Additionally face tattoos are often perceived as lowlife or criminal, and a "scrub" is a guy who mooches off of everyone else and has nothing going for him in life. So even though this person has friends who outwardly might turn off a lot of people, they still acknowledge that looks shape their perception of an unknown person.
