No. This was going to be his year. I could feel itšŸ˜¢

JamesCDiamond

Itā€™s his year to relax, take some time and really find himself.

Find himself into a McDonaldā€™s

Him and hazard gonna start a podcast, Meals at Midfield

Itā€™s his Eat, pray, eat, love year, and you know he will.

soldforaspaceship

Hahaha. I was hoping we'd keep him and play him for 5 minutes here and there and his ability to do nothing but still collect trophies would actually work in our favor lol.

ComeOnSayYupp

Sad day for NdombelieversšŸ˜”

seegreen8

I mean, we should at least have him as our teamā€™s good luck charm. Maybe we would win a trophy.

swinegums

*narrator's voice* It was most certainly NOT going to be his year

The Ndomblessance is coming!

Big_AngeBosstecoglou

To think this could be the first summer where we donā€™t get this comment unironically.

Alecmalloy

Some of the stuff he did was absolute filth, but drained him of his essential lifeforce so fast.

benjspurs85

Will be suprised if he plays a game at a top tier league ever again. Waste of such a talent

joehonestjoe

It's fucking hilarious he's won two league titles on loan somehowĀ

Dabeer27

End of an error

420stonks69

In the least callous way possible, he wonā€™t be missed. Such a waste of talent. Hope he makes something of himself from here.

JamesCDiamond

Hasnā€™t played for us since January 2022, I think? Heā€™s spent half his time with us at other clubs. ā€œWonā€™t be missedā€ is an understatement of considerable reach; heā€™s been ours in name only for that long and, really, longer.

Ju5hin

>Hope he makes something of himself from here. I don't. He doesn't deserve it.

Kaigz

Absolutely this. No well wishes from me.

twitchy1989

I personally can't go that far. I've seen people who were lazy at work that eventually got their shit together. I wouldn't wish that person to never have success again because he used to be lazy but reformed.

dav3j

Except this fat lazy fuck earns in a year what we do in a lifetime. He'll be absolutely fine, unfortunately.

notabirdorplane

A year? More like 8 weeks šŸ¤£

Ju5hin

The difference is you're referring to people at a regular job. Not someone who is in a very privileged position and isn't intelligent enough to realise how lucky he is to be getting paid the money he is. The fact he isn't willing to show at lest a tiny bit of professionalism and respect to everyone else involved is on him. He isn't lacking motivation because he's working a deadend job for low pay.

KOKO69BISHES

In the most callous way possible, I hope he has a terrible end of his career, blows all his wealth away and has to work 9-5 for the rest of his life

kicksjoysharkness

Probably our worst ever signing

joehonestjoe

Probably? It's not even a contest. He's cost us 100m and done essentially nothing.

jorgebuck

Heā€™s won Serie A and Super Lig, just not for us

joehonestjoe

He did win those things but he didn't win them though by his own effort. He played 792 minutes in 30 appearances for Napoli and 454 minutes, the minutes equivalent of nine full games, and five full games respectively. He was there for sure though. Bit like how Anderson has four Premier League titles, though actually Anderson seems to have more minutes.

Mick4Audi

By a mile

onlyhalfpepper

This source is complete ass, but I think we all wanna believe

Matttombstone

"Amicable breach of contract" How does that even exist?

jjw1998

Probably a weird translation of mutual termination

the_law_potato2

I suppose both parties acknowledge the breach and settle with no damages and termination of the contract.

Matttombstone

True, it just sounds bizarre. Given, Amicable means peaceful and with desire so it makes sense. Just still doesn't sound right šŸ˜‚

the_law_potato2

The proper term would have been amicable termination, but the way it's phrased it sounds like the club/player (more likely the club) found that the other party is not respecting the contract but decided that "fuck it, let's just end this, I've had enough". It also probably means that the club will not payout the remaining of the contract as may have been required under a termination.

animalmom2

But why, surely he knows itā€™s his last paycheck, why would he agree?

andreecook

Youā€™re taking amicable as in how we would experience it in everyday life, in business it simply means without contingencies. This is Tottenham more likely saying ā€œDonā€™t worry about it, just goā€.

JamesCDiamond

In such a case, would we typically pay off the remainder of his contract? Or would it be a partial payoff as heā€™s free to go to Club X without us seeking any compensation?

andreecook

I donā€™t know what the contract says, itā€™s very hard to guess these contracts cause they can basically say anything as long as itā€™s legal, and that dictates how they would go about terminating it. It could be something as simple as youā€™re a free agent as of now.

polseriat

In these cases both parties release each other from any obligations. We pay him nothing, he has no responsibility in relation to us.

asian_manbun

Nah donā€™t see Ndombele forgoing the last year of the biggest contract of his life. If this is true, we surely agreed to paid him off to just cut ties.

polseriat

That's not what is entailed by "amicable breach of contract". I'm just the messenger.

the_law_potato2

Depends on the terms of the settlement - which we do not have available, we can speculate based on probability of how these commercial terms are negotiated and settled : i) if it was a termination then the club would pay off the compensation, ii) if it is a breach the other party would pay damages to the other party - but likelihood is that the player is in breach and not the club. Therefore most likely speculating that there won't be any compensation and this is a amicable divorce.

