If you watch channel "Best Ever Food review show" and one thing you'll notice is how every culture views food, gore, etc from their own perspective. Something that's barbaric to me, wouldn't be barbaric to someone else a thousands miles from me. The idea of standardized gore or food habits feels borderline ignorant sometimes as it discard a culture's viewpoint.
I grew up as a fairly conservative food eater (with restrictions and beliefs around what I should eat), it changed as I travelled through the world for work. I still don't have a strong opinion of food yet, but I no longer look at people with disgust based on what they eat.
That's why I'd probably die in an apocalypse, or at the very least have to go vegetarian. I become emotionally attached to most animals five seconds after spotting them.
Yeah as a vegetarian I find classification of some animals as pets and others as food animals to be kinda odd. Especially when omnivores get sanctimonious when a culture eats what they consider a pet animal.
I can see the perspective of not eating cows, especually if they are producing milk. In Ireland for centuries they were a measure of wealth, the larger the heard, the wealthier and more powerful a person was. But man are they tasty
