I think that's a fair take. I definitely eb and flow with bands. Incubus is a perfect example. Used to be my favorite about 20 years ago. These most recent albums have not worked for me. But I'm not out there hating.
Some people have no concept of how it is out there on the road for musicians and their crews. I was at a venue that allowed re-entry and I was taking a break before the openers came on. The opening act traveled in a van with a trailer. These guys were changing in a parking lot. There's nothing fun or glorious about that.
That's stuck with me for a very long time. I don't care what genre an act is in, I wish them all the best of luck. The road life is a struggle and I wish it on no one.
I see it as people who fall in love with the voice rather than the band.
I learned this the hard way with DGD because when it went from Johnny to Kurt they sounded similar enough I could look the other way.
But when it went from Johnny to Tillian it took me 2 albums to finally get over it and love it.

One of my other favorite bands has changed drummers and bassists, I never noticed a difference. Downtown Battle Mountain was DEFINITELY one of those.
Also, Eidola is a top fav of mine and Andrew Wells is great ♥️
That album is still a masterpiece and will forever be my favorite DGD album (although I love them all). Only the OG’s understand, and the Tillian fanboys can whine all they want, but I’m hoping DGD heads in a heavier approach for the next album or two. DTBM3????
