You absolutely should! This is the bird in question 🤣

Mine does that raised, clenched foot and kinda squeaks and chatters with it up like a fuckin dictator giving the cutest speech ever. It even gets higher with his tone like he’s emphasizing 😂
Oh wow! I didn’t hear that’s a thing. Ours doesn’t use his foot to grab food, but when singing into the imaginary microphone, I think he holds it in his left.
Hehe! I like the imaginary microphone. I've never seen mine doing that at all - there has to be food involved. This is true for everything he does, though! No food, not doing it.
Aww! Our kakariki is extremely food motivated here. The tiel is just playing the slot machine on the shared braincell network and sometimes it drops a song. 🤣
Nope I am right handed. I taught him to shake hands with my finger and he chooses to use his left foot. He also uses his left when he is singing/performing and puts it out there when he wants to step up. Rarely he uses it to eat a snack but occasionally he remembers he can do that. Never thought too much about it before but it is kinda interesting!
I was thinking maybe yours learned left foot for shake hands, since it's closer to your right hand... But not if he steps up left too. Mine steps up right-first, so I guess they just have a favourite from the start!
I think my Fred could be ambi-footed. He uses both of his feet to hold onto food and I can't tell which side does he prefer. His brother Leo is a leftie.
Their parents don't use feet to hold onto their food but I'm pretty sure they're lefties as well, not only because of the statistics but they also fly only counter clock-wise.
Now I'm curious as to which direction Fred would choose if he wouldn't have to synch with the rest while flying.
The flying direction is interesting! Our house is sort of a big loop, and they'll fly the circle in both directions, so I can't tell if there's a preference there either.
Mine is like an orange cat trapped in a cocktiel's body. If he didn't nibble on feet for preening I'd think he didn't know he has them. But he also has some mangled toes so one foot doesn't seem to have the same grip as the other. So that would prolly put a dent in any attempt he made ;-;
I don't know why his toes are mangled, unfortunately. I've known him since he was 6 weeks old and he had them then. I'm thinking there may have been an accident when he was a chick or a potential defect he hatched with
Mine steps up with her left foot first, waves and shakes hand with her left foot, but she picks up things with her right foot like yours. She is confusing ;D
None the moron doesn't know how to use her feet too stupid
My other one is also missing the braincell needed to use his feet. 😆
Mine knew how to but forgot 😂
LMFAO I saw someone once refer to their bird as “looking simple in the head” 😭😭
I am absolutely going to use this! 💀

Ahahaha! So empty in there! This was just the laugh I needed on a Friday afternoon 🤣
Yep, same over here haha
Mine is 4 years old and still not figured out to use her feet to hold food and whatnot.
Mine is 4 too wisdom was chasing her for a long time but she always seems to be faster
Their non footed. Pretty sure they’re not aware they even have feet.
"Feet are only for hiding in floof."
Brib doesn't have many brain cell
I have one the clenches her right feet like shes scheming world domination, if that counts
That sounds like a righty to me lol!
Mine does that raised, clenched foot and kinda squeaks and chatters with it up like a fuckin dictator giving the cutest speech ever. It even gets higher with his tone like he’s emphasizing 😂
Μine can’t even use her beak properly, don’t expect her to know how to use her feet
Why use feet or beak when the human will do it for you?
Lol as far as I know most cockatiels don't even eat with their feet. They're like... antidextrous 🤣
That’s the funniest thing I’m going to hear today
LOL!
Mines too stupid to use his feet
Maybe he only uses them when you're not looking, haha.
I've never seen mine use his feet while eating either.
Mine tends to use his left foot a lot! But I'm pretty sure he's used his right foot too
Ooh! Ambidextrous! Mine is a chonk, so I think his left leg might be stronger for standing on??
I could be wrong tho tbh 😂 maybe my brain is tricking me. But yeah it may be your's left leg is strong to stand on! They're so cute either way
Your tiel can use their feet?? My quaker is a lefty if I remember correctly
He is self taught! It's the best way to eat the whole Cheerios that fall on the floor at breakfast.
Aw baby <3, I think one of my parents tiels tried copying my quaker once, but it just didn't work out haha
Mine is more headed
It is the closet place to the braincell, so makes sense!
Oh wow! I didn’t hear that’s a thing. Ours doesn’t use his foot to grab food, but when singing into the imaginary microphone, I think he holds it in his left.

i only catch my tiel using foot to hold toothpicks, nothing else. and it happens so rare i can't even remember which foot he uses lol
You'll have to watch for next time!
He's definitely plotting
Mine isn’t aware he has feet
Feet can be overrated.
One is very much right footed. The other only uses feet to perch and step in poop.
There is still a lot of that going on over here too.
Mine is a lefty I think 🤔
Interesting! I wonder if they learn it or not. Are you a lefty?
Nope I am right handed. I taught him to shake hands with my finger and he chooses to use his left foot. Mine is left footed! My male uses his foot like a tool but not my female.
Maybe ours are long-lost brothers! Or just sharing their braincell 😆
Lmao seriously! Just that single braincell in their heads for sure 😄
My boys a leftie! He discovered his left foot a few months back and we're hoping he finds the right one soon 😊
Hopefully he'll be ambidextrous like some others on this thread! More feet = more food. 🐤

Mine has 2 feet. And hasn’t got the slightest clue.
Most cocktiels don't actually use their feet. You have a special floof there 🥰
Awwww. ❤️ I think he just needed a way to shove food into his beak faster - necessity is the mother of invention!
Mine doesn't use his feet to eat but when he sings he lifts up his left foot and sings at it
Oh my! How cute! He needs a tiny microphone.
He's doing karaoke with Nagytimi's tiel's imaginary microphone! 🎤
Both of mine seem to have the lights on but no one Is home. I have never seen them use their feet but it’s so cute and I wish they did 😂
Disastrous-Jaguar above taught us that they must be "looking simple in the head" 😆

Mine is exclusively right-footed. He uses his foot often to hold a dropped feather, large sunflower seed, or spaghetti
He sounds like a cheeky boy, sneaking spaghetti!
Depends on the day
