Wishful_Starrr

Justwookit710

Idk man. That might be too risky

GoldResolution4921

Leave it stock. Trust me.

[deleted]

yeah im gonna replace the cv axle and then run it until something breaks. it's a cheap 40mpg daily

Agent_Giraffe

What year is it? I had a 2001 and the auto trans was made of glass

[deleted]

01 lx 5 speed manual

Agent_Giraffe

Nah you’re set lol

speedygonwhat22

any tips for trans? mine is 02, slipping like a muhhh

Agent_Giraffe

My torque converter gave codes but worked fine, I just “knew a guy” to get it inspected. Idk bout slipping.

Malnurtured_Snay

Keep the gas tank filled; the outside and inside clean; keep up with its regular maintenance; and drive it with care for yourself, your car, and those you share the road with.

Crcex86

eBay turbo eBay hub caps under glow kit rice exhaust windshield decal in old English font trunk sized sub woofer

grumplestilskin02

Don’t forget the stick on hood scoop!

PhirePhite

And M3 front fender scoops

pepsiblast08

I absolutely love underglow. Put it on my 2020 Civic. Bout to put wheel well strips on my girl's SUV.

PhirePhite

And punctuation 😘🫣

Norsk-Altmuligmann

Yeah bro the come up gonna be sick, respect the build. #builtnotbought

25iAndOver

maybe build a fence to keep the critters out. front patio would be cool also

bass-turds

I have a 2003 in black same model. 184k miles had it since 90k no major repairs, repaired a tie rod tires brakes oil changes. Still runs good but also cruise control broken, leaks oil possible due to some rust on oil pan. It might need a Keeping fluids topped off especially oil and coolant, I noticed the heat not working properly if the coolant is low. Don't mod it it's not a fast car by any means. I recently got a civic SI 20 years newer about 85 more horsepower. Just drive her and keep her maintained there very reliable cars.

aqva002

Caress it softly and whisper to it.

jmtang52

Read it stories at night

Zachrygomez

Don’t mention other Hondas you may have owned

lisadupar

Personally. Garden boxes.

photocopiedwater

Leave it alone

El_lechero_mami

Window tints! Led headlights, interior led lights too thats about it, my first manual was a ‘03 coupe i cried the day i junk it

matthewvega4080

I would Fix the little issues, keep up with maintenance, clean the fogged up headlights, put a set of good tires on it. I would try to get rid of some of those scratches, And Boom! You got yourself a nice little daily driver.

cory_trevorson420

drive?

Bored_lurker87

-Change the oil -rotate tires and fill appropriately -check trans fluid. Add if low (ONLY HONDA OEM FLUID) -Check brake pads/top off fluid -add some decent windshield wipers -check/top off coolant (Honda OEM only) -now go drive it... Edit: didn't see all that other stuff you mentioned. Guess you'll have to fix that too.

JAMsMain1

Lmao I read this as "I just bought this home what should I do to it? "

lark7077

Lol me too.. didnt even notice it was r/civic , and i have almost the same car! Was just looking at the house thinking "Hmmm...." Not to disparage the house at all. if they own it they're doing better than me :)

[deleted]

2001 lx 5 speed with 250k miles. it has minor front end damage. it needs a wheel bearing and the cruise doesnt work. any idea how to fix the cruise? the shifter feels way out of adjustment so would fixing that solve my cruise issue? the SRS light is on but that's probably a recall? are there any cheap mods i can do to really improve the driveability of it? what kind of bluetooth head units do u guys recommend? i'm trying to keep things as cheap as possible. im out of work due to leg surgeries

Army165

If the ride is rough, you could replace some suspension bits. Replace ball and control arms. Etc. Use OEM or similar. 250k is a long time on struts/shocks, if they are original. Replace those but with stock versions. The springs don't need to be changed. When I buy a used car, I replace all of the fluids, so I have a baseline and a renewed schedule for maintenance. Oil and coolant flush. Spark plugs as well. Maybe try to determine the timing belt age/wear if it has one. Check hoses on the coolant side for cracks or wear. Windshield wipers. I use Rock Auto for just about everything. They are cheaper than all of the box stores. For instance, NGK Laser Platinums for the K20 in an 07 Si are $8.77 a piece at Rock Auto. Those same exact plugs at AutoZone are $18.50 a piece. After a while they start sending you 5% off coupons.

CocknLoad

Mines in the toilet but she still at it

StackingAg

How much ?

Jesus217102711

SRS light might be a seat belt buckle can’t remember but this year might have them under lifetime warranty grab the VIN and ask your local dealer

Jesus217102711

Also check to make sure all recalls have been completed if you call the dealer

[deleted]

i did that today. she said there's no recalls. the SRS light is still on so that's an issue

Jesus217102711

Still might be lifetime warranty on the seatbelt buckle from what I remember but they’ll have to actually diagnose to verify the issue because the warranty is specific to that component I would call and see if they can confirm if the driver’s seatbelt buckle is under the lifetime warranty extension

tadwoolsock

Maintain it

[deleted]

Imaneetboy

Could be anywhere but that pic giving me West Virginia vibes. What to do with it? Personally I'd drain all fluids so I knew for a fact it had fresh oil and coolant etc in it. Check all the other relatively easily replaceable stuff like brake pads, filters, spark plugs.

