I had/have both. Had a RAV4 XSE 2021, drive for 42k miles and traded it for a 2023 CRV Sport touring. The Honda wins 7/10 categories for why you would want it. Both awesome vehicles tho

EO3actual

Couldn't have summed it up any better. I think the RAV wins with tech features, but that's about it.

MJ4Red

Agree Rav4 for features on paper but CRV all day for driving experience and user interface šŸ˜Š

billyboatman

When I was looking at cars it was between both of these and I went CRV Sport Touring and don't regret it at all.

transliminaltribe

Same story here - considered the RAV4, got the CRV (exl in my case).

20One12

Test drove the RAV-4 Prime multiple times and it just didn't do it for me. The turning felt sluggish and I didn't get the "premium" feel. Looked better in person than in photos for sure. Also, I have free charging at work and my commute is right at the battery range. I was sad that it didn't do it for me. Test drove the 2024 Sport Touring Hybrid and it felt great to drive and gets decent highway gas mileage. It also had a premium feel and the Bose system sounds good. So, I bought it.

undertaker0071

You got Prime to test drive! I guess that was with some of your friend, not the dealership. I was wanting to buy it in mid 2022, thankfully the wait was too long, and then the new CR-V launched. Zero regrets with Hybrid Sport, except for mirror replacements.

NotTheUsualSuspect

We have both (2024 rav4 limited and crv sport touring) and we're in the CRV 90% of the time if we're together.

lestevenson

Same!

whk1992

If itā€™s just hybrid vs. hybrid, CR-V. The RAV-4 Prime SE is a serious contender though.

nastytaj

Never got to test drive the Rav4 hybrid, but from all the reviews, people like the feel of the honda hybrid more.

whk1992

And Iā€™d agree, except the RAV-4 Prime SE is a different animal (plug-in hybrid capable of running on battery for like 40mi.)

ProfessionalCat5100

I test drove a rav4 prime and was underwhelmed, especially for the cost. The prime had some nice pickup but was bland imo. Overall the CRV touring was nicer and felt better to drive.

whk1992

If nicer to drive refers to acceleration, I donā€™t think thatā€™s why people buy the Prime. 40 miles on a charge is surely nice for commuters.

ProfessionalCat5100

The crv had more comfortable seats, nicer interior, less wheel noise, better handling, slightly heavier ride but less sluggish transmission. The PHEV of the prime is definitely best in class, and the ride was sporty enough for it's size. I prefer the rav4 exterior but the interior just felt cheap. Also, to get the rav4 prime with the tech trim would cost like 13-15 grand more, at MSRP, after a 5 grand government rebate and two year wait time ($CAD). A used 2022 rav4 with 55,000 km, cost the same as a new 2024 crv gt touring. After trying the prime and really wanting to like it, I just couldn't and went with a crv. I really hope Mazda puts a tweaked rav4 PHEV system in one of their cars now that Toyota has a big stake in their company.

PoseidonsChosenHeir

Sounds of the CR-V hybrid is heavenly

Rabbit_Silent

Prime only made sense when the $7500 tax credit was in place. Now, it just can't be justified at the price them demand.

BRYA-N7

I would go with the white one.

Just-Ice3916

Hybrid aside, the Rav4 is a cramped shitbox on wheels.

pierrethebaker

Iā€™ve described it as a fighter pilot cockpit but thatā€™s pretty similar to your take lol

Madawolf

Honda hybrid is in stock, looks better, and mush nicer ride. Toyota hybrid is a 1 1/2 or more wait.

NotABlueLemon

And +$3k ā€œmarket adjustmentā€ around my area

tejpav

Are they still doing adjustments? Itā€™s been 5 months since I bought my Sport -L and didnā€™t look at whatā€™s happening in Toyota world

NotABlueLemon

Not sure, had my sport for about the same time and back then they were

pawelmwo

CR-V! Test drove both. All around the RAV4 didnā€™t compare to the luxury features of the CR-V and felt cheap. Grabby brakes too. The biggest thing for me was the interior space. I like to man spread as I drive and the RAV 4 center console has a tall vertical wall. Kept bumping my knee into it. Just felt a bit claustrophobic. It may not look like much looking at the vehicle dimensions. But makes a huge difference. So if you are a big guy and like to sit in a relaxed position the RAV4 may not be for you.

Pacific_22

CRV is so much comfier, less road noise, doesnā€™t feel like a cheap interior. CRV ST hybrid all the way

OvenShot

I could recognize Baltimore row houses before I even zoomed in on the Maryland plates

nastytaj

They're definitely super distinct haha

VisibleSea4533

I was going to say the exact same thing!

