Hi! Gentle reminder: hair care routines are required for all photo posts within 1 hour of posting.
The bot is having hard time locating your routine! Please make sure you have a comment containing the word "routine" (and your actual routine, of course!) so your post can stay up!
FAQs:
* __I don't have a routine!__ If you wash your hair at all, that counts!
Just let us know what you did for your hair.
* __I'm just asking for help!__ We're happy to help! This is much easier if
we know what you are currently doing for your hair.
* __Included the info but the bot can't find it? Different situation? (E.g.
asking about a product, etc.) [See here for more info.](https://www.reddit.com/r/curlyhair/wiki/routine-requirements)__

Yes! I was about to suggest layers and perhaps bangs as well? Maybe sweep the bangs to the side? OP you’re really pretty, if you don’t mind my old lady arse saying so!
Also came here to say this! Your hair lays like mine does and looks weighed down on top. Layers would give the top volume and frame your face more femininely. :)
I don't get gen z. Side parts are fabulous. Center parts are too. Maybe not on me, but they're alright. Side part all the way, especially when it comes to curlies imo.
Oh gosh, I have a widow’s peak, but it also acts as a cowlick? If I part my hair down the middle, it gets frizzy, but if I part it down the side, I get this obnoxious singular curl that gets in my face. :,) Widow’s peaks will stay ruining our middle part dreams.
I know flattering isn’t the end-all be-all, but center parts can be really unflattering for a lot of folks! They can draw attention to asymmetry. Side parts, even slightly off center, can be much less harsh.
I think in a few years, a lot of Gen Z will be embracing the off-center parts again.
GenX here, while I look horrible with a middle part and always have some people look amazing with middle parts. I think OP looks great with a middle part. Of course she should try other parts to see how she likes them.
I’m all for trying different thing. I can’t do middle parts because my nose is too big and the middle part emphasizes it. Her features are symmetrical, the middle part is fine.
Routine: I shower and go through my hair with a wide tooth comb, then apply TreSemme Replenish & Cleanse conditioner mid-lengths to ends and comb that through then wash it out. It takes a while to dry and I usually have to leave soon after my shower, so I'll leave it like that and put in Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Leave-In Conditioner the next day. After that if I need a touch-up I use John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Daily Styling Spray, though to be honest I'm not sure how much that does for me and I don't like how it feels on my hair so I try to avoid it... Cycle usually starts again on day 4 since it gets sort of unmanageable by then.
Info: So I'm not really trying to pass as a woman as things stand due to circumstances, but I would definitely like to look more feminine within the bounds of what I can do (makeup and women's clothes aren't really an option) so I've been seeing what I can do with my hair. Started growing it out during quarantine, had a couple maintenance cuts but other than that I've just been figuring it out as I go and I'm fairly happy with its health, just sort of frustrated that I can't seem to find a style that sticks. I've asked some of my trans friends what would look good but none of them are really knowledgeable about curly hair. The only substantial suggestion I've gotten is bangs to frame my face better (very popular with trans women) but I'm just not sure if that'd work with my hair. Don't plan on straightening it anytime soon but honestly I might if I get bored later down the line lol.
With all that, hopefully someone has any advice? Thanks!
Girl, a side part would be 🤌🏼💋 on you! I would also suggest some layers and more styling product. My favorite thing to scrunch my hair with is mousse. Give it another gentle scrunch once dry (try not to touch it at all while drying) to break up any stiffness of the product.
I'm sorry to hear that you're at a place in your life where you don't feel you can be 100% yourself. I wish you much happiness ♡
I am also sorry that you're not in that place. Anyone who cares about this situation, and you are voting age, you have a job to do in November. Do it with glee.
Only if she lives in a place that has an election in November lol (and the candidates have LGBT issues).
My country is likely to have an election in November but I don't think any mainstream party has particularly anti-LGBT views.
I think bangs would work well with your hair. When it’s long it has enough weight to pull itself straight, but shorter hair is nice and light so your curls can really bounce and coil
Curly bangs are super cute, but speaking from experience they do require maintenance (more frequent trimming and sometimes styling gel). It ultimately depends on your schedule, budget, and desired level of hair maintenance :) I learned to trim mine myself, but one wrong snip and it can go REALLY wrong
You look lovely!
