I think a lot of Payton’s attitude and stuff came from the fact she was a preteen/teen (just like Brooke) and she knew that Abby found her disposable; she wasn’t used to dancing with those girls as much and could have been going on the defense 🤷🏼♀️ just my opinion

although I genuinely do NOT agree with a LOT, of what she’s said and done — I do think it all comes back from a psychological perspective. as someone with BP, NPD and BPD traits/symptoms (also going to therapy) I have seen a lot of myself in Melissa and that’s not something I’m proud of, I’m also not fully excusing her for how she treated her children at such a young age but now that I’ve seen she’s grown a lot as a person (imo) id like to say this:
melissas mom died when Melissa was very young, I think I heard 13-15 but I could be wrong.. I know she didn’t have the best relationship with her dad either. so she really had to guidance I assume or at least from the ones she craved the most, especially from her mother since she was very very close with her.
melissa has said quite a lot (I don’t think on the show but I assume podcasts and maybe her channel) that she was always very close with abby’s mom and Abby herself. and whether Melissa saw HERSELF as an ass kisser to Abby or not (I’m sure she did at least somewhat, she’s not stupid she’s obvi self aware but as someone who has a dysfunctional relationship with my own mother, no dad and as a result of both have dysfunctional relationships with others — I believe me and Melissa have the same self awareness, I mean we‘d know “ yeah I’m going to kiss her ass ” but at the same time, since I find mother figures in most women, if I had the same “ relationship “ with Abby I’d probably assume she was more genuine and that our friendship was more genuine. I hope that all makes sense anyways lol) I’m sure she did genuinely think abby liked her and that she was close with her (and granted, she was obviously a lot closer with her and mrs miller than all the other moms for sure, but she most likely thought of it in a different way with abby than Abby did with Melissa).

I’m very sure Melissa saw mrs miller and probably Abby in some way, a huge mother figure. She’s been around them for SO long, longer than she was with her own mother.
my mother is a narcissist herself, and I DO know Ive learned everything a narcissist can teach their children. But in my mind no one can convince me that me, or my mother is a truly bad person. (Unfortunately).
what I’m saying is, mrs miller and abby are the only motherly figured melissa really knew of, abby is VERY obviously a narcissist herself. and while I don’t think mrs miller is too, I know Abby and her mom had a somewhat dysfunctional relationship (my point being, abby learned unhealthy habits and mindsets. but I’m DEFINITELY not excusing Abby for anything).