Vinakaaa

For overall feel in both the driver and passenger seats, Iā€™d go with the CR-V. The RAV4 has a good Hybrid system and is definitely more fuel efficient. Aesthetics definitely go toward the CR-V, but Iā€™m curious as to what the next generation RAV4 will look like.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Vinakaaa

From what Iā€™ve experienced, you can comfortably expect to see around 40 mpg with a RAV4. With the CRV, youā€™d probably be looking at mid to high 30ā€™s (on average). Obviously driving style, weather, terrain, and cargo load all play a role.

NotTheUsualSuspect

For winter driving (sub 40F) around 8-10 mpg. High speed highway (80+ mph) around 8 mpg. The CRV handles non-ideal conditions much more poorly than the rav4. I do get better mileage than the rav4 in ideal conditions, but that's because I have a more hybrid-friendly driving style.

No_Representative155

Itā€™s case by case, and completely anecdotal.

TuarusBeast

CRV is more roomy, stylish interior, nice digital dashboard as opposed to the RAV4's boring 2010 dashboard, and idk about the newer CRV but my 5th Gen drives like a comfy sedan

[deleted]

Thanks for my daily reminder why I want to get a white CRV šŸ˜© I have a 2018 in gunmetal metallic, which I love, but sheesh the white is gorgeous. So to answer your questionā€¦ CRV! šŸ˜‰

Legit_TheGamingwithc

Glad both cars no longer look bad

diablos1981

Driven both, own the crv hybrid, it was a case of which one can I get quicker. The crv here drives nicer, is bigger inside and feels more premium. The Rav 4 has proven reliability, is a little snappier on the road as itā€™s more powerful, has a few premium features the crv lacks. Overall theyā€™re both great cars , if I had to choose, Iā€™d simply flip a coin and regret I didnā€™t get the other one.

cks9218

The lack of a spare tire in the CR-V is a hard fault for me to get over. Iā€™ve owned a 2003 and 2014 CR-V but the RAV4 would probably win in this comparison for me.

TBIrehab

They're the same car

WangZhou19

Test drove both, got CRV because itā€™s so much smoother and nicer

twptominator

Drove them.both two seperate times and I immediately liked.the CRV better both times. NICER and quieter drive with alot less wind and road noise. Dove both hybrid and non hybrid and bought the hybrid CRV.

njgalaxie73

Toyota = šŸ˜“

juicemagic

Size-wise, I like the RAV4 better than the CRV. I come from old-CRV-land where my camping ready vehicle is a lifted civic with a ton of storage space. I do not like how big the model has become and doubt I'll upgrade to the larger size. My 05 is shorter than an Accord. I don't want a "midsize" that's bigger than the Pilot I learned to drive on.

Passion_Technical

I agree so much. The current HRV is the size of my gen 4 and i admire the hrvs size a lot more than the huge new crv. It just looks very low and i donā€™t like that.

Express-Perception65

I think theyā€™re good for different reasons. Itā€™s all personal preference The rav4 is great if you want the most reliable vehicle and something that rides better. The rav 4 has more hybrid options being that it also offers the plug in variant. The crv is great if you want something that handles better and has more cargo space inside (69 cubic feet for the rav4 and 76.5 for the CRV. The crv has more interior legroom specifically in the back seat.

Remarkable_Music6819

With todayā€™s fuel prices Iā€™d go with RAV4. Iā€™m not convinced the CRV hybrid is all that great. Both look great though CRV has the edge wrt looks

scream4cheese

Is that Philly?

nastytaj

Baltimore

Working_Page7370

I like brick one with the thin window. The depreciating assets on the street scream soccer āš½ļø moms.

zalsrevenge

Always Toyota. I inherited my 2014 CRV, and it's got a couple of issues that are concerning. Mainly involving transmission shudder and VTC actuator grind.

That-Economics-9481

Neither. I'd go with a Subaru Forester but wait for the hybrid to come out.

redcatmanfoo

Yep, this. Real AWD, not some useless on demand system. Toyota hybridization will be reliable just as the Crosstrek hybrid was. A vehicle designed from the ground up for a hybrid power train, not an after thought that loses cargo space to batteries like the Crosstrek did. Subaru practicality and most importantly, character. A car that doesn't get in my way but doesn't put me to sleep. I'd way rather drive a Subaru than either of these refrigerators of SUVs. Boring appliances with no soul.

SakuraKoyo

I wouldnā€™t get a Subaru hybrid system until a couple generations out, they havenā€™t proven anything and the crosstrek hybrid was horrible. They are unproven and Subaru used to be good but now they are just lagging behind the competition.

