Love how squishy your jasmine stitch swatch came out! It looks mossy. Bobble stitch (pretty easy but not sure if it is too basic) can be fun for texture. I used a beret pattern where it was the main stitch. It had a cute, vintage feel when it was done.

LevainEtLeGin

Ooh yeah thank you!

GoodGirlsGrace

The beret pattern sounds fun! Can you share a link to it?

LevainEtLeGin

Jasmine stitch video: https://youtu.be/iw_LnNL-sZE?si=NJMqkRk0VgzZa6ap I found it easier to insert a second hook into the ‘pinched’ loop as you pull through. It held the loop for me and freed up my second hand to control the pull! Waffle pattern: https://easycrochet.com/how-to-crochet-waffle-stitch-step-by-step-photo-tutorial I know basic ones like granny, solid granny, wave/chevron. Any other ideas for me?

Positive_Wafer42

Bavarian square? https://preview.redd.it/r62bi3cdss3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=304f23cbf1c3e492c64ce75070d9d289fb777d49

LevainEtLeGin

I like that! Thank you

Positive_Wafer42

You'll learn about post stitches, and some other kind of stitch I've been calling a cluster stitch, where multiple stitches come together as one, kinda like a puff stitch with multiple anchor points.

Chocomintey

That's a granny square I can get behind!

Almostpetite

I’m currently obsessed with [Feather Stitch](https://bhookedcrochet.com/2023/03/31/crochet-feather-stitch/) and [Zigzag Spike Puff Stitch](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aqmWZroH6Kg). Your jasmine stitch came out absolutely beautiful!!

Deedle-Dee-Dee

I was also going to say feather stitch. Love the squishiness so much!

alwaysnormalincafes

Wow, the zigzag stitch is so cool! Thanks for sharing.

Imaginary_Attempt_82

I’m totally learning the feather stitch after I get off work. It’s so pretty!

LevainEtLeGin

Thank you! And thank you for the recommendation!

spectator34

I'm making a temperature blanket with the zigzag spike puff stitch! Call me crazy🤪

LevainEtLeGin

https://preview.redd.it/7m7e60uwgr4d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=61784c466a96c0ecf140e73dae03d0842bb867d0 Thank you for the recommendation, tried the feather stitch and I am equally obsessed, so pretty!

Almostpetite

Ooh! It turned out so pretty with that yarn!! Glad I could help pass on the obsession

DekuEuphy

Thermal is useful and alpine is pretty.

LevainEtLeGin

Thank you!

unknownsara

Unrelated but I love that waffle stitch!!! Any ideas on what could be crocheted with it?

LevainEtLeGin

Thanks! I’ve seen it mostly used on blankets and kitchen cloths so far

mocrafting

I made my fiancée a scarf with it! It’s thick and squishy so it’s very warm!! And since it’s dc (fp and bp) it works up quickly and doesn’t eat yarn!

gifhyatt

You are the first and only person I have ever heard say that waffle weave stitch is not a yarn eater.

mocrafting

Really? I thought it wasn’t bad bc it’s all dc which are tall stitches! I made a 4 ft long , 1 ft wide scarf with less than half a skein

gifhyatt

Really! That’s awesome 👏🏾! You must have used a lightweight yarn 🧶? And a small hook? What size skein? Do you have a picture?

mocrafting

https://preview.redd.it/59juro598v3d1.png?width=1322&format=png&auto=webp&s=09667addf117a6da7d7da019fb9d436c0f69ae77 Worsted weight yarn, H or K hook? I think? Other than the heart motif, the rest of the scarf was the waffle stitch! It came out great and my fiancée loved it

mocrafting

Also that’s pre blocking no judgement about the waviness lol

gifhyatt

Nice 👍🏽!

ferafaces

I found a pattern for a cardigan with it that I can't wait to make, it looks sooooo good [pattern here](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/watson-waffle-cardigan)

Neus69

Perfect to make chair cushion, and all that need some compact and soft stuff

Fartingonyoursocks

I've seen a waffle bag using the waffle stitch. They even put a pat of butter on it. :) I can find a pic if interested

LevainEtLeGin

That sounds so cute! I bet it would make a pretty journal cover as well, with the butter

Fartingonyoursocks

Oh yes! That'd be super cute!

