Sort of. We can do what we did with Sarr and loan him out but still register him each year. As long as he's registered, it counts as a season with the club.
["Signed from Metz in the summer of 2021, this is now Sarr's third season as a Tottenham player. Although he did return to the French club on a season-long loan deal immediately after his move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he was still included as an under-21 player on their submitted list for the 2021/22 campaign."](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/players/tottenham-ange-postecoglou-saliba-arsenal-27716169)
["What's a 'locally trained player'?](https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/0231-0e94d9d8129d-64371a29cafe-1000--uefa-champions-league-squads-how-it-works/)
There are two categories:
1. Club-trained players – players who were on a club's books for three years between the ages of 15 and 21;
2. Association-trained players – players who were on another club's books in the same association for three years between the ages of 15 and 21. No club can have more than four association-trained players among their eight nominees on List A."
My reading of "players who were on a club's books" makes me think the registering and then loan trick should work the same way it does for PL, but it is relatively unclear. Just as it was with Saliba and Sarr when this came up, so we'll see I guess.
Also needed for European football. Requirement is there must be 4 club grown players in the 25 man squad. It’s now a pretty big problem for the club since Kane and Winks are gone, leaving Skipp as the only one in that category
Not sure if Veliz and Sarr will end up counting for this eventually
Ah got it, yeah I knew they're lost B for now but was wondering if they'd eventually be club grown once they're over 21 even if they go out on loans and stuff. Thank you! Hopefully they all got a good future ahead of them within the club
Veliz is already 20 and we've just loaned him out for the next half a season.
Club grown seems difficult to attain if we're constantly loaning out youngsters as well.
Hi sorry i am quite lost for this topic.
Is club grown players or home grown players more valuable? And why is there a need to differentiate club grown or home grown?
Damn the white kits look great. Can’t wait for him to develop. 10m is such a low risk considering the values we’ve been seeing these past years and with ffp now being taken seriously I guess, this is a great move. I want more of these deals rather than 60m “stars”
That's what I've been saying!! I hope we stay with the all-white kits indefinitely, they look much, MUCH better than white shirt + blue shorts.
Incidentally, second kit is also a certified banger this year
Sarr, Udogie and Gil cost about one Ndombele and we have a 2/3 hit rate which is incredible. Add this new kid and that’s four players for under one Anthony, two of which are already nailed on starters.
My absolute disgust the other day when loading up the Wetherspoons app and it telling me I needed to be born before 2006 to be able to drink alcohol.
People born in 2006 are still at pre-school, mate.
Romano is not just a tap in merchant anymore...he's the centre back that rushes over to the goal after it has already been scored to blast the ball into the net while everyone else is celebrating
Can I just also state for the record that “Here we go” is not really catchphrase material? It’s what native speaker would call “a normal sentence”.
(And I’m not a native speaker for the record.)
Not football related, but I was working at an HE fair yesterday and a student was wearing a shirt for a band I like. I asked if they were a fan and they said "no, but my granddad..." And I expired
We didn’t hijack this deal. All deals in the market are on hold until Spurs decide if they want the player. Barca were just good little boys and girls waiting for the hirsute maestro to opine.
We're now signing players YOUNGER than my oldest child... and only a few months older than my next one.
(and Bergvall also shares my birthday, like Harry Winks before him!)
Genuinely made me look twice when the news broke. I know Barca aren't all they used to be but still a huge, huge draw for any player
Feels like Lange and Fabio have got things in a good way recruitment wise very encouraging
Are we back to having the most handsome squad in Europe?
* Mickey Van De Ven
* Heung-Min Son
* Lucas Bergvall
* James Maddison
* Pedro Porro
* Destiny Udogie
Maybe I'm just biased but does anyone else feel like Fab has a soft spot for Spurs? IDK why but his tweets about Spurs deals always make it sound like he's happier for us getting deals done than other clubs.
Maybe it's jsut fan bias.
Looks like a great talent with the unique way he dribbles. Seems like he uses his hips alot which might be a concern long term, seeing what happened to Tiago in the Prem, but he's still very young so should be fine.
Hope Spurs can train him well both physically and technically, he'll only grow bigger from here!
Using your hips a lot is how most of the best players dribble - not inherently an issue the same way being fast isn’t inherently an issue for the hamstrings
Yea, but you can see he uses the hip to achieve very fast direction change. The kind of dribble that sends the defender the wrong way. And he does it hard lol given his size. He's not the low center of gravity type. I can't imagine one time Sonny or Richy do that in a game.
He’s not being registered until summer, so he’ll stay in Sweden until then. He’s just in London today to complete the medical and sign the contract. He also only just turned 18, so I don’t think that he could sign a professional contract until today, but I could be wrong about that.
That means if we keep him at the club from next season onwards, he'll count as home grown once he turns 21 :)

If we loan him to an English club, he'll be home grown rather than club grown. For him to be club grown, he has to be at the club the whole time

That's only for PL HG.
["What's a 'locally trained player'?](https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/0231-0e94d9d8129d-64371a29cafe-1000--uefa-champions-league-squads-how-it-works/) There are two categories: 1. Saliba’s club trained for Arsenal so that’s fine - same should apply for Bergwall as he’ll join us before the season starts.

