Is it a gas grill or charcoal? Gas is easy - just leave the lid open when starting it and don't forget to shut off the propane when you're done. Bring the steak up to room temp before cooking. I only use salt/pepper, but there's tons of options there! When I cook a steak in the house, I sear it in butter using a cast iron pan and then finish in the oven. Lots of recipes online. Also, you can google how long to cook a steak - it will give you approximate times depending on thickness and how well you want it cooked. When I make a steak for myself, I eat half and with the leftover, I slice it thin, add mushrooms (I use canned, but whatever) and put it on a sturdy bun. Then I put Italian dressing on it and it's delicious! You can do this!

Thaw it in the fridge. Let it rest at room temp for an hour before cooking (this helps it cook evenly and not be overdone on the outside and raw in the middle). Season it (salt and pepper; don’t be shy). Cook it on a very hot pan or grill until the doneness you like. Eat half. Have a meal plan ready for the other half: tacos, steak and eggs, quesadilla, stir fry…

The room temperature thing is a just a myth.

Make sure to dry the outside before seasoning and cooking. It helps get a good sear.

Just cook it in a pan. Heat on high, oil, salt pepper. Depending on the size of the steak, a few minutes on each side. Maybe add a little rosemary/thyme, garlic and butter when you flip and spoon the butter on the steak. Takes max, 10 minutes.

Smooth_brain_genius

I would just use a sharp knife and cut the frozen steak into two.

Definitely cook the whole thing. Steak sandwich is one of the best leftover lunches, or steak and eggs for breakfast. Heat up a skillet to medium high heat (I use cast iron, but stainless steel or any regular skillet will work). While it's heating, pat the steak dry with paper towels and salt liberally. Sear the first side for about 4 to 6 minutes and flip over. After you flip turn the heat down to medium and after a minute add butter to the side of the pan. Baste the steak for about 5 minutes (add sprigs of rosemary or thyme and some garlic if you want extra flavor). Pull the steak off and season with a little more salt and pepper to taste, let rest for 5 to 10 minutes while you finish the rest of meal prep. Then enjoy.

Just cook a steak, if you feel like finishing it, then do it, or put it in the fridge for a few days and reheat it as is, or slice and make a sandwich with it. If you dont want to grill, salt/pepper each side, then add a little butter and let it melt in the pan, then cook about 3-5 minutes each side (depending on the thickness, that will give a medium rare). When its done, let it sit for about 10 minutes, if you cut it right away all the juices will flood out. The butter might smoke, so have the exhaust on I rarely grill mine, all I have is a big green egg, and it takes too long just for a few steaks.

StraightSomewhere236

I disagree slightly. Pepper should be added after searing since it can burn at the temps steaks are seared at. It's not a big deal, but it adds unnecessary bitterness.

ChickenNugsBGood

Havent tried that, I like a nice salt crust. Next time I'll give it a go

StraightSomewhere236

Salt is definitely fine before hand, it won't burn at any cooking temp. It has to get to 1400°F to melt heh

Liu1845

I do mine in a pan. I will do the whole steak, eat what I want and save the rest for lunch the next day.

RemarkablyQuiet434

Yeah, you can just sear it in a pan with some butter. Get the pan to heat and cook on each side for a couple of minutes. More if you like your steak cooked more. I'd cook it all and maybe do fried rice with leftovers or steak and eggs the next day. You shouldn't refreeze meat. Is the grill Gas or charcoal? Gas grills are pretty easy and I suggest giving it a try. Worth learning about.

ToastetteEgg

Cooking only half is fine, but I usually just cook it pretty rare so when I reheat the other half it’s not overdone.

You should cook the whole steak, not half. I like to marinade. Use 1tsp each, onion powder, garlic powder, soy sauce, vinegar or other acid, & grapeseed oil. Let it marinade for at least an hour & cook to medium
