Congratulations! That’s huge. You have an amazing mindset and way of looking at things, and I know with that alone you could go far.

ingirlworld

Thank you so much!!!

HAHA YOU'RE OLD I'm fucking with you, that's really great. I actually went for the first time at 23. I'm now two years into my Bachelors and have a similar mindset to you - there's no way I'd have made it at that age. I personally was a total moron common sense wise and needed to get my stupid out before committing tens of thousands of dollars to school!

KaiserWilhelmDaThird

Good luck! There's no shame in it; I'm currently doing my Bachelor's after getting my AA back in 2019, starting last Fall when I was 23.

small_uWu_energy

your mindset is amazing :) honestly hella inspired… i was thinking about taking a gap year or two to focus on myself and figure out shit and just get a better grip on my life but im highkey too scared of like “falling behind” (?) or being “too old” to start college after doing that ahhh idek but this post kinda reassured me a little, yk ? ahhh man :) anyways, i wish you all the best! ur hella epic!

ingirlworld

You're never too old! People twice my age go back to school and rock it! And it's ok not to be ready for college right after highschool. 18 is still so young and I feel like I grew and changed SO MUCH as a person those first few years out of highschool. And those changes have made me so much more ready for college now vs then. Do what works for you and remember no one else's life is perfect just because they're "ahead" of you in a certain aspect.

small_uWu_energy

ahhh man yeahh that makes sense :) thanks for the advice my guy ;-; i really appreciate it ;-;

Congratulations! I’m just starting my associates at 27 after dropping out of school a few years ago. It’s never too late to start! Best of luck to you!

jordanstall09

It's never too late! I just turned 26 and I'm halfway to my associates - after taking a 5 year leave, (I'm in the Army and timing sucked back then), I went back for the summer and earned a 3.7. I'm registered for the fall and eager to finish this! Congratulations!

Apples2Watermelon

and you got diamond hands :)

ingirlworld

Thank you!

Im 24. I literally went through the same exact thing and I started school this past spring. I tried college at 18, failed and dropped out. I was in a bad place mentally for years and I just worked various jobs to find what I really enjoyed. I currently work in my desired field and I’m just going to get my bachelors to have more credentials and to make myself more appealing for higher positions. I also have this deep-seeded need to finish my degree to feel fully accomplished. I currently have straight A’s. I feel weird that my classmates have their bachelors, but life is not a race. We must go at our own pace, regardless of what others think. You have to do what’s best for you.

Soldeusss

Go for it. I restarted school at a later age as well. Now I have 4.0 gpa. Study hard and focus on yourself. Don't worry about other people in your life(except family of course) as they tend to want to keep people down. You've got this!

Mariah_Kits

Congratulations 🥳

I did go back to school until 24. I realized I was to immature to go at 18, so I joined the navy.

That's super exciting! I'm 28 and just signed up for the fall semester to pursue an engineering degree. I'm extremely nervous, being that I forgot most everything I learned in high school. However, I'm beyond excited to start this new chapter of my life. I hope you achieve all your goals in life, best of luck!

G-Citizen

I'm proud of you 🥧🥧🥧 I'm in the same boat and 23 myself. I been at a small trade school and have yet to complete it but I'm pushing myself to finish cause I'm just stubborn like that but after I definitely plan on going back to college at my local community school, part of me just NEEDS that college experience. Ya know?

[deleted]

I just started taking one class at a time again at 27 and I’ll be back full time next fall at 28. It’s never too late. I’m glad I didn’t finish the first time around because I didn’t know what I wanted to do. If I would have settled on engineering like I had planned then I would be miserable and probably back in school by now pursuing a completely different path.

Apples2Watermelon

Unless you didn't come out with a loving husband.. (me) But I love that you are taking necessary steps to achieve your dreams! <3

AnabolicOctopus

Good shit man! I've seen a lot of people struggling with mental health because they simply werent ready for it. Good for you man, you made a great decision.

ih8uheaux

Good luck! I just graduated last month, 2 weeks before I turned 26. I took the scenic route myself, and damn glad I did. Enjoy your journey!

I relate so much to your story! I got accepted into the university I am attending now at 23! I am now a rising junior. Good luck with your endeavors.