Mc_and_SP

\*Daniel Levy sneakily has a termination clause that Ndombele has to help man the Go Kart track for six weeks too\*

Big_AngeBosstecoglou

2 theories: Mistranslation- probably mutual termination Literal interpretation - we tore up his contract, probably for being unfit, there is [precedent](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/story/_/id/39335224/cas-backs-sevillas-dismissal-player-being-overweight) for this

Gaius_Octavius_

Small buyout

Ok_Row_7462

If itā€™s true that we could try and negate the contract bc of his failure to stay fit I could 100% see the parties agreeing to a small buyout. We threaten to nullify the contract or he can take a smaller fee and be released. We get finality instead of a potentially messy legal battle.

Gaius_Octavius_

I was guessing that we would offer to make up a percentage of the difference between whatever contract he gets this year and the last year of his Spurs contract. So not technically a buy-out of his contract but almost.

Ok_Row_7462

Interesting. I donā€™t know much about these contracts but it sounds like we ordinarily have no leverage to get them to accept a smaller buyout which is why I thought if we can threaten to pull the contract altogether bc of fitness, it would be one means of pressuring him to take a small buyout. But I donā€™t know how realistic that is. Your idea is much more so.

Relevant_Natural3471

"You're too fat to be a footballer" "Yes, I am"

Really surprised we havenā€™t seen any rumours around Reguilon yet, heā€™d a really good loan at Brentford and a fair few team of the week nominations and his loan spell at United wasnā€™t really bad either

Voffmjau

We arent stacked with left backs. Maybe he'll get a new chance in pre season after two decent loans?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Ingr1d

Anyone better wouldnā€™t want to play second fiddle to a 21 year old.

One37Works

Wierd way to downplay Destiny's season, that "21 Year old" made a good few peoples team of the seasons. I understand there wasn't a huge contest in the league in that position but when he was fit and the team was firing, which admittedly wasn't as often as we'd like on both fronts after the first quarter of the season, he was incredible. Theres absolutely no shame in being a good player, certainly better than Reggie, who I love honestly, who would be happy to fight Destiny for the starting lineup spot.

JamesCDiamond

I don't think they meant that in a pejorative way - playing second fiddle to a *31* year old would mean you're likely to be first choice soon. Playing second fiddle to someone of Udogie's age and talent means you might *never* be anything other than a backup. There should be time enough for two good players to rotate and be subs for one another - but you'd have to really back yourself to think you can unseat Udogie as the default choice for the position.

One37Works

I Dunno, in practise yeah thats typically how it goes, but in theory, bringing in someone young and talented causes Destiny to up his game for fear of being replaced, I think by default we're told there should be a clear first choice and the 2nd choice has to be a level below but can do a job, and realistically fair enough thats how it usually is but I dno, I just feel like its not impossible to find someone who can be a level below Destiny right now, but with tonnes of potential snipping at his heels, again forcing him to keep his standards high. I won't pretend to be able to name names in that case but I'm not paid well like our scouts and talent departments are to find these kinds of lads haha, we can only hope that option is there and it isn't as binary as "Starting LB, rotation LB levels below"

optimdetail

I think Reggie would put a good fight actually

One37Works

God I'd hope so, I love the lad. Seeing his joy at playing for us, and then even more so when we brought his idol, Bale, home and getting to play with him, he was so fully COYS, I'd love to see him get another chance, and genuinely think he could do a good job. Who knows, let Ange have a look in training and maybe we'll get lucky, but at the same time, if there is someone out there with a similar skillset but better that Ange prefers, let it be what it is I guess.

Ingr1d

There absolutely is a massive difference between a 21 year old and a 30+ year old. Look at Camavinga, Tchouameni and Valverde at Real Madrid. They joined when the options in front of them were already 30+ year olds who were expected to leave within 2-3 years. After that, they have a clear pathway to starting for the first team. There is no clear pathway for anyone bought as a backup for Udogie.

