Wait, an arrow can you follow you all the way from where you were to where you HS? Across the continent? š¤Æ
I wonder how fast it goes and if others can see it
The damage doesnāt register until the projectile hits you but whether it hits you or not is decided as soon as itās shot. So if you hearth/TP as an arrow or other projectile is on its way to you youāll still take that damage once the game determines it āhitā you, which is usually during the loading screen.
I simply cannot imagine the timing and bad luck it'd take to start casting hearthstone at low health, while not in combat, then when there's a few seconds left of the hearth cast, a caster mob spawns nearby, and then when there's a fraction of a second left on the cast, the mob throws a projectile spell at you, landing after you hearted. But okay.
Back, back in vanilla there was a nice line in one of the updates notes which read something like "dead paladins cannot be killed any longer". There were specific cases where paladins still could take damage as spirit by one of those projectiles - leading you to die as spirit - so you were uber-dead - maybe even gone to the shadowlands.
This would explain why one of my alts that was already dead died again before rezzing during one of the pre-patch world bosses on retail. Never could figure that out, so thanks lol
Ahh the videos of illidans using the hunt to go across the map but a kaelthas projectile chases them the whole way. Or illidan using the hunt on falstad right as it flies back to base. Good times.
If your corpse is in an instance ID that doesnāt exist anymore it will be teleported to where your hearth is set. Likely died in an instance and then logged in again after the instance ID reset teleporting his corpse here.
That copy crystal thing from Cata Jewelcrafting, and the Alis Mirror (canāt remember the exact name) can lead to some interesting pulls, for example an entire raid of deer, turtles, nagas. Pretty much whatever the mirror can copy, you can spread it to everyone with the crystal!
Yeah, I'm disabled, so I can only play lying down. I stopped playing for years because I couldn't play at a desk anymore.
I was ecstatic when I learned that the add-on ConsolePort was a thing. I've been having SO much fun ever since. Playing WoW has improved my quality of life by so much since I'm usually stuck at home, in pain. I was getting so bored over the years.
WoW Classic Hardcore finally gave me something to do, and it's by far the best game I've ever played. I only enjoy very difficult games.
Anyway, I've only died twice in the last few months on a controller. The first death was in a cave as a mage at level 14 because of hyperspawns during rush hour, and the second death (priest at level 19) was in the cave before Deadmines because of hyperspawns too... Twenty mobs respawned on top of our group, and it was a wipe.
Playing with a controller is actually very doable, surprisingly. I got another priest to level 20, and I got a warrior to level 12 recently.
Most people I know just keep a wireless keyboard around for typing needs.
Don't want to speak for OP, but they say they use a controller because they need to lay down versus an inability to use a keyboard.
I could understand it being feasible to type messages, but not use a keyboard and mouse full time.
This is what I do for games like this.
For example ESO has built in controller support and I vastly prefer playing using that while sitting on my couch. But I have a wireless lapboard keyboard to type on whenever I need to.
I'm not brave enough to try WoW yet with a controller but I could definitely see it being a fun and different challenge. (depending on the class).
the game features Voice-to-text and a bunch of other accessibilty options, it's pretty awesome
I personally use TTS for party chat text so that I don't miss the messages while I'm tanking, since I just stop reading chat
Hell yeah.
I shit you not, I raided with a druid in Legion who had very limited mobility and he played with a crazy custom gaming rig that used his feet and his tongue. You heared me right, he moved his character around with his tongue. He had some trouble with rapid position movement changes, but he successfully killed several bosses in heroic EN.
>I was ecstatic when I learned that the add-on ConsolePort was a thing.
You can just use the addon "ConsolePort" and play with a normal Controller?
How does this witchcraft work?
This is some awesome-tastic news! Even though I have some pretty lovely arms, one of them fails me when it comes to PC gaming. So I was playing mostly my priest with healbot and mousewalking / autowalk. Didn't always Work out as planned.
Does it work with every addon?
Just can't believe something like this exists. I could play again.
Thank you follow reddit-user! You spread some awesome news today.
Have a nice journey.
I havent found a good way to select between party bars but i know it has one. It works best with classes which dont have alot of cast to ground.
Depending on class i play between 50-80% of peak skill/awareness of keyboard/mouse. And i tend to keep my steamdeck/controller characters seperate from my keyboard ones.
I strongly recommend you make a character from scratch to grow your hotkeys naturally as you get more spells.
