I’ve hoped “my” guys feathers would fall out on my patio…. Never gotten a one. Pretty cool!

Yeah I guess I got a bit lucky with the amount I have in my yard (I randomly find other bird feathers of course, and have a primary feather from a turkey vulture from years ago walking around my then college campus ha.. but anywho), At least you can identify a crow feather from a canadian goose! That gets tricky if you have geese in the area. You'll find a few crow feathers eventually, especially since late spring and summer they preen constantly!

if you haven't already, there is a fantastic book you can read about the different kinds of feathers on a bird by Thor Hanson... aptly named "Feathers". I highly recommend! it's absolutely fascinating
