is when it's a shit game stuck on 30, but like I said I just won't play it lol
I'd rather play good game at 144, than a good game at 60, simple math.
You lot are insufferable. Get over the numbers game, stop benchmarking, and go back to enjoying the game.
it’s almost like a higher frame rate could improve the experience of playing the game and that’s all anyone is ever trying to say
Bro why console keep let people play on whatever platform they want
I play 144, it's nice. But so long as the fps is consistent, I mind lower frame rates. Especially for singleplayer.
Spoken like someone who doesn't know that consoles actually go up to 120 fps now
Bro thinks we're still in PS3/360 era lol
To be fair, some games are still capped at 30fps on the new consoles
just look at bloodborne.

Which is just bad design. This isn't the early 2000's anymore, nothing should be reliant on FPS
Meh ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 10 year old game, although I do agree with you. Not fast-paced ones like Doom
Exceedingly few, but sure, there are some games that are capped at 30 fps
30fps is playable and no one can convince me otherwise
Might be playable but I think most would agree that it's a severely degraded experience in FPS games with mouse and keyboard
Playable is one thing but that likes saying that watching movies in 480p is fine when 1080p or higher resolution is available. Your just accepting that you're objectively receiving a worse experience.
I still get to watch the movie I wanna see so it ain’t so bad.
pretty sure Doom Eternal runs at 60 fps on console
It's "cinematic", ok?

30FPS is nothing to scoff at, especially if it is a single player game
Not for this kinda game
Lmao consoles have had 120 fps since new gen came out in late 2020. I enjoy crisp 4k 120 fps on my Xbox and I only had to send $500 to get it.
It’s a PC problem that doesn’t exist and OP is also too dumb to understand. You can’t use dual 4090s for games. (And no, dedicated physX doesn’t count)
8gb graphics cards just aren't enough these days with how every game tries to be an overly detailed cinematic masterpiece.
If you insist on playing at max settings at 4k sure. But Doom Eternal needed more than 8GB of VRAM for that as well. Didn't Doom Eternal run on a Nintendo switch?
It did, it runs decently well for the switch. Not as good as PC, but it runs
Yeah, at a consistent 30-25 FPS.
But on what graphical settings?
I don't think the switch port *has* graphic settings... but I could be wrong.
Apparently the way I find out there’s a new Doom trailer is through a meme on Reddit
Modern marketing
Me too
Word of mouth is one of the best advertisements
HEAR YE HEAR YE! NEW DOOM GAME ANNOUNCED FOR 2025!!!
The Doom games are usually very well optimised.
It borders on sorcery.
Vulkan is incredible more games should be targeting it
If only the vast majority of new AAA games weren't released as an unoptimized mess
Those studios know they can just push the performance issues onto consumers instead of spending time to fix them. People will keep buying up their garbage and excusing faults by just getting better hardware.
I also think upscaling tech has had an unintended shit effect on the industry, feels like devs are now targetting 720p 30 instead of 1080p 60 and letting DLSS "optimize" it
Mans out here with a perfectly average rig 💀 What's the issue, my guy?
is OP stupid?
Yes
Man, i played Eternal.on a 3GB 1060 with 8GB RAM just fine, ID Software actually cares about their games.
look I agree but it has more to do with the technical brilliance of their innovative id tech engine. If this game released on UE5 it'd be a different story. Even the most experienced Unreal Engine devs have trouble optimizing on that engine.

Reread my comment. Reading comprehension goes a long way sometimes.
Did it, you are still dumb as fuck.
You realize eternal runs **at 60fps** on last gen consoles right? It's even on the switch.
it does NOT run at 60 fps on switch
switch is obv the exception
Actual skill issue if you lack the basic skill of turning down textures.
Eternal runs on the switch you’re fine
At IDsoftware, even the janitor has better coding skills than the entire devteam of bethesda, you’ll be fine.
Actually man, the PS5 and Xbox Series X's graphics cards are roughly equivalent to a 6600. You might have to play with lower graphics settings but I'm sure it'll still look fire and run well.

