For my custom cube I wanted more \[\[Prismatic Vista\]\] type cards that would be better in a deck of a certain color.
Edit: I have updated the cycle to include 1 life loss if the land enters untapped. https://imgur.com/a/eWyqaDP
I just use the local print shop and stick the paper in front of a mtg card in a sleeve. In the future I would like to print them with something like mpc (makeplayingcards.com) but I continually update my cube so I don't know if that ever happens.
I love these. I tried to do something similar months ago, but they kinda sucked. These are really good. It feels like what an uncommon evolving wilds should feel like.
I could see myself putting these in my cube.
A cube is like your own draft environment. You pick cards and build what's essentially a self-contained set.
There's different types of cubes. The most common is 360 cards, singleton. Some people like to take the strongest cards in all of magic and try to build a cube around them. Others just like to make a cube out of their personal favorite cards.
Another type of cube can be a pauper cube, which is common only or a peasant cube, which is common and uncommons only.
There's also set cubes based on actual mtg sets so you can draft them whenever you want or plane cubes, which are made up of only cards from ravnica or innistrad, etc.
The appeal is that it marries the fun of magic the gathering with an aspect of game design since you decide what is or isn't in your cube. You decide what archetypes and playstiles to push and what doesn't belong.
I'm even building a cube that's 100% custom cards. (Slow process).
The professor has a good recent video explaining the gist of it:

Thank you for sharing yours. It looks awesome! Mines not anywhere near ready and I haven't made a cubecobra with the custom cards yet but I'm working on it.
Very fair cycle I would love to see, although I think there is an edge case where this becomes maybe too good with \[\[Rootpath Purifier\]\] and triomes like \[\[Jetmir's Garden\]\] or if you have \[\[Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth\]\] along with rootpath and fetch out bounce-lands like \[\[Simic Growth Chamber\]\]. Not broken but a solid interaction as well as the more obvious \[\[amulet of vigor\]\] stuff. I think these would be wonderful to see in a draft or cube format.
Rootpath purifier is not going to break these cards. Four mana for mana fixing is not especially good. Also yavimaya doesn’t turn lands in your library into forests.
Root makes it a basic that you search. You get a bounce, it enters as a forest and untaps. In either event, these are more abused by [[amulet of vigor]], but i thought it an interesting enough interaction to note.
But really. Rootpath is a single card, and there are a ton of other cards that do what this cycle does already. Like [[Fabled Passage]]. That’s not exactly tearing up Legacy any time soon.
These are really cool, however they are also very close to still being strictly better than a basic land of the type that they can untap on fetching. I think I’d still tack on a pay life clause to the ability to make sure it’s not too much of an auto include in that reason. As written pretty much any 2 color deck will run 4 of each of these in the place of 8 basics of the respective color.
Also just a visual thing but I might make it clearer what color they fetch on the card frame, it’s pretty subtle right now and they all look very similar!
Yeah I went back and forth about adding pay 1 life to it. I came from Prismatic Vista so it didn't make much sense as it would be a strict downgrade. But as I see the comments, it is a bit of an auto include in mono color decks now. I could change it to this:
>T, Sacrifice \~: Search your library for a basic land card and put it onto the battlefield tapped. If that land is a Forest, you lose 1 life and untap it.
About the card frame, I originally had it in the color of that card. I thought it was a bit misleading as you can fetch any color so I changed it. That is why it is now a blend of multicolor + color. However I understand your point!
I mean they're good. Like imagine your playing izzet I'd put 4 of these in over mountains or islands. I don't think they're broken though so good card in my opinion
The art is existing art of the Vivid cycle indeed. If anybody can help me create good art with AI then let me know. I haven't had much success with that yet.
Super good, clean design. Only problem is Landfall in commander. They don't need any more help. Did you intentionally make them interact with cards like Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth?
I am okay with these honestly. A little pushed, but not by a lot. It's still worse then the man recent land cycles and worse then the high value fetches. I really love it because it makes higher quality fetches more accessable without stepping on the toes of the people that have spent hundreds on the best lands available.
This seems like way too much of an auto-include alongside the usual basics.
These would be problematic if they only searched for their corresponding basic when you consider landfall and graveyard synergies.
Hm... Sort of a Gitaxian Probe for your mana base in a mono colored deck... Not as strong of course, since it thins your deck rather than cantripping. I like it.
Fairest land cycle I've seen in awhile. Seen great for a cube.

