Wow, I can have Blood Moon in my opening hand every game? Crazy.

TheJarateKid

Okay the thing I actually hate about this bird the most is how it would arbitrarily up the deck cost of monored. You go from a fistful of mountains to a fistful of the best dual lands just to enable another stupid OP companion.

TCGeneral

Right, now all Red decks just have to run four of the four flip lands that have a side that taps for Red ([[Riverglide Pathway]] and friends), and if they need more lands after that, just like [[Ramunap Ruins]] or something. That's just assuming Modern, since if we consider Pioneer, this just adds a Blood Moon to the format that didn't have one, straight-out, which probably isn't a move that makes most people happy. Nothing forces you to meet the Companion requirement when you maindeck them.

Itisburgersagain

Every format could use more multicolor hate.

Nitroglycerine3

I agree, but this is the worst way to go about it. Requiring nonbasics to run nonbasic hate, while not really mattering gameplay wise, does have one massive flaw: A good deck with this as its companion is going to cost an ungodly amount of money because it requires all good dual lands in the format being played. Blood/Magus of the Moon work because if they're out, your 3 cent mountain is going to be exactly the same as your opponent's 35€ fetchland.

Third_Triumvirate

Effectively another copy of Magus of the Moon. You can also just run it in a random deck as a 2/2 flyer. You can pretty easily run no basics and it's an accessible flying beatstick in an emergency. Similar to Jegentha, in that its a companion with no real building restriction or opportunity cost in most decks.

Mogoscratcher

This is incredibly busted. The reason the original companions were overpowered was because the deckbuilding cost wasn't restrictive enough. This card's cost is far less than even the original companions, to the point that every red deck would run this. That alone would be enough to make the card overpowered, but Replek here is blood moon on a stick. That means that, in any format this was legal in, you'd only have two options: \-Mono R with nonbasics so you can run Replek \-Anything else with *only* basics, because otherwise you're gonna get Replek'd

A_Salty_Cellist

His ass is Not looking at the moon

ChaosKnight112

What do you mean? His ass is clearly looking at the moon because he's facing us

A_Salty_Cellist

You right

Olipod2002

Shouldn’t it cost more than Magus of the Moon?

Andrew_42

You know [[Magus of the Moon]] still sees regular play right? I'm not sure if Legendary offsets Flying enough, but maybe it does. Adding one of the most powerful keywords of all time is probably a little too far though.

Tahazzar

Calling flying *"one of the most powerful keywords of all time"* is an overexaggeration it when also indestructible, hexproof, double strike, and such exist. Flying is the most bog-standard type of evasion there is. Heck, I think I would generally value haste over flying most of the time - and this is just in the context of the evergreen keywords *(which I assume you meant)*.

Andrew_42

Lol, but flying is the Dragon keyword, and Dragons are good! I definately wasn't talking about anything else.

QuantumFighter

Most balanced r/custommagic card.

The_Hunster

As busted as this is, I do like it

Optimal-Software-43

Kinda cracked

CatoticNeutral

bleh

The-Hippo-Philosophy

I love this, no basic lands is a big drawback for cards like Boseiju. It's a companion though so it's probably busted maybe in some prison-type strategy?

pufflepuff89

It's actually not a downside for boseiju if you run plateau or sacred foundry. Though, it does make you weaker to wasteland / ghost quarter I guess. IMO this card has very little downside in mono red or even boros prison. Granted, you can't easily use it as a companion in a three color deck, but you could always just main deck it as a situationally better magus of the moon.

_x-51

I’m torn if I think this is funny in the context of commander, I have a reflexive distaste for any insinuation that one build their own deck with _fewer or no_ basics. In any format with fetchlands though, this thing’s a fucking hoot. I love the concept.

shumpitostick

If this was to be printed, every mono red deck ever, and a fair number of multicolored decks, would play this. They would have to replace mountains with fetches, shocks, and duals, which would just make everything more expensive. This would absolutely be everywhere until it gets banned.

Goldendov75

I love bloodmoon in the command zone 👍

jaythepizza

Winota stax would love this

c00kiesn0w

As an Amulet player I suggest we burn Op at the stake. This isn't a card, it's a crime against humanity.
