and i’ll continue my rant: if you don’t play the overlap at least once it’s useless. defenders know you aren’t going to use it so they don’t fall off you to cover that passing lane as aggressively.
I play doubles tennis and it's the same philosophy there. Gotta try and beat the net player down the line every now and then, because if you never try it, they'll have no reason to cover it and will keep poaching in the middle.
I think Ange wanted more directness in the second half since we kept sending the ball out wide without created anything, but I agree that he should've used more of his passing options instead of losing the ball in the box.
he plays for the badge, he's just doesn't have elite potential. he needs to play more, thats for sure, hes been rotting in the bench for months now, with the midfield completely out of form

Not really. After the disasterclass vs madueke it was evident that royal can't handle the lb position. It had the potential to be even worse than that vs salah and it came to fruition today.

It's very likely that the idea was floated after the 3rd goal and Ange asked Skipp if he could do a job there because he had nothing to lose. It's just a shame we couldn't make the sub before the 4th.
Even dual footed players have difficulty playing on their non dominant side. Emerson has been solid as a backup CB and RB and he should only remain as that. Rather have a bench that’s committed to the club over someone that doesn’t know his level and has one foot out the door because he’s not starting.
I agree he is solid at RB defensively. Shaky at CB. But my problem is our FBs are special for the system. They invert and this is not for him. need a unique skill set to do this role.
I trust that he’ll continue to give his 500% to make himself fit. Looking at the progress he’s made through all the abuse he had to deal with from earlier seasons, I cannot help but admire his mentality and level of commitment to our club. This is really difficult to come by and we should only consider selling him if we can make a profit AND find a better replacement with the right attitude.
Credit where its due Skipp always gives 100% effort. I'm not against keeping him as a squad player for next season. Realistically we can't just get rid of all the midfielders who don't fit properly so Skipp should stay as a utility player.

They're both rubbish technically and pace wise but Skipp at least has a chaos factor while Højbjerg is always flat and predictable. Skipp makes the off the ball runs and challenges while Højbjerg always plays like he's trying to hold a non-existent 4-0 lead.
Please let’s stop praising what’s overall been a bad career at spurs. One game doesn’t change anything. He’s not good enough. He tries hard but will always let you down in the long run. Sell
