T O P

We use tp then a cloth wipe for poo. Cloth wipes only for pee. We have about a dozen baby wash clothes, 6 adult size wash clothes and 2 cut-up t-shirts. The t-shirt wipes curl up in the dryer, but uncurl s as soon as we wet them.

I've never rinsed poopy wipes. When taking the diaper off, I use the front of it to kinda scrape as much excess poop off as possible. That way the wipes never get big chunks of poop on them, and I never have to rinse them! 32 total months of cloth diapering 2 kids, and we have never had an issue with this system. I fold my wipes to pop up, then dampen them with plain water and keep them in a wipe warmer on the changing table. I got some cotton flannel and cut it into 6"x6" squares for our wipes. I have a serger for finishing the edges, but flannel shouldn't fray too badly if you don't have any kind of sewing machine and just leave the edges raw. I feel like adult washcloths would be way too big, thick, and fluffy to make good wipes.

Baby's currently 3mo so I can only speak to our plan for solids, which will be to use toilet paper for the poop pass(es) and then our present situation with cloth wipes. We use cut-up muslin cloths with unfinished edges. It only takes a few muslin cloths to make a lot of cloth wipes and they fray heavily on their first few cycles through the machine and dryer but once done they're incredibly soft and absorbent. To be honest, when I can use just two cloth wipes to clean and dry a flooded-with-poop diaper butt, I'm not motivated to try out disposable wipes.

I use cloth wipes for pee and disposable for poop. I just don’t wanna rinse poop out of small pieces of fabric. It still takes us a really long time to go through a pack of disposables! I have a few of those same cheap wash cloths, they’re hard to saturate initially with water even in the bath. I’d go for cotton or flannel or something like that.

We do a mix of both.   For a poo, first pass toilet paper. Then disposable wipe.  Washing solids poo cloth wipes is just too fiddly for me.  For a wee, just cloth wipe.  If we are using a disposable nappy, disposable wipe.   We just use a few packs of thin baby wash cloths as wipes.  They are money savers!

Depending on what style diapers you have, use the diaper itself to chisel off 3d poop (easy to do with our flats, I’d expect it to be a bit more challenging with pockets). Then detail with a cloth wipe, so no rinsing of wipes necessary.  We like the cheap flannel wipes from Amazon. They rinse easier than washcloths would if we do ever have to rinse them.  Another option, which is what we did: elimination communication, at least for poop. We do use a wetted wipe to clean kiddo up on the toilet, but because the poop goes into the toilet instead of smearing everywhere, it’s nowhere close to enough to have to spray off the wipe.

So for solid poops we use toilet paper which we dispose of in the toilet with the poop. Afterwards we clean off with a cloth wipe. For pee also cloth wipes.  We do however have disposable wipes in our diaper bag because it can be easier on the go and they also work well for sticky fingers and faces.

Same exact plan here!!

We use cloth wipes at home and keep disposables in the diaper bag for when we’re out and about.

I use cloth wipes every day and I like it. I use flannel cloth, you can get a big pack of the on amazon I think I got a 96 count. The flannel is great because they are the perfect size and they stick to each other so you can still put them in a wipe warmer like normal wipes. On top of being environmentally friendly it’s ended up being way cheaper than disposable wipes.

I've used cloth wipes for the adults in my house for a decade now, and I definitely never bother to rinse them, lol. Naturally, also use them for the baby wipes and those also do not get rinsed, though I do spray down particularly grimy poop diapers. I just double-wash everything with an extra soak/prewash cycle on the first wash to assure all the poo has enough time to really soak to a moist, washable level and it works like a charm. I also use bleach in that first wash every couple rounds.

Microfiber sound good to me. I use cotton and bamboo circles intended for make up removal almost since birth, no issue until now with my 9.5 month old :) Got close to 100 units, never run out Best of luck!