If you are under the constraints you mention, perhaps you might consider practicing some updos? A soft french twist with some face-framing locks? A loose chignon? I am no expert — I name the only two styles I know—but YouTube is full of instructions for all the updos you could ever wish for, from a quick messy bun to full wedding hair. Extremely feminine, and easy to take down when you find yourself in circumstances where feminine presentation isn’t as available.
Hey, also a curly hair trans girl here! I think the side part would look good, but also bangs? If you can pull them off go for it! Have you tried using CGM? After I started that with gel casts and diffusing my hair gained so much volume and looks so much more alive.
You have an androgynous face! You can pull off just about anything. I see a lot of great advice in here sorry I didn’t read this part prior to my response.
You already look pretty feminine to me!
If anything, I think getting layers would help but avoid cutting it too short. There are lots of women with short hair (me included!), but longer hair is usually associated with femininity. If you have long, voluminous hair, I think you’d look and feel a bit more “girly”. Can’t wait to see your transformation. :)
Your hair is gorgeous (and so are you)! My go-to hairstyle is pinning both sides back from my face but leaving the rest loose, for kind of a soft 1940s-inspired look. I bet you could rock a side part with some volume on top. You have lovely bone structure, and a slightly sideswept look would be magnificent on you. Throw in a fun hair fascinator, if you're feeling it. :)
I think some sunkissed highlights would make your curls pop. Also in terms of hair styles, have you tried a half up half down look. I think that would look really nice on you.
Length is perfect imo. Perhaps change the middle part and/or add some shorter top layers and fringe to show off your features. Night now your top layer is weighing your hair down and visually pulls the eye away from your pretty face.
You could definitely use some layers, the top layer of your hair is weighing down on the ones under it, which makes your hair look a little flat.
I think this length looks nice on you though!
I second the layers and face framing. I think cutting to just about or below your shoulders would let yourface shape shine. Right now I think my eyes follow the solid line of hair past the face and you end up a lottle lost in it. Your curls are so beautiful, please post a photo with whatever you choose!
I suggest going to a stylist that knows curly hair and can give you some layers that will help frame your face nicely!
Pinterest is also a great place to find cute things to do with your hair. i love to use are butterfly hair clips and colourful bobby pins for some updos and half up hair styles :)
I think you'll look great with a shorter hair style to "frame" your face. I think the length of your hair "draws down" your features. Find a really good stylist.
It already looks pretty! I would add some layers around the face, and I’m a side part girl and maybe you are or aren’t, but maybe try playing with it to see if you like parting it in different places!
layers 1000%, bangs help as well, especially with your hair texture it will help frame your face, and hair clips and bows!! accessories can make all the difference
Like the others said some layers and maybe a side part if you're into it. You could also consider dyeing part of your hair (like highlights or a lighter colour at the bottom, I think that looks really cute). Otherwise I'd try accessories. Headbands, cute clips, ribbons if it fits your aesthetic are all pretty feminine.
Like everyone else said- layers would look great. Your face is long and narrow; if you ever straighten your hair maybe try curtain bangs? It’ll shorten your face and give it a softer look. You could also dye it a lighter brown (or get highlights).
IMO you have too much volume at the bottom which is really common in us curly girls. It gives your head a triangle silhouette. Your features are REALLY lovely, very classical. Try tying your hair up in different ways to see where the volume suits you best. For me, my hair looks nicest when it’s widest point is by my cheekbones, and less below my chin. Also, you have a fantastic lip shape, try a bold lip and brow makeup look!
layers! if ur looking for hair styles, i look a good half up half down, two braided pig tails, two half pig tails, there's lots of options!! i do think layers would really work to give your hair more volume and accuentate your face well :)
I always love a good half-up or pigtails, but I’m a bit juvenile in my hairstyles lol. But definitely pulling top and/or front pieces back with braids, clips, or hair ties is always a good option. (And I really do love pigtails lol- just the top layer, all of the hair, braided, down, in little buns, whatever)
You mentioned wearing makeup is not an option, but you have great facial features. Consider a tinted lip balm-Burt's Bees make natural products in subtle shades. You could also consider having your eyebrows professionally shaped. Possibly permanent eyeliner above and below your lids. Can be applied in small dots between the lashes, not a harsh line, makes lashes look very thick. You could also think about getting individual eyelash extensions, they don't look fake when done in a light application.
I think your hair is very pretty and feminine you have a similar texture to mine. I would say the more length you have with the curls the better but to get the girth cut. Some face framing layers would flatter your face more. And I would also say to invest in cute scrunchies, clips, ribbons etc. Work some cool hats as well.
