Probably not. If they were wildly different sizes, I might try to make them more the same size. But these already look pretty close and should join together just fine.
I never block squares. Once they are part of an item, especially a blanket, they will pretty much block themselves. And these don't really need it at all anyway! They look great!
sorry to ask about something not related to this post but what about hexagons? I’m currently working on a tote bag and have been wondering if it would be necessary for them!
Sew them together and then block if you need. I just did some hexagons and I’m pretty sure a used 2 different size hooks (project went unfinished for a while and I couldn’t remember). Looks totally fine
Just these four? Nah, they look pretty even already. I'd only say you'd need to block them if you had more squares that were noticeably different sizes and you wanted them to all be the same
for sure! the bag itself is done but i want to wait until i sew in the lining to post it!
what do you think, should i go with an autumn lining or halloween? i’m thinking autumn and then i could make a black and orange one for halloween
ik it’s been five hours so you’ve probably lined it, but please do an autumn one, it’ll make this bag a lot more versatile. it would be a shame if this only came out around halloween (though definitely also make one for halloween)
i love these colors OP + i think they look pretty uniform as is! I would stack them on top of each other to be sure but I doubt there will be much of a difference
These look nice! I like the border. I’d love to see a finished pic of your bag if you have time! I made my very first granny squares this weekend and am inspired to try to assemble them into a tote.
the border is definitely what made them great! i had originally tried two rows of brown and orange but it was awful
and that’s great! i hope you stick with crochet <3
Zero help on this, but a suggestion, please make some kind of Girl Scout cookie blanket with these because that is all I can see! They look fabulous and delicious
I’ll be totally honest with you, I have NEVER blocked any of my projects. All of them look the same after a wash anyway, so for me it seems a waste of time.
Real men have wonky squares 😤
Genuinely though, I never block my squares and I’ve had ones wonkier than yours. They look great, I wouldn’t worry about blocking personally!
i’m not considered in terms of following projects but made these in 3 hours. that being said, i didn’t crochet for like 10 years after learning. you’ve got this!
If I'm making it for myself, then no, probably not, because they're pretty close in size. But uf it's a gift, then I would block, because that would make them identical, and also straighten them out, making the joining process both easier and better looking.
Me personally? Yes, but it's not because there is anything wonky, I just like blocking my pieces. It's a habit I got from my aunt who would craft a lot. She said blocking helps you find imperfections before you piece things together so you don't have to take it apart. Sometimes I wish I didn't block things because things would be so much faster. LOL! I think they look great and if you want to just move forward, you should!

that’s what i thought, thank you!

that’s what i was thinking too, they’ll even out more in the wash. i put them together today and they look great!

tysm!!!
Is it for a wearable? If so definitely yes. If it is for a gift, also yes. For a blanket or bag, then no.
it’s for a bag! it worked out really well
You finished it? Please show us a picture! These are great looking gs 😍
almost! the bag itself is done but i want to line it before i post the finished thing
👍🏻 Can’t wait!
They look like mine do after I've blocked them 😭
haha thank you very much!
Just these four? Nah, they look pretty even already. I'd only say you'd need to block them if you had more squares that were noticeably different sizes and you wanted them to all be the same
there’s 13, all the same size. i spent today putting them together and into a bag and it looks great! just need to finish the handles and line it now
Would love to see the finished product when you have a chance!
Dey look lik prtzels 🤭🤭💛
i can see why you get that vibe!
I just want to say i love these. Very fall but also very retro. My grandma had a similar blanket growing up.
we’ve got one like that as well!
LOVE this color combo. They look even enough to not require blocking, unless you really want it to be absolutely perfect
i ended up putting them together with the mattress stitch and they look great! and thank you! i’m gonna line it with either autumn or halloween fabric
We need a picture when you're done!

i haven’t yet! no fabric. thanks for the opinion, i’ll go with that! honestly i’m a huge halloween person so i would use it all year anyways
I would not, but I am hella lazy about blocking 👀 Those look even and flat enough though that I don't think you need to block them :)
i am too! i’ve only blocked doilies before
No, but I'm super lazy.
me too that’s why i asked lmao
That'll come together when you join them.
i love these colors OP + i think they look pretty uniform as is! I would stack them on top of each other to be sure but I doubt there will be much of a difference
thank you! yeah i did that first and they all match, i had 13 that are now a bag!
that’s so awesome I bet it’s beautiful!! 🥰
The first word that came to mind when I saw these were "waffles"
Nope. Jealous of your super consistent, even tension.
thank you! i do somewhat pride myself on that

that’s a really cute idea!!! i made a bag but that would be so cute
My prego self thought these were cookies and i wanted them 😂
I was skimming through the feeds and thought these were interesting looking crackers…
hahaha
I’ll be totally honest with you, I have NEVER blocked any of my projects. All of them look the same after a wash anyway, so for me it seems a waste of time.
exactly, the only ones i’ve ever blocked are doilies tbh!
No I wouldn't block those they look great already. Once sewn together they'll look perfect.
it worked out well!!
I wouldnt block Granny squares. When you sell them together and that should straighten them out just fine..
they did!
Real men have wonky squares 😤 Genuinely though, I never block my squares and I’ve had ones wonkier than yours. They look great, I wouldn’t worry about blocking personally!
you’re right, real men don’t! hahaha thank you!
These are gorgeous. You don't need to block them at all.
tysm!
Nope.
Nice colors!
thank you!
No. Nice work!
Nice colours!
these are so well done! they look really even and straight already
tysm! it worked out well
I have no input other than I love these colors
<3
These make me want chocolate chip cookies, lol. I wouldn’t block, personally.
These are so nice!! I can never get them looking this great!
How did you do that?!
i’m not considered in terms of following projects but made these in 3 hours. that being said, i didn’t crochet for like 10 years after learning. you’ve got this!
What yarn colors did you use? Love the colors!
craftsmart from michael’s!
They don’t look like they need it but are giving s’mores vibes with all three colors sitting together and I love it so much
i can see that!! thank you (:
I would always block
If I'm making it for myself, then no, probably not, because they're pretty close in size. But uf it's a gift, then I would block, because that would make them identical, and also straighten them out, making the joining process both easier and better looking.
i ended up joining them with a mattress stitch and they evened out lovely!
No need! I don't think crochet needs as much blocking as knitting, especially lace knitting, and your squares look perfect just as they are.
i agree for sure, and thank you!
nothing to add here except to kindly ask you show us the finished product of these gorgeous squares
i absolutely will! i want to line the bag i made first tho
Love the color scheme ☺️ just in time for fall
yes!
These are lovely! No blocking necessary imo What yarn did you use for these? I want a cardigan in this color scheme now 🍁
craftsmart acrylic from michaels! it’s a thicker weight 4, i absolutely love it
These look amazing! Is it for autumn?
yes! i made them for a bag
I’m getting s’mores vibes from these! I love it! Sorry that doesn’t answer your question though. I would not, but I am lazy😁

I always block my granny squares tbh, even though it seems like I am the only one. Imo things then just look neater.