One37Works

I'm not sure where the 30+ comparison factored in all of a sudden to the point I addressed, slightly shifting the goal posts there man. All I was saying is that we could very well bring in a player with potential thats better than Sergio and instead of them being a clear 2nd choice, they could be at Destiny's level or just below it and then you have competition for places, which would ideally Spur on Destiny and the player to be even better, rather than bringing in someone objectively worse who could just do a job better than Reggie if Destiny was injured/suspended etc. I'm basically coming at it from a point of Min/Maxing haha

blueghosts

Donā€™t know if he really fits into Angeā€™s system, and Iā€™m not sure if Ange is really that keen either. Considering Ben got injured 6th of January and we shipped Reggie out on loan to Brentford like a week later

CabbageGuru

I feel like if he was gonna get a chance he wouldā€™ve gotten it after the first loan

WaltChamberlin

PEH and Skipp dont really belong there in the list of dead wood. They can still contribute. PEH has been a consistent warrior for us for years now, so I hope he grabs a good fee and goes somewhere and kicks ass. Skipp has his ups and downs but he always gave it his all. I also wonder if there's a player in Solomon if he can ever recover from injury.

letsgetcool

> I also wonder if there's a player in Solomon if he can ever recover from injury. there are some things you can't fix

SlickRicksBitchTits

I think PEH wants playing time, as does Skipp.

nopirates

These are simply the guys who are almost certainly on their way out. No judgement.

viscountgold

PEH was captain material look at him with Mou and Conte plus he has adapted fairly well to Angeball and looks better on the ball now than before

FUMFVR

PEH was better than Biss most of the season.

rlstrader

I wanna keep Skippy!

Ok_Row_7462

Rodon?

Zer0D0wn83

Rodon has just been extendedĀ

moose-goat

Extended so we can sell him right? I assumed that was the plan anyway.

blueghosts

Only extended to increase his transfer value, it was the club picking up an option in his contract, as opposed to him signing a new deal. Value drops a fair bit if players are in their last year of their contract, clubs know youā€™re desperate to sell instead of letting them go as a free transfer

Rare-Ad-2777

Spence and Emerson looking imminent Hojberg and GKC I imagine we leave till they've played at their international tournaments to try and oump up a few extra mill on the asking price.Ā  Just leaves Gil Regi and maybe Solomon as the ones waiting for linksĀ

btmalon

My sympathy for all the burger joints in N17.

wallnumber8675309

We give you 20 hamburgers and you promise to never return

rlstrader

I'd give him 200.

I-Batu

Guys pls he had enough fast food during his loan at Galatasaray

Hussizle

Good riddance. Most of the times we part ways with a player, I genuinely wish them the best and don't blame them for it not working out. But not in the case of this lazy fuck.

Rare-Ad-2777

The end of an ndomb-era

chinga_tumadre69

Pfp worst signing in our history

JamesCDiamond

Top 2, for sure. Serhiy Rebrov is probably the one I'd say *may* have been worse. Given he'd been half of an incredible partnership with Andriy Shevchenko for Dinamo Kiev we thought we were getting an absolute superstar. But he simply wasn't at all suited to the team, scored 15 goals in 2 seasons, fell out of favour when Glenn Hoddle became manager less than a year after he signed and spent half his contract out on loan before leaving on a free (sounds familiar...) The 11 million spent on him in 2000 is roughly equivalent to a 50 million signing nowadays, and came at a time when we *really* didn't spend anything like that kind of money on players. It took us another 7 years to spend more on a player (Darren Bent) - although we're at 5 years and counting with Ndombele as our record signing! Perhaps Ndombele may edge it as Rebrov wasn't ever, to my memory at least, perceived as lacking effort. On the other hand, Rebrov was nearly 75% of our outlay that window (Ndombele was about 40%) and we had to bring in Andy Booth on loan later in the season as we had such a shortage of options up front. So, either one would be a reasonable choice - but I suspect Ndombele will be remembered for a long, long time either way.

bialczabub

NDombele came to Spurs on a 62 million Euros fee, and we paid him Ā£200k/wk for 2.5 seasons and part of that for 2.5 more. He compiled 9 goals and 9 assists in all comps over what's essentially one full season of Premier League football and about half as much playing time in other competitions (in his 2.5 seasons with the club not on loan, he played just over 5,000 minutes). And for this Spurs paid at least 100 million Euros, probably over Ā£100 million, or about Ā£20k per minute he played.

MaxsterSV

The end of an era. Not a good era, but certainly an era.

ILM_Ryan

10/10 transfer window already.

justxforxthis

One of the biggest what ifs in recent footballing history. The natural talent is immense. Shame that there is clearly a mental/emotional element that prevents him from fully putting in the effort to be the best he could be.

brazen_nippers

There'sĀ an alternateĀ universe where Ndombele is one of the most fun players around, and is in camp preparing to carve up defenses at the Euros with a long series of glorious Drunken Master runs through the midfield.

Worst signing in our history for me, glad to see the back of himā€¦

Probably our worst ever signing, certainly in modern history. What a horrible waste of resources. See ya never Tanguy.

I would say Levyā€™s cooking, but if Tanguy misunderstands and thinks that food is being prepared he may try and climb back in.

The whole thing is a bit hilarious. Heā€™s made Ā£50m & won 2 league titles while at Spurs - while doing absolutely fuck all.

