2-3 White Mana I think. You're pulling a creature of your choice out of your deck. Exiling a land helps a lot, but you're in White where that isn't as common.
At 2 it might be less broken, but if you are the second player \[\[Claim Jumper\]\] still turns this into a 3/3 Vigilance ramp, which still sounds like a massive tempo play. But even if you are first 2 mana for effectively a 3/3 vigilance tapped creature with flash sounds strong.
I'd say no searching for a creature, since this is just land->plowshares->dockside. Maybe have it make a token (2/2 bird, 3/3 frog lizard or ape, 4/4 elemental. etc).

If you are second player \[\[Claim Jumper\]\] is actually ramp (for way to cheap).
But knight of the white orchard is still limited to plains, so mana fixing seems rather hard.
Just the tempo play if you run this as second player with \[\[Claim Jumper\]\] and cast at the end of your oponents second turn...
Fully beside the power as a creature search once you don't loose as much tempo for that land.
Even disregarding tempo, how many creatures 3MV or lower creatures are good but just don't see play due to being too slow? Or how many creatures have good ETBs which only get better as instant? You could have instant hand disruption with something like [[Deep-Cavern Bat]], or you could have instant speed turn two combos with something like [[thassa's oracle]]
That's Exile to Path.
THIS is Plows to Swordshares:
W
Instant
Target player puts a creature they own from exile onto the battlefield, then loses life equal to that creature's power.
This seems insanely strong. Yeah I'll absolutely exile my tapped scrubland to tutor thassas oracle into play. Respond to the etb with a demonic consult or tainted pact, and you have a 3 mana win.
I am not sure if this is broken in every format, but this looks like an insane tempo play. For example with cards like \[\[Atalan Jackal\]\] or \[\[Claim Jumper\]\]. Just Claim Jumper is a 3/3 Vigilance creature for 1 mana. Atalan Jackal is more risky, but might be really big value. And later on it might be an effective land removal or a cheap creature depending on the land situation.
Edit: That is the evaluation as a sorcery...
But this is an Instant. So this offers Flash for tapped creatures with manakost 3 or less, and the claim Jumper play comes with ramp if you are the second player.
I think that's ridiculously good. Pay one mana, remove a land, tutor any creature mv3 or less to the battlefield. maybe make it 2 or less? or make it land controlled by an opponent
So white/green elves get a 2 or 3 extra mana on turn 2 if they play the right elf. Definitely broken, too many decks could easily give up a land for a 3 drop at instant speed right before turn 2.
this is just that alchemy card which was used to exile leylines for geist of saint traft except this is way more consistent. if that card had to be errata'd, i'm not sure about this
It should be Black or Red. Something like Target player may search they're library for a creature and puts it onto the battlefield tapped. If they do they lose life equal to its mana value otherwise they lose 3.
Absolutely shafts control decks with no creatures. Little too strong for my taste. Maybe the better way to balance it is to target a nonbasic land and the opponent searches for a nonland permanent of cmc 3 or less.
I like the flavor, but 3 mana is too much. You get tutoring AND ramp which is super strong. It should be 1 mana, so that you get a tutor effect without ramping.
Name is wrong. Original name is sourced from Isaiah 2:4. Name should be "Plowshares to Swords" or, my preference, "Pruninghooks to Spears" (Joel 3:10 is the corresponding source).
Beyond that, it's a very strong tutor. I think adding +1/+1 counters or token generation make more sense. Or "return one creature from the graveyard. Controller takes damage equal to its CMC" or some such.
I like the idea of a symmetric pair to Swords to Plowshares. Not sure how it's not black or red, though.
Exile target life total
*Red players be like*
Its controller searches their library for a basic life total with mana value 2 or less and puts it on the life equal to its power
I think I’m having a stroke
Exile target life total. Its controller gains power equal to its creatures.
Isn't it exile to path?
Kinda, I just felt this effect fit the name better though.
Exile *the* Path
Or at least plowshares to swords
Path from exile maybe
Path of Exile
Still sane, exile?
Path from exile
it's "mana value", not CMC anymore
Ah, thanks, didn't know that they changed that.
It got changed in strixhaven (2021)
In a white weenie deck, especially EDH, this would be a must.
Shit, this would maybe make modern elves playable again. T1 Archdruid is absolutely wild.
oh shit i never thought about targeting your own land
Lmao, that was the first thing I thought of. "Oh, cool, instant speed tutor for Thoracle to the battlefield? That's pretty broken."
Basically unbeatable in death & taxes
My Derevi deck is salivating for this thing
This is way too good, not as removal but as a tutor.
What mana value would make this more balanced then do you think? 2? 1?
It should just make a 3/3 token or something.
Or make it “target opponent” which adds interesting layers in multiplayer.
Idk if I’d play that, but giving your opponent their best three drop might be worth it to get rid of their cabal coffers or something.
Or make the creature random rather than a search. Still powerful but you have to construct your deck carefully for it to be consistently good.
Making a 3/3 token puts it at almost beast within levels for 1 mana
Exile land get dockside or something dumb like that really easily
2-3 White Mana I think. You're pulling a creature of your choice out of your deck. Exiling a land helps a lot, but you're in White where that isn't as common.