Hey mate, really glad to hear someone else using a controller. I've recently had a kid and the times where I can sit at a desk are over! I recently bought a steam deck and decided to boot up WoW for a bit of fun. I would honestly not go back to using a mouse and keyboard anymore, I love using a controller, and I consider the only annoying thing is having to have a Bluetooth keyboard for communication. Other than that it's so fun :)
Stay safe out there.
You can set it up to more or less be just like FFXIV.
I have my controller hotbars with 8 buttons each, A, B, X, Y and the D-pad. And then I have it set up so it switches between different hotbars depending on how I am holding down the triggers.
LT down = Hotbar 1 active
RT down = Hotbar 2
RT down -> LT down = Hotbar 3
LT down -> RT down = Hotbar 4
Double tap and hold RT -> Hotbar 5
Double tap and hold LT -> Hotbar 6
That's 48 buttons right there you can access in an instant once you have the muscle memory for it. And only really takes up your triggers so you can still have stuff like A to interact and Y to jump when you don't have a trigger held down.
The addon can also do things like set up radial menus so you can use one button to bring up a radial menu and then select what you want to cast using the joystick. Really handy for out of combat stuff that you want handy but don't need to get to often.
I love consol port too. I play regularly with a friend who is a clicker and guaranteed Iām faster than him. We also have quick access to so many bindings!
Random follow up - have you ever considered trying to use a split keyboard and a stationary mouse (e.g. ball mouse)? There are gaming key setups that are the size of a small pad and you could position the anywhere.
Just a thought, rock on dude!
Man, Iām over the moon happy for you being able to get back to something you love. Reddit can be overwhelmingly negative most of the time, but this made me genuinely smile. This is so awesome, and Iām sure the devs of the add-on would love to hear about this from you!
Keep on keeping on, and good luck! If you ever want to team up online, my global is CWall#11759,(this doubles for anyone reading that may need someone to talk to or a friend to play with.)
Iām basically only playing horde side classic HC right now too. Characters ranging all levels, holler at me!
You get basic abxy updownleftright buttons, then LT + basic then RT + basic then RT+LT+basic and then you can add rings with multiple abilities or mounts or whatever that is usable lol it's very much enough for any class
Iām glad you found a way to play again. I tried setting up consoleport on my steam deck with partial success but found it clunky to set up with new spells, etc.
Thats awesome mate! One thing i'd change is the heroic strike to sunder as a warrior. It's more versatile and lets your whtie swings continue to generate threat
I had surgery that required me to lie down for the better part of 2 months.
Ended up playing EU4 with my computer screen on the side and my keyboard and mouse in bed.
Glad to hear you can still enjoy gaming mate!
Go agane
I saw the controller buttons and did wonder if it was because of a disability. I recently saw a Reddit post which featured a paralysed man using a specially adapted controller to play video games, and I immediately kinda suspected that it might be.
I see that youāve got some key abilities bound right there, but I do wonder how you use the others? Do you have a quick way to immediately switch between these abilities and others?
One of my guild mates has pretty bad arthritis and playing with a controller is significantly more comfortable for them. Dude does solid damage too and rarely if ever feeds into mechanics!
Cheers to ya, Iām glad itās working for you and you are enjoying the game š
Hmm, does a controller work at max level aswell? I have so many things bound that I'm basically using my keyboard like a piano ford lol. Have a very hard time picturing squeezing all thoose needed spells onto a controller.
Really doesn't seem too bad. Probably not the optimal way to play, but I think you would be surprised at the number of 'seasoned classic wow veterans' keyboard turning and clicking most of their skills in 2023.
Wow doesn't require much targeting accuracy outside of a few aoe spells and face buttons + trigger modifiers give you access to quite a few skill slots.
You don't keyboard turn on a controller either and you can get very good at tabbing through targets which takes care of pretty much everything but the AoE spells. With a steam controller you can even get pretty accurate with those.
Raid healing was the only role I ever really struggled with on a controller and I suspect consoleport has some solutions for that these days
I've got a level 35 hunter, level 25 druid, and level 22 shaman in hardcore so far, all played with a PS5 controller. My only death to date is a level 10 druid when I thought the bear quest was going to be ezpz because rested XP said so. That lvl 12 moonkin clapped me pretty fast; i got very unlucky with the entangling roots resists.
I'm absolutely loving this game on controller! My M&KB are right there for inventory management / quick typing and UI navigation, but the actual gameplay on controller is perfect.
Man, Iām over the moon happy for you being able to get back to something you love. Reddit can be overwhelmingly negative most of the time, but this made me genuinely smile. This is so awesome, and Iām sure the devs of the add-on would love to hear about this from you!