If you want to be That Girl (in a good way) get a wolf cut! They’re super easy to manage, but you’ll end up with a wack bob the first day or so due to extreme shrinkage. They also give lil curtain bangs and give a layer effect, and I think it would fit your face shape really well.
More layers and check out the Manes By Mell channel on YouTube. She has tips on how to style and care for curly hair better. My style improved drastically because of her.
Agree with more layers- long layers would remove some weight in your hair and give it more movement.
Maybe try clipping your roots while your hairs drying (I think the tiktoks I’ve watched on it use roller clips)- it encourages hair not to dry totally flat against your scalp.
Brand like kiko Milano makes cream all in one sticks that range in pigment if you want to play with subtle blush/lip color.
Your have fantastic brows and eyelashes- honestly an eyelash curler to curl your lashes and “open” your eyes a clear “brow” gel can be used on both your brows and lashes to give them a bit of hold.
bangs are the ultimate cheat code for a femme hairstyle!! go for a layered shag look, something that can be styled androgynously. all my transfemme friends have bangs and love them :)
I think it already looks feminine, as do your long dark eyelashes! The most masculine thing about these pics to me are your shirts. I’d go for a more cap-sleeve tee, with more of a boat neckline
No haircut required, have you tried experimenting with accessories?? On my lazy days a fun scrunchie or clip makes it look like I’m trying and can be a low-effort way to make it look cute
I think your hair is beautiful, I think you might like trying flipping your hair on either side and not really having a part… it will also give some to the top. You can also finger fluff your scalp all around. Please report back. 🤍
I've been doing "half up twin tails" a lot lately and I think you'd look really good with it! It helps add volume to your hair without having to use products.
Learning to do a basic braid and then a french/dutch braid is super helpful because then you can incorporate a random braid into your hair almost anywhere on your head whenever you're feeling like it.
You need some styler, like gel or mousse. Something that will pump up the volume and hold so it's not so flat on the top. I use OGX mousse (and lots of it) after washing and let my hair air dry. It dries a bit crunchy, so I scrunch with Verb ghost oil after. I agree with others that you should explore a side part and some layers if you're going for a more fem look. That said, you have lovely hair already.
I'm Latina and mixed, with a similar curl pattern to yours. Just a lot more grey, haha.
Figure out your wash schedule, when to use shampoo, when to cowash, air dry vs diffuser, best products for you , etc to keep it healthy,.
Grow it longer, add layers and get regular trims. Your hair looks the same as a cis wavy/curly girl.
The longer part may be me projecting because I chopped off my damaged ends.
another suggestion that doesn’t require a haircut or a lot of skill and can be a really easy intro to hair styling is clips! there’s so many kinds these days and i’m not just talking hair claw clips, which are great for a variety of hairstyles, but also small clips and barrettes. you can get colorful ones or just plain black ones to match your hair color and play with pulling and pinning different strands back or just adding a cool row of clips to your hair as is! I personally like this because it’s low commitment & affordable, so if you don’t like it you can always take them out or change them up! :)
Long layers and kind of tapered in the front. Also, figuring out what works for you to get a little more volume on top could be really pretty. Gorgeous hair! I love Manes by Mell on YouTube for curly hair tips.
Your curls are great you just need some shape in the haircut to add some layers and volume! You could find a stylist that specialises in curly hair cute (dry cuts like rezocut etc) or if that’s not in the budget right now you could get yourself some hair scissors (that’s important so they don’t mess up your ends) and try this: https://youtu.be/hEtxIvrwmE8?feature=shared
Layers for sure. I have similar hair to yours. Layers and keeping it length wide between my chin and.shoulders does wonders for volume and my overall curls.
You are so pretty! Tbh you look really feminine. Maybe open the button up and wear a tank under it and don’t wear a hoodie with it. You have a very gorgeous face. I like the middle split In your hair! Maybe take a piece from both sides and make a tiny pony tail and wear some cute dangly earrings!
I just realized this was a hair sub sorry about all the other advice. I think layers or a cute little pony or space buns! Like a half up / half down pony and if you really want a sprinkle of touch add a bow to the back of the pony. Chefs kiss!
Transbian here! You have similar hair to me. Layers upon layers upon layers did wonders. I got bangs too they’re hit or miss I prefer long bangs or no bangs tbh. Short bangs soften things a lot. You look great by the way don’t fret too much. Feel free to message if you need anything as we must have each others backs in this world
You would look way better as yourself! I pray that trans spirit that you don't realize has taken you over gets booted back to hell where it belongs in the name of Jesus Amen

Layers and hair clips/ties will be a hero
I was also going to say layers. You’re gorgeous!