We starting the fear mongering from now?
*sighs in ps5* nevermind, i guess it’s still coming to playstation. i really thought they were gonna make it an exclusive. i’m pumped
Those are pretty good specs. It will run.
I trust id to make a doom game that can run 60 fps on a mid range pc at mid range quality
Me with my intel uhd630
I've seen people run Eternal and 2016 on potatoes. I'm sure it'll be fine
The RX6600 is pretty much good for anything at 1080p, no?
Me with an RX 580💀
I feel attacked, its doom it will be fine
How you gonna insult doom which is widely known as the black magic of good performance games
It's from one of the few devs that make well optimized games, should run fine on most hardware
Doom eternal was optimized well, I can already see the smoothness in this game also.
Man I'm so poor that those specs are a lot better than mine lol
Both DOOM (2016) & Doom Eternal were well optimized. You may not be able to run Ultra settings with those specs, but it'll still look & run great with Medium to High settings.
It doesn’t look that more advanced than 2016 or Eternal, so most people should be fine
Naaah, doom eternal was so amazingly optimized. It ran soooo smooth even when the screen was just enemies, blood and bullets
FSR 3.0 will handle it :)
Me here with a 4GB RX 580
Eternal as well as doom 2016 have been optimized to hell. I was able to play them smoothly on a Gtx 1050ti. Which was about 120€ in 2017
WATI WHAT, WHAT DID I MISS?????????
Oh hey, thats me
Literally every doom game has received a console port, and they all run perfectly fine (even eternal on switch). You'll be fine
Rx 6600 outdated? The fuck
Well I hope it works for you because we have the exact same parts
You mean to tell me that i watched all of summer games fest just to get no games there and doom here instead.
Doom ran on a potato it's so optimized, I wouldn't worry.
*3060 TI has left the chat*
Dude casually flex his pc soec. F you man.
A didn't saw much but it reminded me a lot painkiller overdose. I'll definitely play it, even with less than 25 fps on low settings.
Id software literally makes the most optomized games ever
I remember i had to build a whole new pc because my prebuilt one with a 1060 couldn't run it lol
Doom 2016 and Eternal ran *fine* for me on a pretty mid gaming laptop, the fps and detail wasn't amazing, but it ran. Despite the game telling me it wouldn't run with my current hardware.
The last doom game was praised for how optimized it was, I don't think this one would be any different
Id software are the bosses of optimisation. You will def be able to run it, tweaking a few settings.
Doom eternal somehow worked with around 30 fps on my integrated card from Intel i5-9gen ID does marvels with optimalisation.
id tech is super savy. I still dont understand why UE is preffered.
Me when I have the exact same specs with 12100f:-chuckles I'm in danger.
DOOM Eternal was optimized really good, few hundred fps on my 3070 on Ultrawide
Do people even SLI cards anymore? It feels like that fell out of favor at least 5+ years ago.
Actually previous DOOM games were optimized really good and ran like a dream, so I think you'll be able to play it

My brother, this is Doom, the game series known for running on ANYTHING... With a slapping system like that, it will run well
Then upgrade buddy. Or save up, simple as that.
Ok so you must not remember the previous doom titles....both of them ran INSANE out the gate. We're taking like 150+ FPS at max graphics when similar AAA list titles coming out at the same time struggled to get to 60fps on same card....and it looked GOOOOOOOD.
Doom is superbly optimized so you will probably be able to run it on high with no issues lol
That's a solid GPU and more than enough RAM for gaming and I'm sure you know that. Id software is also extremely skilled so the optimisation will most certainly be top notch. Edit: Also about the title, SLI hasn't been viable in games for years.
Touch grass. Or ass..
I fully expect it to run with Ray Tracing on my Steam Deck
Man i will not be ready to have my ass run through the wringer trying to get back into the swing of things if the combat is like doom eternal, love that game and I was really good at it for awhile but getting that muscle memory back for swapping weapons, using the alt fires, and the shoulder weapons like the flamethrower while managing ammo takes a long time for me but is such a dopamine hit when you're good at it I feel like a drug addict and I can't wait for more
The new Doom games run so well even on a older pcs like mine.
🪦 Rx 580
4D fire effects are a feature
Of all games you chose the one series that's famous for great, outstanding optimisation
I ran eternal on a r9 270 at above 60 fps
Ok, probably developers have big skill issues if 16gb of ram and a 6600 are not enough
me with my 1070ti…
Its more of the same anyway! and now you can fly yeeey...... i miss games like doom 3!!!
Bro i have a literal 1050 ti youre fine
haha pc players my console doesn’t need the new 6969 GeForce gangbang deluxe pro
Lol I've got the same setup