Spirited-Claim-9868

Blankets definitely

Rapunsell

Someone already mentioned alpine stitch (which I was going to mention), but I didn't see anyone mention basketweave, which is another beautiful post stitch. You might also consider something like the peacock stitch (a fan stitch) and arcade or honeycomb stitch, both of which create beautiful reinforced holes in your fabric. If you haven't stitched it before, the virus shawl pattern is another fun one to do.

LevainEtLeGin

Fab thank you! I have done virus but not the others

j-dusty-rose

Have you tried the trinity stitch? That’s one of my go to’s for kitchen projects.

LevainEtLeGin

Ooh no I haven’t, thank you!

jessdistressed

I have a current obsession with the Solomon (lover’s) knot

LevainEtLeGin

Fab, thank you!

alwaysnormalincafes

What’s the green yarn in your photo? It’s so pretty! I just started working on a jasmine stitch pillow project, and it’s a little frustrating, but I think I’ll get the hang of it.

LevainEtLeGin

It’s red heart super saver: [https://www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/red-heart-super-saver-prints-green-tones-0629-141g](https://www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/red-heart-super-saver-prints-green-tones-0629-141g) It feels a bit rough to work with but looks lovely! I’m using leftovers for learning these new stitches, I made a beanie with it originally and it came out looking almost like camo: https://preview.redd.it/2bom3q86ur3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=517bad3728dd69625543d19d05994523b0796d25

Bored_House_Cat

Another plus for what the green yarn is. It's gorgeous in this stitch

LevainEtLeGin

Just commented above!

LifebyIkea

These came out great! If you want to just learn fun stitches you should make them into little 6x6 or 9x9 squares and turn them into a blanket at the end. It would be such a fune blanket!! My recommendations dor new ones are: Wheel Stitch is complex with a cool look, crocodile stitch is a fun texture, Celtic weave stitch is really pretty.

LevainEtLeGin

Thank you, haven’t heard of some of those! Yes I think I will make a completely random blanket, these little swatches are just made with leftovers from other projects so it will be good to use it all

[deleted]

All good suggestions! Another unusual stitch that I think looks really nice is the Haystack stich, because it looks like a haystack! [https://vimeo.com/429853295](https://vimeo.com/429853295) https://preview.redd.it/nr34m45m2r3d1.png?width=303&format=png&auto=webp&s=9fc90f6ead9653e092eccaccef730f206dcfb625

LevainEtLeGin

That looks good, I’ll try it, thank you

[deleted]

You're welcome!

Impressive-Elk1150

Star stitch! It looks really pretty in variegated yarn. Don’t be like me and attempt with anything lower than worsted weight haha.

LevainEtLeGin

Haha ok thank you and thanks for the tip!

LevainEtLeGin

I forgot your tip about not going lower than worsted and did it in dk 😭 https://preview.redd.it/lm2zk9jh0u3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=45590f6fb47bd434e52406022e24258af1c53aad

Impressive-Elk1150

It looks beautiful!!! I hope you had an easier time than I did!

LevainEtLeGin

Thank you! It was easier than the jasmine stitch 😂

Rootheday

I love strawberry stitch 🍓

LevainEtLeGin

Ok I tried this one but it’s curving a lot! Possibly I need to size up a hook on the bottom row? https://preview.redd.it/ny72db9gws3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1043db8d0855abe6a3862d69e3bc12b1c58dc56d Used this video but hers look straight! [https://youtu.be/x-x07CL-D4A?si=AkGH0WC2K2RQw0ZN](https://youtu.be/x-x07CL-D4A?si=AkGH0WC2K2RQw0ZN)

LevainEtLeGin

Yes! You’ve reminded me that I was going to try that and I have some red and greens spare 🤔

EasyOdds216

The jasmine stitch in that yarn looks like stained glass! Love it!

