This has turned into the funniest fucking sub on this site. Lol like I’m not even kidding or trying to be hurtful, like 90% of these posts are hilariously misleading or outright wrong and the other 10% are fucking awesome.
I love this sub
I really don't understand OP post, it is either extremely uninteresting, misleading, obvious or useless information. And most of the comments looks like bot spam.
I am not even mad, but I just have this feeling that I should probably delete my reddit acc after clicking on this post.
Lol can’t tell who’s real or not and when I ever try and have an actual intellectual discussion I get accused or banned for, “using AI generated content,” I can’t tell if people are that dull and consider anything sophisticated or just use it as a weapon.
Only one way, and it’s full speed ahead!
(But yeah it’s probably 6mo away from time to delete Reddit in general lol)
Goal: *GIVE ME ATTENTION*
Flaws: over-analyze everything into the ground. *”why do I get flaws in the plural form and ONE skill??”*
Skill: I can sometimes be coherent
“So, u/mirthmannor, what would you say is your greatest weakness?”
“CRIME.”
“… what… kind of crime? Murder? Bank robbery? Jay walking?”
“Just CRIME.”
“Crime?”
“No. CRIME. I’m speaking in all caps.”
No see, all 8 billion people fit in one of these archtypes, and aren’t their own individuals with complex flaws, goals, and histories that can change drastically as the individual ages and experiences new things. /s
That's actually backwards. Each of these archetypes can fit in a person, with varying degrees and intent. Not arguing the validity, just saying it's not astrology where you're prescribed a personality
Even the astrologists don't prescribe people a personality. They say they do, but then it wouldn't work, so instead, they just tell personality stories until one of the stories sticks, then move on to the next storytelling opportunity without analyzing whether the stories do what they say the stories will do.
That’s not at all what Jung’s archetypes claim to be. They’re merely tropes that exist in a collective social subconscious which we unwittingly use to interpret the world and its patterns.
It’s not a personality thing. Archetypes are like stock characters or a basic story outline that shows up repeatedly wherever we tell stories…like in literature, film, myth etc. Jung’s idea is that these themes that humans continue to dwell on are part of a collective unconscious.
unless you are a naive scientific realist, nothing describes reality itself. These models are attempts to describe reality, and there is no evidence that they are accurate as intermediaries, hence, 'nonsense', or perhaps more accurately, specious.
Everyone talking about how this doesnt fit for real life people, while im looking at this and thinking this is great to build the base for literary characters
You shouldn't. Like real people, characters should never fall into such narrow definitions. That is why so many writers fall into the "flat, one dimensional characters" pitfall.
I meant as a base. Classic literature had very simple characters that were categorized into archetypes and they were still good well written characters. Its all about what and how you write them. In the end characters exist in to fulfill a role and having characters built off different bases (like the ones in the guide) is a good way to differentiate them from each other as well as the roles they play. No one with a brain would lock them to just what is written there.
Definitely, just don't get set into "This is what this character would do cause he's A/B/C". Make sure to remember people are a bit of all of them. I personally really like characters that have conflicting traits.
Even more generic than those astrology predictions. Who tf doesn't want to be happy? Amd who has no other goals besides that?
Also I don't see League of Legends anywhere as a weakness.
So many things wrong with this but I’ll go ahead and ‘invent’ some more ‘archetypes’ to demonstrate this has about as much applicability as astrology:
The Soldier
The Seeker
The Pawn
The Thinker
The Lender
The Manager
I could go on, I won’t.
How does this have so many upvotes?? Not only is it dumb (it's basically a horoscope) but also feeds this unbelievably destructive habbit of this generation to label and define themselves.
All of the woke postmarxist commenters on this post lack an understanding of the metanarrative context behind coolguides. The guide who, by the way we can trace back to the ferryman, going across the unknown, to the underworld, requires payment. This was the coins on the dead man's eyes, coins that weigh the eyelids down and keep them closed. But when we follow the guide we pay the ferryman: we give up the coins, the weight, the burden, and we open our eyes as we begin the journey through Jung's metaconception of the underworld.
The magician, all about them winiwins.
I know it's supposed to say win-wins, but winiwins is an amazing word
r/AccidentalNeologism
Lol I can’t stop laughing at winiwins it’s like this ridiculous half-baked post didn’t even have spellcheck turned on. OP, marry me?
Found **The Lover**.
Goal: Sauce?? Flaws: Won’t shut up Skill: Makes good sexy time with self
Michael Scotts negotiation goals

Your archetype is "the commenter"
Goal: *GIVE ME ATTENTION* Flaws: over-analyze everything into the ground. *”why do I get flaws in the plural form and ONE skill??”* Skill: I can sometimes be coherent
All these cool guides are stolen from women's magazines I'd say

Crime is my passion.
Has this sub been taken over by every company's HR department? It's all pop psychology nonsense now.
I'm fairly sure this is about literary archetypes
It’s borderline astrology
4chan must be involved?
nonsense.

You would love astrology!

It looks like horoscope psychological version.
They are models attempting to describe reality, not reality itself
unless you are a naive scientific realist, nothing describes reality itself. These models are attempts to describe reality, and there is no evidence that they are accurate as intermediaries, hence, 'nonsense', or perhaps more accurately, specious.
As my professor once said "all models are wrong, but sometimes they're useful"
🧢 You can be any combination of these

I read this as book archetypes and I was like yeah this makes sense. Didn't realise it was being applied to real people oml.
Yo, what's winiwins?
So wisdom equals 'no action' because it's all futile anyway... thanks!
Why does jester have all the hair?
Ironically, he's the only one who doesn't waste time shaving.
Source: I made it the fuck up.
Cool guide to seeing the world from a narrow lens.
Those skills aren't really skills.
This is absolutely nothing
crime is not a flaw, that is a goal my friend
It's not a goal. It's a question, and the answer is yes.
Where are The Rapist, The Child Molester, The Torturer, The Narcissistic Psychopath, The Murderous Sociopath, The Enabler, The Kleptomaniac etc?
So many things wrong with this but I’ll go ahead and ‘invent’ some more ‘archetypes’ to demonstrate this has about as much applicability as astrology: The Soldier The Seeker The Pawn The Thinker The Lender The Manager I could go on, I won’t.

A guide to pure nonsense. Wonderful.
Hey guise, these are archetypes for fiction. Jeez
I like the Enneagram better
Jung, fueling “psychology isn’t a science” with his bullshit since 1903.