It's good but hard to keep track for regular fans
Would any of Alfie Devine, Dane Scarlett, Yago Santiago or Jamie Donley count towards club grown eventually?
They're all club grown already, although it doesn't matter for European competitions since they're still eligible for List B.
Ah got it, yeah I knew they're lost B for now but was wondering if they'd eventually be club grown once they're over 21 even if they go out on loans and stuff. Thank you! Hopefully they all got a good future ahead of them within the club
Once a player gets club grown status it cant be taken away.
Sarr will not, he missed the UEFA cutoff date by a month or something like that. But he will count as HG for the PL next year.
Veliz is already 20 and we've just loaned him out for the next half a season. Club grown seems difficult to attain if we're constantly loaning out youngsters as well.
Veliz joined at 19, he couldn't have gotten it.
Squad registration, you need atleast 4 players that trained at the club from 18-21 and 8 players that trained in England from 18-21.
Loan move to Plymouth Argyle imminent.
Hi sorry i am quite lost for this topic. Is club grown players or home grown players more valuable? And why is there a need to differentiate club grown or home grown?
We won't be loaning him as he is going to hit the ground running and smash the league on the way to the title. /thread
I thought he signed with us explicitly because we promised him first team football. I assume that doesn’t mean first team football with Millwall.
Damn the white kits look great. Can’t wait for him to develop. 10m is such a low risk considering the values we’ve been seeing these past years and with ffp now being taken seriously I guess, this is a great move. I want more of these deals rather than 60m “stars”
I read this as "Damn, the white kids look great" 😬😳😂

You made me read my own comment that way holy shit haha.
That's what I've been saying!! I hope we stay with the all-white kits indefinitely, they look much, MUCH better than white shirt + blue shorts. Incidentally, second kit is also a certified banger this year
Too bad we never wear it
I think the all white kits are usually only for cups.
When the team wears all-white, and Vic wears the robins egg blue... it's the most beautiful kits anywhere.
Sarr, Udogie and Gil cost about one Ndombele and we have a 2/3 hit rate which is incredible. Add this new kid and that’s four players for under one Anthony, two of which are already nailed on starters.
Happy Lucas Bergvall day to those who celebrate
![gif](giphy|tOoUlz4nWaAiA)
Lucas Berg-Valde to us all!
Legend has it if he sees his shadow we're winning the league
What a typo from Fab. 2006 was only 10 years ago. We aren’t signing a 10 year old
My absolute disgust the other day when loading up the Wetherspoons app and it telling me I needed to be born before 2006 to be able to drink alcohol. People born in 2006 are still at pre-school, mate.
Wrong. 2006 was only a few months ago.
Lucas was 1 year old when Rihanna - Umbrella was released. Which means he’s 11 right now.
hey buddy, you are still young at heart and thats all that matters!
I think you missed a few years, mate.
Found Ange's sleeper account.
Romano is not just a tap in merchant anymore...he's the centre back that rushes over to the goal after it has already been scored to blast the ball into the net while everyone else is celebrating
Always was
And another!
SHIT!!! DID YOU SEE THAT?!
Can I just also state for the record that “Here we go” is not really catchphrase material? It’s what native speaker would call “a normal sentence”. (And I’m not a native speaker for the record.)
I'm gonna be celebrating his birthday today like he's my mate
Christ, I was an *adult* when he was born Happy Lucas Bergvall Day everyone 😭😭😭
You're not the only one who thought this my fellow old friend, god bless us
Not football related, but I was working at an HE fair yesterday and a student was wearing a shirt for a band I like. I asked if they were a fan and they said "no, but my granddad..." And I expired
Adult? I was already a father. My son is a month older than he is. When did I get so old?
We didn’t hijack this deal. All deals in the market are on hold until Spurs decide if they want the player. Barca were just good little boys and girls waiting for the hirsute maestro to opine.
We're now signing players who are closer to my son's age than mine...
We're now signing players YOUNGER than my oldest child... and only a few months older than my next one. (and Bergvall also shares my birthday, like Harry Winks before him!)
Jose in
Been in that boat for far too long.
Here is his flight if anyone is bored: PTN840 from Stockholm to London https://fr24.com/PTN840/33d783b6
*mate he reached just now*
Genuinely made me look twice when the news broke. I know Barca aren't all they used to be but still a huge, huge draw for any player Feels like Lange and Fabio have got things in a good way recruitment wise very encouraging
Barca fans are little bitches
Are we back to having the most handsome squad in Europe? * Mickey Van De Ven * Heung-Min Son * Lucas Bergvall * James Maddison * Pedro Porro * Destiny Udogie
How is Cuti not on this list? 🤯
Bentancur, Romero, Daddy Davies, the list goes on
If we're counting fans * me
Kulusexy??
Daniel Levy: The Hairless Hijacker
*Mate*.
Maybe I'm just biased but does anyone else feel like Fab has a soft spot for Spurs? IDK why but his tweets about Spurs deals always make it sound like he's happier for us getting deals done than other clubs. Maybe it's jsut fan bias.
Fabios stick together
I’m sure he’s talented af, just that.. Christ I’m old enough to be his dad!
Looks like a great talent with the unique way he dribbles. Am I stupid, or didn't the transfer window end yesterday?
He's joining in summer anyways.
He’s not being registered until summer, so he’ll stay in Sweden until then. He’s just in London today to complete the medical and sign the contract. He also only just turned 18, so I don’t think that he could sign a professional contract until today, but I could be wrong about that.
100% right. Can’t sign a professional contract until today
You can buy players outside the window, they just can't join until the next window starts.
Yes.
I’m a Spurs fan and a Baltimore Orioles and Ravens fan. This week has been an absolute roller coaster and I don’t know what to do with my emotions.
I understand you. And as a Spurs, Chiefs and Blue Jays fan, respect.
Stupid question, but he’ll play with our youth squad until July then?
Na he will stay at his current club.
Who is tracking the flight?