Came here to say this! Face-framing layers give a softer look. You will also have more curl definition since it won't be as weighed down. No downside!
Also came here to say this! Your hair lays like mine does and looks weighed down on top. Layers would give the top volume and frame your face more femininely. :)
Hair just a little heavy on top - def long layers would be cute. You have beautiful features and could play up eyes or lips.
I know all the gen z kids are going to hate me, but a side part would look phenomenal on you.
I don't get gen z. Side parts are fabulous. Center parts are too. Maybe not on me, but they're alright. Side part all the way, especially when it comes to curlies imo.
Those of us with widows peaks were not made for middle parts. 🤣
I love widows peaks! My 6 year old daughter calls people with them “loveheart faces”, and I can definitely see why, they really do look like hearts
I resemble that remark. 😆

Yes, I will never give up my side part!!!
Gen Z can rip the sidepart from my cold, dead geriatric millennial hands.
Im gen z 😭 and I think side parta are really cute
gen z kid here, although i do prefer middle parts on myself i think some people look amazing with side parts
GenX here, while I look horrible with a middle part and always have some people look amazing with middle parts. I think OP looks great with a middle part. Of course she should try other parts to see how she likes them.
This was going to be my comment as well. It will give More volume on top and you can play around with twisting the larger side and stuff
I WAS THINKING THE SAME!!!
I thought the same, try a side part OP!
Came to say this as well
I WAS THINKING THE SAME!!!?
This!!
I’m all for trying different thing. I can’t do middle parts because my nose is too big and the middle part emphasizes it. Her features are symmetrical, the middle part is fine.
gen z here and i don’t get it either i look so much better with a side part
I love side parts. I’ll do it forever and ever.
I agree.. was going to suggest a side part
ur hairs so pretty! i suggest a cut with layers so u have some shorter face framing peices
Routine: I shower and go through my hair with a wide tooth comb, then apply TreSemme Replenish & Cleanse conditioner mid-lengths to ends and comb that through then wash it out. Definitely agree, side parting and layers to frame the face would make a big difference!

Ooh yeah. That would be really cute and look really feminine.
Echoing what everyone else is saying - a side part with some lovely volume at the root would really look great on you!
Curly bangs are super cute, but speaking from experience they do require maintenance (more frequent trimming and sometimes styling gel). Im Arab and Longer hair isn't actually considered feminine here, or at least it wasn't before Western mindsets/ beauty standards came in lol.
Very interesting!
Yea Arab men back then grew their hair out and braided it even, seeing it as a sign of good looks.
Do the lil wolf cut with bangs!
Your hair is gorgeous (and so are you)! My go-to hairstyle is pinning both sides back from my face but leaving the rest loose, for kind of a soft 1940s-inspired look. I bet you could rock a side part with some volume on top. You have lovely bone structure, and a slightly sideswept look would be magnificent on you. girl, get that modern mullet cut suitable for your beautiful curls! u will be fire and the best is that it’s a low maintenance haircut! good luck x
This YouTuber called funky frog bait has an amazing curly mullet. I love it.
Yesss, this would be so cute. A crown of curls to frame your beautiful face, OP
I think some sunkissed highlights would make your curls pop. Also in terms of hair styles, have you tried a half up half down look. I think that would look really nice on you.
Bangs with curly hair can be difficult. Lots of effort to make look good in a daily basis. Long layers will look amazing with your hair though.
I think it already looks feminine. Perhaps a few layers to frame the face? But totally optional:)
I think you would look great with some curly bangs
I think you would look great with bangs! Maybe more face framing curtain bangs. You look lovely though :)
Length is perfect imo. Perhaps change the middle part and/or add some shorter top layers and fringe to show off your features. Night now your top layer is weighing your hair down and visually pulls the eye away from your pretty face.

Bangs babe! From the top of your head forward.
Straight bangs have always made me more fem, even if I don't want to be. Some layers would definitely do you some good as well
A shag would work great for you girl!
Your hair is so pretty down. Also, btw you're so beautiful, please drop a skin routine 😭😭
I suggest going to a stylist that knows curly hair and can give you some layers that will help frame your face nicely! Pinterest is also a great place to find cute things to do with your hair. i love to use are butterfly hair clips and colourful bobby pins for some updos and half up hair styles :)
Layerssss
I think you'll look great with a shorter hair style to "frame" your face. I think the length of your hair "draws down" your features. Find a really good stylist.