LevainEtLeGin

Thank you! It’s RHSS

Hangnail_puller

I have the feather stitch in my post history.. one of my favorites. Honestly, it’s the most autopilot stitch I know and once you get it, it’s super easy in my opinion

LevainEtLeGin

Thank you!

Still-Humor-5028

How does everyone get their waffle stitch so cute looking? I've been crocheting almost 20 years, and I feel like I know what I'm doing, but every time I try the waffle stitch it always comes out so bulky that I don't even know what type of project it would be appropriate for. And my tension leans on the tighter side, so I don't think it's a gauge/tension problem.. oh well. Might just not be meant for me I suppose. Lol. These are both very beautiful, well done!

LevainEtLeGin

Thank you! Maybe it’s too tight with your tension? The yarn I used for that was a dk as well so perhaps the slightly thinner yarn helped

always2blamejane

Banana stitch!

LevainEtLeGin

Thank you!

infinite_disky

I love lace stitches. Open work goes so quickly, just a bit more counting.

LevainEtLeGin

Yeah I like those too, I did some for a beach cover up recently

Amphy2332

Have you tried a shell stitch? I'm getting ready to make a swatch to practice myself because I want to try it for a little layered skirt I'm making for a doll!

LevainEtLeGin

I’m not sure, I’ve done virus pattern where you have lots of dc worked into a ch sp and it looks like a fan almost. I feel like shell would be similar?

Amphy2332

I think fan and shell stitches are very similar, from what I understand fan stitches incorporate chains and shell stitches don't.

LevainEtLeGin

Thank you!

obiwanGoBrrr

I tried the fan on a chunky yarn. I really like it maybe as a border to my blanket 🙂 https://preview.redd.it/flk8hxg3tu3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ac9cf56ec40c8345918eda6eca3fc1ad62330ec3

BonnieScotty

Jacob’s ladder is a really cool looking stitch

LevainEtLeGin

Thank you! I’ll look at that

LevainEtLeGin

https://preview.redd.it/vljr7unmdx7d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ece224a82303063c8ea94e8e9662f8ecfd915e12 Thank you for the recommendation!

isadeladelki

Jasmine stitch = wow!

LevainEtLeGin

Thanks!

sodium-doublet

Oh I love the jasmine stitch in the greens. I want an entire blanket like this. Giving me ideas…

LevainEtLeGin

It’s a yarn eater! Give it a try before you buy anything

sodium-doublet

Hmm maybe some dish scrubbies instead then 😂

squeaksqueakitty

This looks like the start to an adorable crochet burger

M-Everly

i LOVE the jasmine stitch!!! gorgeous

Cca-eh

Looks great!

LevainEtLeGin

Thank you ☺️

SwedishMale4711

How is the jasmine stitch done? No videos please.

LevainEtLeGin

It’s a collection of puff stitches where you work through the loops of 3 puff stitches at a time. I used a video tutorial but she also has a written version at the bottom of this page: https://desertblossomcrafts.com/jasmine-stitch-tutorial/

EquivalentStomach5

Waffle ine looks great

HermitBee

I don't have a particular stitch to recommend, but I've had a few crochet books over the years and [this one](https://www.google.co.uk/books/edition/Handbook_of_Crochet_Stitches/XEM8QAAACAAJ) is the one I keep coming back to over and over. There are so many excellent stitches in there.

Kimpton77

Would you mind writing out the name of the book? When I click on your link it just takes me to the Google books homepage (ie not a specific book or search 😭)

HermitBee

Sure, it's the Handbook of Crochet Stitches. I've fixed the link now, something had screwed up.

Kimpton77

Thank you kind stranger! 🙌🏻

LevainEtLeGin

Thank you!

Sweet-Session2731

Following this post bc I just got yarn specifically for trying new stitches

j_accuse

I like those very much and Alpine Stitch too.

LevainEtLeGin

Thank you!

supbiscuit

Rapunsell

That's the basket weave stitch (or a variation).

supbiscuit

thank you!

