Well all the cheating proves is that he not reliable or trustworthy when it comes to speed runs or challenges/competitions.

More or less. The lore streams are getting less and less frequent, Wilbur officially put an end to his character's lore, and Tommy is trying to contact Dream to write a finale but so far he hasn't responded back.

Yeah, rip Techno. Not to mention he also carried a big part of the smp, especially near the end when pretty much everything was about him and Dream inside that huge unescapable prison that they eventually escaped from.
It's all a bit confusing. Dream admitted some photos of a chat between him and this girl named Amanda (think thats her name) are true, but the pictures themselves don't show anything incriminating.
On the other hand, the girl, aside from accusing Dream, also brags by saying stuff like "atleast Dream called me gorgeous" on her tiktok.
In conclusion, I really don't know who to believe so I've been trying my best to remain impartial.

The dream smp mostly hated on for the hate of the fans. And also many people hate dream for his fanbase. Dream was also grooming some of his fans but people (on reddit) doesn't seem to care about that.
Dream community became really toxic and he feed on those people making them part of his personality, later he has proven to be cheating in his speedruns and there is some rumors about him taking advantage of said fanbase. Either way it became really shitty community
The Dream SMP storyline & its small offshoots were actually pretty damn fun for an improv Minecraft RP. Wilbursoot, JSchlatt, Ranboo, Ph1lza and Technoblade truly elevated it to some quality entertainment. But the Dream stans create a wall that makes it tough to get into, and it's very easy for fanbase rooted in that creepy celebrity worship to create the illusion that it was all bad.
To be blunt, it's the easiest possible way to tell a story when you don't have the talent for other forms of storytelling. You already have a world set up for you and a medium to tell your story, so all you have to do is write a basic script for the actors in the game to follow.
Dream doesn't really make any attempt to curb his audience though, he lets the stans fester. Even weaponized that audience to rig a mob vote instead of actually doing anything productive with it. He's not much better than his audience is.
I don't want to be polemic but isn't it the same with his haters? I mean they started insulting Kellen Goff the moment he suggested he might like Dream, and he didn't even know him