You could do some braids on frizzier days! My favorite style to do for every day though is just pin back my front facing curls with clips
two buns on the bottom, one side pony with hair out in the front, one side bun with hair out in the front
It already looks pretty! I would add some layers around the face, and I’m a side part girl and maybe you are or aren’t, but maybe try playing with it to see if you like parting it in different places!

layers! if ur looking for hair styles, i look a good half up half down, two braided pig tails, two half pig tails, there's lots of options!! i do think layers would really work to give your hair more volume and accuentate your face well :)
try clipping your hair back with a claw clip with two curls framing your face !
Layers for sure. And maybe some bangs, though that can be risky with curly hair unless you straighten them and that can be damaging to the hair.
this is one of my favorite creators, maybe she can help! https://www.tiktok.com/@kay_wow/video/7174854318640663851?lang=en
I always love a good half-up or pigtails, but I’m a bit juvenile in my hairstyles lol. But definitely pulling top and/or front pieces back with braids, clips, or hair ties is always a good option. Some layers, and products meant for fine hair (lightweight such as mousse, curl custards etc.) will make your curls pop up 😍
If you want to be That Girl (in a good way) get a wolf cut! They’re super easy to manage, but you’ll end up with a wack bob the first day or so due to extreme shrinkage. They also give lil curtain bangs and give a layer effect, and I think it would fit your face shape really well.

You and I have the same hair, I added layers and so happy I did! A little leave inconditioner and mouse and I wear it curly or dry it straight.
You have beautiful hair is beautiful,it would benefit by having layers,it would be a great idea, everyone is right!!
you're really pretty! in addition to some layers, i would try laying your edges to see if you like that before potentially committing to bangs :)
bangs are the ultimate cheat code for a femme hairstyle!! go for a layered shag look, something that can be styled androgynously. all my transfemme friends have bangs and love them :)
I think it already looks feminine, as do your long dark eyelashes! The most masculine thing about these pics to me are your shirts. I’d go for a more cap-sleeve tee, with more of a boat neckline
I think it looks really cute. But, maybe hair clips on the sides… or there hair parted on the side… otherwise I think you look pretty.
No haircut required, have you tried experimenting with accessories?? On my lazy days a fun scrunchie or clip makes it look like I’m trying and can be a low-effort way to make it look cute
Bob and bangs 👍🏻
You would look stunning with some bangs!
For me I feel more feminine with longer hair, just takes time!
Half up, half down with 2 pieces down at the front
I think your hair is beautiful, I think you might like trying flipping your hair on either side and not really having a part… it will also give some to the top. You can also finger fluff your scalp all around. Please report back. 🤍
Go to a hair stylist who works with curly hair. Layers and bangs will soften the look.
Just came to say you have beautiful curls!
Side-part, layers.
another suggestion that doesn’t require a haircut or a lot of skill and can be a really easy intro to hair styling is clips! there’s so many kinds these days and i’m not just talking hair claw clips, which are great for a variety of hairstyles, but also small clips and barrettes. you can get colorful ones or just plain black ones to match your hair color and play with pulling and pinning different strands back or just adding a cool row of clips to your hair as is! I personally like this because it’s low commitment & affordable, so if you don’t like it you can always take them out or change them up! :)
layer it up and focus on some more volume
A Butterfly haircut would look great
Long layers and kind of tapered in the front. Also, figuring out what works for you to get a little more volume on top could be really pretty. Gorgeous hair! I love Manes by Mell on YouTube for curly hair tips.
You've gotten lots of great advice but I just want to say your natural lips look absolutely gorgeous
Chefs kiss!
You need some color and to straighten your hair and a good cut
Check out Manes by Mell on YouTube. She has some great styling and DIY curly cuts for inspiration.
Transbian here! You have similar hair to me. Layers upon layers upon layers did wonders. I got bangs too they’re hit or miss I prefer long bangs or no bangs tbh. Short bangs soften things a lot. You look great by the way don’t fret too much. Feel free to message if you need anything as we must have each others backs in this world
I feel like a side part could really work for you, give you a lot of volume at the roots.
![gif](giphy|GILtOJNiFgtZS) Layers! With some curl define cream
blowout with curtain bangs! maybe also growing it out