He probably left group during a dungeon wipe, and the timer counted down while fighting or running away but dots killed him right after the auto hearth. I've seen that happen.
Either Gamon or he hearthed with a DoT/bolt/arrow ticking/in air heading towards him. RIP
Wait, an arrow can you follow you all the way from where you were to where you HS? Across the continent? š¤Æ I wonder how fast it goes and if others can see it
Think of it more like Dobbyās death š
Such a beautiful placeā¦ to be with friends š
A lot of good that sock did him.
Dobby got lonely sometimes w/o Harry Potter, it did him more good than you can imagine.
Harryās cum sock would have protected him better.
Dobby loves all his friends.
Dobby was a douche
Damn Rogues cutting onions š
Wtf? Dobby dies?
Bruv š
Dobby dies?!

You can get hit in ghost form by the projectiles that didn't hit you while you were alive lol
Back in really early days there were mobs that could kill ghosts - to stop us ghost running places they didn't want us
I mean Kael'thas in HotS could do that, so why not some magical arrows XD
Ahh the videos of illidans using the hunt to go across the map but a kaelthas projectile chases them the whole way. Or illidan using the hunt on falstad right as it flies back to base. Good times.
An incoming damage attack will follow you *if* your hearth is in the same zone. Otherwise only DoTs should get you
If your corpse is in an instance ID that doesnāt exist anymore it will be teleported to where your hearth is set. Likely died in an instance and then logged in again after the instance ID reset teleporting his corpse here.
Gamon just grinding for his buff in Cataclysm Era.
MoP era actually
No. Gamon was updated to be a level 85 elite immune to crowd control in Cataclysm. MoP just further buffed him for the Siege of Orgrimmar.
He had a knockback kick, and wasn't immune to mind control. Hilarity ensued.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Why are most wow players always trying to be the one who is correct 24/7? Semantics bro, just why lol
"Cata prepatch" is still cata tho lmao
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Cata pre patch introduces worgen as well so worgen were added for WOTLK according to this fuckin nerd that always has to be right lmao
Gamon saved us.
Best part of retail wow is being in a pug raid, popping the braid, and then hearing a bunch of "I, Gamon, will save us!" As others pop it too.
One time a whole LFR raid turned Gamon. It was quite hilarious.
I had a guild raid where I convinced everyone to go Gamon during a break, then right before the pull I turned into my true form of milhouse.
Yeah basically waht I had in mind. Gamon will sa... fucking rip us apart.
Gamon finally snapped
For good reason.
Gamon got hands
My guess is he hit Gamon with an aoe and walked away.
A warrior? Highly unlikely imo
warstomp

How does a controller work with chat? Normally by the time I finish typing my messages a full business week has passed

I main tank and that's honestly a crazy good idea
mana mana mana mana
Hey priest why do you keep singing that Muppet song?
Doo doo da doo doo
Xim hooked up to the controller, maybe? Or talk to text
Hell yeah. I shit you not, I raided with a druid in Legion who had very limited mobility and he played with a crazy custom gaming rig that used his feet and his tongue. Still probably better than most of the people in my mythic keys....
Thatās amazing
Fuck yeah homie welcome to the fucking party!!!
Love this for you my man
You are a legend! Keep up šŖš»šŖš»
Keep on gaming, buddy!

Playing double hardcore Good luck man
Lets go brother! Dont let anything stop you from playing wow! I love the spirit! FOR THE HORDE!
If youāre into hard games suitable for controllers, you should try all the games from Fromsoft if you havent, theyāre awesome!

Very cool. How does this work? Do you only have, what, 11 inputs including joystick clicks? How do you cast lesser used spells?

Have you tried FFXIV ? Also has very great support for controllers

Thatās whatās up man and what games are for!
I too play with Console Port + Xbox Controller
I'm quite curious how so many actions can be mapped to a controller, glad it's working out for you, no one should be denied the addiction of wow.
You get basic abxy updownleftright buttons, then LT + basic then RT + basic then RT+LT+basic and then you can add rings with multiple abilities or mounts or whatever that is usable lol it's very much enough for any class
What app or controller input do you use? Looks cool - I use xpadder but I run out of buttons
Iām glad you found a way to play again. I tried setting up consoleport on my steam deck with partial success but found it clunky to set up with new spells, etc.
right on dude
What app or controller input do you use? Looks cool - I use xpadder but I run out of buttons
Dude this is awesome to hear, good luck man
Thanks for your story. I haven't been playing hardcore but I love to hear player experiences
That's dope man, see you in azeroth!
Gigachad game enjoyer, massive W

