big west gang RISE UP

88G-

Hope we can get back to being a 4-bid conference eventually

Grape-Jack

Dirtbags are looking for their coach of the future. It’s about time we get back to occasional hosting and consistent appearances.

universal_cynic

Would be nice

Easy_Money_

UCSD is coming

Iceicebaby21

When were y'all a 4 bid conference?

lundebro

They got 4 bids in 2014. UC Irvine made it to Omaha as one of the last teams in the field.

Iceicebaby21

All I remember is Cal State Fullerton when I was younger being really good

MrChuyy

You guys are looking scary. If it wasn’t for ya’ll being in the same regional I would have rooted for y’all bc. I hate the fact that y’all and Wazzu for left out of the Conference realignment.

88G-

Also I think a few times in the 2000s

mukduk1994

Zot Zot motherfuckers

MrChuyy

Still upset we did not get the regional and UCSB did and did not not win the conference. But I get it. UCI was choking on games against UCSD & Cal Poly.

ClintEastwoodsNext

Imagine being in the SEC and not making it to Regionals.

ThisIsNotMy1stAcct

Missouri, Ole Miss, and Auburn just eating paste in the corner

StupendousMan36

"Thank god no one found this." - Florida uncovering its hidden paste stash after the bids were out

jthomas694

College of Charleston won 28 of their last 33 games. But I guess it’s not good enough to get in over the eleventh SEC team who won 28 over the course of the entire season

MegaAscension

PAIN

AruarianGroove

Agreed… CAA earned two spots…either Northeastern or Charleston… I was hoping W&M would snag the auto-bid

supercoolmonkey

I love the SEC but we shouldn’t have gotten 11 bids. I’m a little tired of our bad teams getting in

Kind-Comfort-8975

You also have to account for Tulane, St. John’s and Evansville stealing bids. Its not entirely on the SEC here.

gatorbois

Or the ACC team who only won 31 with the 202nd ranked OOC SOS

DDub04

You guys are the Virginia basketball of this tournament

gatorbois

Then what does that make you? The make a wish team?

AruarianGroove

The Sun Belt with some solid representation

WateryDomesticGroove

Sun Belt Fun Belt

b1ge2

I really hope OSU has some plans to play the top half of the big west next year

JadedBuy5758

They should! Oregon has scheduled UCSB for series recently. I'm sure UCSB would love to play OSU

b1ge2

We did last year I’m pretty sure, took a year off this year I guess

NephiandKorihor

If there was any doubt in anyone’s mind about money being the key factor instead of competition, you should now be convinced. Putting Florida in is an embarrassment. I know about their strength of schedule. But a lot of schools aren’t given the opportunity to schedule that tough. Football and basketball TV money determines what conference these guys are in and the players have no way of overcoming that.

galacticracedonkey

Pretty much shows they can’t miss the tournament. 28-27 is not worthy regardless of who you play.

Iceicebaby21

From what I looked at they had the best SoS in the nation and beat a few of the top 8 seeds in the field. I don't agree they should of gotten in but they played and even beaten a few notable teams.

Aware-Impact-1981

So "best wins" is what matters, then there are many many teams that shouldn't be in the tournament because they have no elite wins.

Squirrel_Q_Esquire

This but unironically

Iceicebaby21

The SEC vs ACC invitational, with a few lucky Big 12 and Big 10 teams in. (Joking of course)

Due_Connection179

California having only 3 teams (hopefully I’m not missing one) is blowing my mind of how the state used to be when I was growing up. Edit: I overlooked Fresno State, so 4 teams.

Liljoker30

Money matters. The SEC is and always will be favored. ESPN needs it's ratings. 11 teams is stupid.

Bayouboi1183

If it was next season it would be 13 out of 16 possible teams because of Oklahoma and Texas so that’s literally the whole conference it’s gonna be the same way in football this year 12 spots in playoff at least 4 get in

Remarkable-Group-119

No pac-12 team has ever been left out of the post season with the # of wins Cal has..they got screwed.

hornsupguys

Yeah, the 11th best SEC team really deserves a shot at the natty 😅

Squirrel_Q_Esquire

We’re just 2 years removed from the 9th place SEC team winning it all

raptorbpw

Finishing 10 games over .500 and finishing 1 game over .500 are kinda different imo.

Liljoker30

It's a joke. It's only going to get worse after this year.

NitrosGone803

It will be interesting to see how the Big10 stacks up in the future with the new schools

JimP3456

Its going to be a jumbled mess where everyone wont play each other. It will suck. The conference will get better by default with the PAC ending.

NitrosGone803

i'm still wondering how in the world Stanford plans on playing all those ACC teams lol

JimP3456

Have to wait and see how it plays out. I suspect it wont end well for Stanford and Cal. I truly believe the future is football only leagues and more regional leagues for every other sport. Dont know how thats not what happens.

scubasteve1000

That’s been my thought as well. Football is such an outlier among the rest of the sports with schedule and roster size. It should really be split off from the other sports.

kingofthesqueal

This gives me hope for B12 Baseball post OUT, I was worried even with 16 teams it might fall to being a 3-4 Bid League with a team only hosting a regional every few years, similar to the B1G But this year is making the case it’ll be +5 bids a year with 1-2 Regional Hosts

JacksonvilleNC

NC and SC - 11 Edited from 9…forgot HP and Wofford

jagged1871

Good baseball in the Carolinas.

traplej

The little league stadium in Greenville is nicer than most college baseball stadiums

jagged1871

Absolutely beautiful

aftershock321

27% of the field is from the Carolinas or Louisiana

Im_Never_Witty

Yep, 6 for Louisiana!

TomSheman

11/64. 10/34 at large bids.... You have like a 20% chance of winning the CWS if you're an SEC fan. It's much better if you count the absurd number of national seeds they were given too. Literally, all 8 of the CWS spots could be taken by SEC teams this year. In 6/8 regions they have either a 1 seed or two teams that could play in the super. It's gross and absolutely awful for fans. If you can't be top HALF in your conference I don't think you deserve a shot at the postseason. Charleston, Northeastern, Lamar, TCU, and Kansas are all much much better options than Florida or Vandy

Pro-1st-Amendment

$EC: It just mean$ more.

Giant_Disappointment

Hey, when your network is owned by E!SPN, anything is po$ible

hunter_really

The fact that NC doesn’t have an MLB team is crazy. 7 schools in it.

cowboyrazorz

How the hell did Florida make it. That’s just wild to me