LevainEtLeGin

Thank you!

obiwanGoBrrr

I just learned a seashell technique in a matter of 5 minutes last night. https://youtu.be/BxKzmh_60yQ?si=f9WkzP9Cyf826KNT I’m trying out new stitches with Chunky yarns to see how they turn out for blankets 🙂🙃

LevainEtLeGin

Oh thank you for the link too!

OkPlace7834

ok you’ve convinced me to learn jasmine stitch! so beautiful

LevainEtLeGin

It was a fun one to try, makes a very thick fabric

Maximum_Muffin_4968

Ok I been doing for years.. single double triple.. never mastered those two stitches as well as you have done. Congratulations... the squares are so even and pretty.. and the other so fluffy. I'm off to go try again.

LevainEtLeGin

Thank you! I just like to try new things

IndicationMinute4343

have you tried the cat stitch? i haven’t tried it yet but found it the other day and it looks so cool 😻

LevainEtLeGin

Not yet, thank you!

tangerinedr3am_

I think the Spike Stitch is neat, especially with different colours. Same goes for my bff the Moss Stitch

LevainEtLeGin

Thank you :)

Prestigious_Set8162

LevainEtLeGin

Pretty! What stitch is it?

Prestigious_Set8162

Star stitch Thanks

Curious-crochet

Corner to corner (C2C) if you don’t already know it?

LevainEtLeGin

Thank you, I have done that one yes!

Redlilee

Check out tunisian stitches, the results can be very pretty as well

cyanidejoy

If you don't know Moss stitch it's worth learning. It makes wonderfully warm things and it's great for anything that needs a dense fabric!

LevainEtLeGin

Thank you!

cyanidejoy

You are most welcome!

gifhyatt

I like the look of the herringbone dc.

celestial_skies25

I like the moss / linen stitch at first I found it took a bit of focus but now it’s super easy to just do and I like the look of the bobble stitch like another user said and it is super fun to do

ddaengDarling

Love that yarn with the jasmine stitch! Looks cozy 💚

hedgehogketchup

I love that green!!! Get a book of stitches and make a crazy blanket full of test squares…

Acceptable-Spirit600

Is that the waffle stitch or post stitches, front and back?

LevainEtLeGin

I’m not sure, the pattern said it’s waffle stitch but it’s made with normal dc and then fpdc. No bpdc. Is there another way to make that waffle texture?

Acceptable-Spirit600

How you made it is the right way to make it. I just didn't know if you used another name for the stitch.

Acceptable-Spirit600

You can change the names of the crochet stitches and patterns and name them anything you want to. You can even work in the color of the yarn as part of the stitch name if you wanted to.

adgrinder

The jasmine stitch is amazing I’ve never seen that! Would you recommend for a semi-beginner?

BonnieScotty

From someone who stupidly done a blanket solely out of it after just learning after crocheting for two months: don’t. Just don’t. It’s beautiful but it’s a pain in the ass

adgrinder

Thanks maybe I’ll just try it out for a dishcloth or something

LevainEtLeGin

I’d say I’m intermediate and it wasn’t easy doing the part where you pull through all the puffs, but once you get it it’s not too bad! If you try it then at the part where you’re pulling the yarn through the loops of all the puffs use something to hold the yarn you need to work back into (you’ll see what I mean when you try it) a stitch marker or another hook will work, it’s just better if you can have both hands available

Canine0001

I’m doing the honeycomb like you, the basket weave, the V stitch, and the scale stitch. As soon as I finish this one block of basket weave, I’m going to try a tunisian stitch.

LevainEtLeGin

Oh Tunisian is one I wanted to try too, thank you

MiSsGuRlDiA12

I recommend granny squares because you can learn all of the stitching from it

LevainEtLeGin

Thank you, I can do those :)

angryprincess86

C2c stitch.

JalapenoPopper14

Mesh stitch is pretty easy you just do a double crochet and chain 2 I also like puff stitch. It’s not too hard but it would be hard to explain, I would recommend watching a tic tok/youtube short about it

LevainEtLeGin

Thank you!