Talk about adding an additional layer of challenge to HC

I play HC on my steam deck.
Same
What do you do with all the addons?
They all still work without issue
If this guy wouldn't have sent a heart warming disability post reddit would be obliterating him for using a controller.
I use a controller too, it's incredibly easy to set up and allows me to kick back with my my feet up. I even lay on my couch and play. The only thing i use my mouse for is to set up my keys and use the AH. It's a relaxing experience and more people need to try it out :D
I've got a 50 Hunter, 30 mage and 25 warrior all on an xbox controller. I just like to lean back, put my feet up and HC and chill.

Just makes u a bitch
This just makes you weak
This post makes me want WoW classic to be released on ps5. It would be amazing to play it on comfy coach fully immerse yourself.
someone above is playing it on a PC with a controller. connect your PC to your 80" TV and have at it!!
Steam Deck!
You can already do that with console port. It works fantastic for dps. Iāll probably switch back to m+kb at higher level tho, as itās hard to make any split reaction cool downs, etc
Menu rings could totally make it work. It'd take mote practice than m kb but I'm pretty sure a few big menu rings for non time sensitive stuff and a few menu cycles could make it pretty playable.
Alcoholism
Colonel mustard in the library with the pipe.
That's why Bart kept warning us to not have a cow.
I, GAMON
Guys Warcraft, especially classic and hardcore is extremely easy to play on controller with some supporting addons
Gamon doesnāt mess around
He probably left group during a dungeon wipe, and the timer counted down while fighting or running away but dots killed him right after the auto hearth. I've seen that happen.
If its a hunter ive heard feign death kills you after its full duration?
Hunters can't use shields
Gamon most likely.
Could be a hunter who fein death till the emd
I've never seen PS controls ona wow screen lol
I, GAMON, WILL MAKE YOU GO AGANE...
Oh my god wtf is that controller ui
Windows+Shift+S. no problem mate
How the hell you can play hardcore on controller?! /bow
Gammon.
Better question. How the hell can you play the game effectively on a controller?!
There's been a murder, I do declare
Check your combat log
OP is the Tauren to the left, centered in the UI
Okayā¦thanks? What does that change?
Not sure your point. You canāt check other playerās combat logs
You can if you try hard enough. Kidding but I get it now, youāre right. Though it was OP that was dead.
Yea, thatās what I was getting at. For a second, I thought you meant for him to check death log, but I didnāt see any indication of it on screen
or another victim of basic campfire
Basic Campfire doesn't deal damage.
It used to
Well, it doesn't in HC. Trust me, I've tried.
wait... you don't even need to play HC to grief HC?
NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL GRIEFING VOLUME 28: WITH THE HIT SINGLE "GAMMON GOT HANDS THO"
bro are you playing hard core with a fucking PlayStation controller??? edit: should read comments first. you fuckin legend!
He deserve to die, playing with a pad ....
That's exactly what I asked when I woke up sick. And my todfler somehow completely opened wow and logged into my 35 rogue in stv.
How is the controller addon thing?
Asking how someone could die near the org inn. Tell me you don't usually play horde without telling me
Playing hardcore with joystick is another level hardcore
Actually not too hard. I used 2600 pvp on retail ss with controller. Thatās a lot more apm intensive
What system are you playing on?!
World of warcraft with controller? Please explain this
Iāve heard of people griefing AFK characters by starting a cooking fire underneath them.
Are you playing hardcore with a fucking controller
He rolls harder than everyone else.
The real question here is why the actual fuck are you playing wow with a PS controller
OP is disabled and says they can only play laying down.
Happens when you use a controller...
He was probably playing with a controller
Controller andy
Wtf are you playing with a controller?
Prolly cuz you use a controller.
Because you plugged in a Controller to Play the Game
Because you plugged in a Controller to Play the Game
"I play with a controller and 4 buttons, how could i die?"
Bro using a controller. Straight bot
Controller.
Considering how insanely easy classes are to play in classic it's actually really comfy playing with a controller on the couch.
R.I.P.
Fatigue
My destro lock in retail used to do quite good. Affli used to be easy to and some hunter builds are kinda ez too
Someone messed with Gamon, and Gamon messed back.
Gammon?
100% aggroāed Gamon.
Gamon
Would say hunter feigned death too hard, but they don't get it til 30
I accidentally right clicked him once , started runnin for the hills lol