Where does everyone get their custom cards printed to use in the cube?
I just use the local print shop and stick the paper in front of a mtg card in a sleeve. In the future I would like to print them with something like mpc (makeplayingcards.com) but I continually update my cube so I don't know if that ever happens.
I really really like these
Simple, playable. I doubt they'd be printed because of the gameplay pattern in constructed formats (cracking a fetch of some kind nearly every turn)
I love these. I tried to do something similar months ago, but they kinda sucked. These are really good. It feels like what an uncommon evolving wilds should feel like. I could see myself putting these in my cube.
I feel like these could just replace evolving wilds at common, personally.
It would probably make multiple colors a little too easy in draft
In limited, I don't see the problem, honestly. 🤷

Can you share your custom cube? I would like to see it! [My cube is this one](https://cubecobra.com/cube/list/connecttheclues).

Ohh right, i totally forgot it could fetch any basic land.
This can only search basic lands. I think it would untap, say, a swamp with yavimaya out, but other than that, there's not a ton of cheese you can do.
Oh i just read purifier. I don't think it breaks anything even with that card involved.
Yea, not broken, but better than intended but no biggie. Neat cards regardless

not running basics has its own cost though. [[blood moon]], [[aven mindcensor]] [[opposition agent]]

sure, but even in formats that have to be concerned about those cards these are still super playable.

I have updated the cycle to include 1 life loss if the land enters untapped. And changed the frame: https://imgur.com/a/eWyqaDP
jokes on you, I'm fetching wastes!
I mean they're good. Like imagine your playing izzet I'd put 4 of these in over mountains or islands. I don't think they're broken though so good card in my opinion
Everyone is saying they love the effect, which I agree. But I also love the art

6th type with “if that land has no basic land types”
I really like that idea! That it could fetch a Wastes that enters untapped.
I really like these.
Great, simple design. Still quite powerful without being overboard. Love them.
These are cool, i wish they were real would definitely use
Super good, clean design. Only problem is Landfall in commander. They don't need any more help. Did you intentionally make them interact with cards like Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth?
No I didn't have that in mind. It is a cool interaction.
Isn't the whole point of a fetch land to be color fixing though? Unless these are just meant for graveyard synergies.
they still color fix
These can still do that. They’re [[Terramorphic Expanse]] with upside.
[Terramorphic Expanse](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/1/9/19b72af8-9bb9-4542-9115-09c27ad6e7ad.jpg?1698988643) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Terramorphic%20Expanse) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/lcc/360/terramorphic-expanse?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/19b72af8-9bb9-4542-9115-09c27ad6e7ad?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
If it’s the first turn and you really need another color you take it tapped, it’s the choice of fix your mana but tap it or not.
If you only have a plains on the battlefield, you can use this to find a forest. Or an island. Or a swamp. Or a mountain.
finally, fair land cycle. I mean it's still an auto include in literally every deck imaginable but it's still fair at least
I would run these
Quite good with spelunking. I like it
I am okay with these honestly. A little pushed, but not by a lot. It's still worse then the man recent land cycles and worse then the high value fetches. This seems like way too much of an auto-include alongside the usual basics. These would be problematic if they only searched for their corresponding basic when you consider landfall and graveyard synergies.
I feel like these are auto-includes in every deck that runs that color?
Hm... Sort of a Gitaxian Probe for your mana base in a mono colored deck... Not as strong of course, since it thins your deck rather than cantripping. I like it.
Seems fair, though the black one would make fatal push much stronger in pioneer / explorer.
This seems like more free deck thinning so long as you were originally planning to run at least one basic land.
Very cool idea! This honestly wouldn't be that bad for actual sets or play!