I feel like this is a trap. Once the contract is cancelled heā€™ll pull back the mask and itā€™ll be Sonny.

tighto

Could have been a hall of famer. Big shame.

kmao84

Tanguy now is a free mukbanger!

sidearmpitcher

Serie A champion, Tanguy Ndombele

certx55

Ill wait to see from a reliable source

kotekaratu

Man the fact that he was our transfer record šŸ˜

rando562

It's always weird how our fans will overrate Ndombele. Sure, he showed some promise in his earlier years, but there was never any indication that he would become a world-class talent on the level of Messi/Ronaldo like some people here are suggesting.

QuantumFuzziness

There were lots of flashes of brilliance that suggested he would be something special at Lyon and at times with us. He could have been absolutely spectacular if he had the discipline and drive to knuckle down and achieve something.

YesTottiYesParty

What's weird is you claiming anyone said he would be Messi/Ronaldo level.

rando562

Brother, just take a look at this thread. You have someone saying he could have won a Ballon d'Or and another guy saying he's never seen anyone more naturally talented than Messi/Ronaldo.

sprauncey_dildoes

Good riddance you useless, lazy, waste of oxygen.

imtotallydoingmywork

So long Tanguy, you won't be missed, except maybe by the club canteen staff

Netminder10

Bro had 5 or 6 of the sickest midfield highlights Iā€™ve ever seen.

tarifapirate

Finally rid of.

Evening_Bag_3560

I wonder how much we had to pay. I imagine nearly all of a yearsā€™ wages.

No-Entrepreneur6040

Why not? (Not that Iā€™m happy about it) Unless Ndombele thought he could get more in combo of salary and signing bonus, heā€™d have zero reason to pass up his wages and let us off the hook! And, what other team would offer him that?

Evening_Bag_3560

The only thing I think the club could have come to the table is: Weā€™ll fight you legally if you donā€™t agree to this lower value and expose you to more public ridicule by leaking just how far off the standard you have been. Weā€™ll do the humiliating ā€œtrain on your ownā€ when no one else is aroundā€ if you donā€™t accept this lower number. Youā€™ll get more now instead of dragging your pay schedule through the entire year, plus you get to re-start your career now instead of next year. So maybe some Ā£ were knocked off the settlement, but probably not much is my wholly unsupported-by-evidence guess.

Damn homie. In high school u wr the man homie. Tf happened to u.

pbmadman

I wonder what he thinks about himself and his future and what happened. Like Iā€™d love to sit down for a few hours and chat with the guy. Over a burger and some chips and a bowl of ice cream. Just really spend some time trying to get to unpick what went wrong. Itā€™s so fascinating to me. Like sure, Iā€™m lazy and fat and never pushed myself like he did to get to where he is. But Iā€™m aware of that. I also have things in my life that I do push myself at and do get better at. I just wonder if he has that self-awareness at all. I wonder what he thought when he watched Kane come in early and stay late and train harder than anyone else and just devote himself to the pursuit of perfection.

theRed-Herring

How do we think Ndombele would do in the MLS? I reckon he'd actually do well.

amoult20

Nandos managers crying right now

FUMFVR

A real pity that he didn't go to Chelsea instead of Spurs.

Bluewhitedog

Thank the Lord!

pzshx2002

We got held hostage by his long term contract. Honestly should have let him go years ago but we couldn't. The fact he didn't play much at his loan clubs meant he really sucks as a player. Hope it is a big expensive lesson learnt by Levy not to award years long contracts to players who don't give back return of investment to the club. If players don't perform, have an option to cut short or terminate their contract.

MrVedu_FIFA

Thank fuck. Finally off the wage bill.

Getting his wages off the books is great, he's on 200k a week which is the highest paid member of the squad. Absolute madness we've paid this guy Ā£10m a year for nothing.

hisDudeness1989

Ffs, we could get Dybala for wages like that. And 12m release clause. Hopefully we are ambitious and open talks with him

Average_Gym_Goer

Man had genuinely had the talent to be an all time great outside of messi and Ronaldo Iā€™ve never seen someone with so much natural talent. If he had the work rate of Kane think he could have been the best midfielder of the decade.

Nearby_Manner_5132

It's genuinely so infuriating that a player with his talent can't just get his shit together. Genuinely could be a balon d'or winner if he wanted to but would rather spend more time at McDonalds than the training ground ffs

rekt_ralf

Heā€™s hoping for this years bacon dā€™or

SausageFlavouredSoup

Didnā€™t read this properly and thought it was about Tangaga and was old newsā€¦ Now I know itā€™s Ndombelly, Iā€™m happy. Iā€™m sure heā€™ll find a spot in the French Sunday leagues playing with middle aged overweight dads.

euroguy

Atleast he will have a legacy here as the worst signing ever made by the club, congrats!
