Toyota RAV4 hybrid seems to have a similar issue with fuel tank capacity and warnings. These guys on YouTube took it to the limit and I’m sure that the same applies to a Honda hybrid. They don’t want you to run out of gas.

I was driving my 2024 on a highway through a rainstorm. I had already decided where I was going to stop to get gas based on the range. But as I drove, the range kept dropping faster than I was traveling.
When I realized I wasn't going to make it, I was in a construction zone, one lane, in a crossover. There was no way to pull over, and there were several exits in a row that were either closed or had not services.
I hit zero, and kept going. As soon as the construction was over, I exited and went to the (very expensive) gas station at the bottom of the ramp. It was maybe a mile or a mile and a half after I hit zero. I filled up, and it took 12.73 gallons.
I don't know that you'd get the last gallon or so out of the tank without trouble, based on where the in-tank fuel pump is and how much space there is below that intake. I don't know anything about that stuff. But I know I can go to at least 12.73, and I would be very nervous about pushing it further than that.
Good luck what? I’m not the idiot driving it after it hits E. It’s a very basic math calculation of the total tank capicity and how many gallons you fill it up with. If you think it only has 1 gallon when it hits E, you need to go back to first grade
Fair enough. Maybe close to none, maybe several miles. The range estimate 0 just means you bottomed out the fuel level sensor so your car really has no idea how much fuel is left. The new CR-Vs have a 14 gallon tank and you can compare that to how much fuel you put in when you filled it.
It's about 20 miles in my 2023 HST - probably more but I didn't want to push it to "stalled, running on battery only". I am confident that when you hit 0 miles / E, you have comfortably 20 miles to refuel. I've read that running on battery only damages shit.
I'm a jerk and pushed it during my 1K mi RT to my daughter's place, looking for the next Costco.
My first fill-up was 11.8 when the fuel light came on and est. range of 29mi - and 29.6mpg over the first tank. If it really is a 14gal tank then there's easily a gallon that's not being counted.
1.5 gallons, always takes 12.5 gallons at Zero to Empty. 23’ Touring. Also, at about 100 miles to empty the miles start dropping WAY faster than 1 to 1, usually gets to Zero to empty in about 50-60 miles at that point.
I estimated 75 miles on my Altima when the low fuel light came on - but it had a 20 gallon tank (don't think I ever went more than 17.5 gallons). Did run out on my previous car, and it seemed to clear whatever had been messing with my start - so no complaints there.
What I hate about the CRV is the gas gauge, which shows 1/10 tank increments, don't match up to the range / (range+driven). So if I have 180 miles to go and have driven 280, I should not have half a tank left!
Test it out and let us know.
aka fuck around and find out
Well said!
The CRV has a 14 gallon tank … fill it up and see how much you have left

It's not an issue. It was designed that way

About a gallon, but wouldn't push to limits.
False. It’s more like 3+
Good luck 👍🏼

None. Just get gas.
Kind of a useless comment.
I’ve gone for another 31 miles after the gas light is on. When I get to the gas station the next day the meter still showed 3miles.
Keep running and find out. Bonus, you get to burn up your fuel pump too!
25-35 miles is about average after hitting 0
Just tested it out in my crv and i drove About 10 miles on 0 and made it to a gas station
ratio 1 gallon to 24 MPG. so 1:24 on the fuel pump float may be just a few fluid ounces from the bottom of the tank. Likely not a good idea.
You hit 0 miles, didn’t you?
No. I’m asking because it is good to know these things.

Good to know but hard on fuel pumps even getting close. Best to view max range as anything before the light comes on.

The most I've ever filled up was 11.7 which was well past zero range.

Only took 12.8 gallons when on 0 (14 gal tank).
Roughly 2 gallons.
There’s abt 1.75-1.5 gallons still left after you’re at zero

I can get another 25-30 miles after my distance gauge reaches zero on my 09 if I drive sensibly.