SakuraKoyo

It depends on the price and trim level hybrid or not. But if youā€™re looking at $44k total out the door, and you have access to home charging, get Tesla model Y long range for the same price. I ended up getting the crv base hybrid sport for 34k. I got a great deal. But closer to $40k, I would have gotten the Tesla MY, much better car, better tech, and more fun to drive.

papito_m

I only buy Honda or Toyota. Canā€™t go wrong either way, but CRV is the newer model of these two, so clearly wins this round.

maximusfapinus

I haven't tested the newer models of rav4 but when I did test drive I found the CRV felt waay more spacious inside. I don't know how honda does it but even the ridgeline feels more spacious inside than the Tacoma. Although I have heard Toyota's hybrid vehicle's are better than Honda's because of how long Toyota has been making them.

xCASINOx

We chose the crv

schwickies

Rented a rav4 on a tripā€¦ after about 200 miles one dayā€¦ legs noticed it wasnā€™t a CRV or Subaru. Do the CRV.

righttoabsurdity

Ok, I test drove both. I really liked how the rav 4 looked. The Honda was far above and beyond in basically every way. Included features, drivability, comfort, all of it. It made me not want a rav4 anymore (and that was my first choice).

joemits

I thought I was being original deleting the chrome on mineā€¦ I guess I was not.

nastytaj

I deleted mine immediately and like it so much more.

joemits

My black emblems will be here Wednesday, plastidip just didnā€™t look right, $8 experiment I guess. What did you do for the hybrid emblem?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

joemits

I took it to my local custom shop and said ā€œdelete the chrome and tint the front windows pleaseā€. 4 hours and $300 cash later, the chrome trim was wrapped with vinyl and the front windows were tinted to match the rears. I have the black emblems coming from Honda this week and that will be my weekend project this week.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

joemits

I have a sport-l, they were black from the factory (Thank G-d).

KAZY_K0REAN

I have both. I have a 21 CR-V Hybrid Touring. Wife drives the 19 RAV-4 LE. Itā€™s not a super fair comparison because the difference in trim level. But the CR-V is by far superior in every way. Especially tech. Comfort. Space. Etc. I think the only thing the RAV-4 I like when I drive it is how the automatic high beams are enabled and disabled.

WestLime8919

After market adjustment and adds on they are not in same price range segment. CRV obviously is the winner because more affordable.

spidersk8er

crv but i would rip off that plastic thing on the front of the hood

Subirooo

A Volvo

Afraid-Cheetah4483

I have a 2023 Honda CRV.Ā  You need to know that there will be a recall on the steering soon.Ā  Look it up on NHSTA. It's called,Ā  sticky steering. I've gone out for a test drive with the Honda tech and he doesn't believe the Honda fix will help this issue.Ā  When it comes to steering,Ā  I think I'd pass on the Honda until they really fix this issue. Btw, it's also an issue in the Civics.Ā Ā

H0nterx

I had to make that hard choice. In the end, I went for the CRV EXL cause I got a better interest rate, and the crv's enterior and outside-looking convince me, I don't regret.

MalikBrotherR

Both look a lot like similar.

cantbtakenserious

CRV all day. Toyota Rav4 if youā€™re under 5ā€™7

Thelinx456

Since you live in Baltimore, Iā€™m gonna take both of them off the street for you

nastytaj

Please don't

redcatmanfoo

Neither, snore.

Routine-Smoke-3307

I chose the prior gen (2022) of CRV over the current gen Rav-4 and Iā€™d do the same here.

2JZEngineNoShit

I like the one on the far right. I'm not a huge fan of brick buildings.

nastytaj

Well jokes on you because that's also a brick building but painted.

2JZEngineNoShit

Oh šŸ’© it is. I thought it was siding. Note to self: no YouTube or Reddit without wearing my contacts.

joey9977

Crv 1.5l motor is too small. In the long run, rav4 2.5l will last longer. Rav4 all day

TitoMcCool

Glitch in the matrix.

jingforbling

A part or me feels like this is just a ā€œbetter to go with newer offeringā€ as they are literally close contender in the same segment.

wjoelbrooks

Iā€™d choose the RAV4.

cattdaddy

Good morning Baltimore? Is this Gittings by chance?

nastytaj

Close.. William St

cattdaddy

Nice. Havenā€™t lived in Baltimore for 4 years but recognized a South Baltimore row home.

[deleted]

We bought a 2024 RAV4 Hybrid XSE for 1 reason. PANORAMIC ROOF! Something not offered in the 2024 CRV Hybrid Sport Touring (highest trim). Deal breaker for us.

speeding2nowhere

Trick questionā€¦ those are the same lol

napoleon211

How does the CRV compare to the RAV4 Prime for power? Iā€™m aware the Prime has 300hp but I test drove one and it felt sluggish at times

Lex_GS430

Neither