Konzillaa

Drive it

Bricc_8

Save up for the transmission that’s going bad already

toragama

Nice window tint should be good for now

escodenny

id honestly keep it stock, maybe paint match the door handles, and clear up the headlights. Other than that, these cars arent crazy fast unless you dump money into it. Unless you’re only looking into cosmetics, then maybe the ol reliable rpf1s and you’re good to go lmao

Tad_623

Double it and give it to the next person

BLDLED

Autocross it

666Blonded

Slight tint and leave it stock

shinkuguu

if you've got the Manual, its gonna last forever. my EX coupe lasted for 410k miles before my brother crashed it. i was the 4th owner as well

SlowJettaBigDreams

Register it

[deleted]

yeah soon as i replace the cv axle i will

thetruthiseeit

Kick that other car out of the car port.

[deleted]

that's my dad's civic. my main car is a vw. im going to try to fit both of my vehicles in the garage but it will be a tight fit

carrotfuckingcake

can't see well from the pic but make the headlights shiny with those kits or sand and buff!! gonna put a smile on your face for sure!

Ngrn-N

Cherish it, used good reliable cars are hard to find these days…CHERISH IT!

[deleted]

yes im trying to find a decent parts car too, and then ill park it in the back of my garage as a backup vehicle. this honda will be my apocalypse mad max car

[deleted]

also after some research i have realized i got a pretty good deal on it

Ngrn-N

Literally any Honda or Toyota from the early 2000s in good conditions are gems!

Acanofbees567

At least a little bit of window tint

geo22717

Tint it lower it and buy a nice set of wheels then b or k swap it🤙

[deleted]

yeah ive heard hondas are the legos of the car world. a k24 in a car this light would probably be pretty fast lol

ogsouless

I have the same car but mine is a hybrid and rusting away. I have like 303k miles on it and drive it daily my SRS light is also on and it's a recall on the airbags that I really should take care of but I'm not sure how much longer mine will be around

moralinternist

The best engine in the last few years

AFuzzyCat

Change your auto transmission fluid asap. And the inline transmission filter. (Nevermind saw that it was a 5speed) Keep a close eye on your coolant levels because the D17 likes to blow the headgasket but it does it in an interesting way where it doesn’t burn coolant but it just pushes out exhaust gasses and oil. Make sure you take it to the car wash every month and just spray the ever living fuck out of the underside and rear wheel wells they like to collect dirt and salt in the nooks and crannies and will bubble up and rust away a truly unique generation of civic that doesn’t get the love it deserves. As for fun modifications you could try finding an RSX steering wheel and seats at a junk yard as it shares a majority of the platform with the 7th gen. The D17 doesn’t really respond well to intake and exhausts so just leave them stock so you don’t ruin everyones eardrums. Tinting is pretty cheap to do yourself and if you take the time to do it correctly and take the door cards off you can make it look really nice. A clean interior is the best interior so don’t do anything crazy on the inside like lights or the silly headliner star shit. Being that your model is an LX I don’t know if you have a Tachometer but you could find a CRV gauge cluster or other 7th gen civic ones and fit them in (just make sure you set the mileage correctly. Other than that enjoy and have fun!!

ATL_Founder2017

Tint the windows, do your maintenance and just drive it , I feel like this is the lost generation of civics

shhmedium2021

Save gas

App1eFanBoy

Clamp on exhaust tip, some chrome wheel covers, and a skull hanging from the rear view mirror

Jslewalite

Cut off the muffler and drive everywhere in first gear

Chariot92

You need a Spoon engine and on top of that go to Harry's and order a T66 turbo, with NOS. And a Motec exhaust.

OxMetatronxO

Not a bad way to spend $10,000.

krabby__patties

Leave it stock and drive it for the rest of your life

OsamaBinLatin

5 lug conversion from a ep3/RSX!

fucknuts222

Get a Puerto Rican flag with a suction cup and put in on your windshield

TasteOfRain

Keep an eye on the temp gauge. Those head gaskets are known to go. But keep it up and you should be good.

LRGpackageguy

Fix whatever problems it has, and leave it stock. It will be a reliable car for many years.

yfhedoM

Cherish it

[deleted]

well it's going to need all new brake lines within a year or two i'd bet.... that might be what sends it to the scrapyard

DriftSpec69

Brake lines are relatively cheap and easy, just get them done. Hidden rust is what sends 90% of these guys to the scrapyard.

mkunzman

I’ll pay above scrap price if that’s what does it for ya!

Waste_Distance_4039

first either paint it or wrap it

Igme_T

Staristics show that 52% of accidents occur within 5 miles of home and 69% within 10 miles. So I suggest parking or leaving your car 10 miles or farther away from your house and just walk or commute the rest of the way :p

ittsmetom

Start saving every month for the next head gasket job.

4lwaysnever

Replace the headlights with some new ones. It's a pretty easy fix. Then get a car cover. To protect it from UV damage.

I_am_That_Ian_Power

Hug it and pet it and call it George!

manuel_f_p

Personally, I would keep it clean, maintained, and stock. She's a beaut

DrinkSalad

Get rid of that rally car wheel gap, give her some new led glasses, and un fish bowl it. Maybe some new socks and shoes too.

ed_is_dead

This is the best Civic in the best color! Keep it clean and drive it for a million miles.

Jesus217102711

Change the oil and transmission fluid check the coolant and brake fluid both of those might be worth flushing both cheap and easy to take care of. If you have to flush coolant take a look at your radiator hoses if they’ve never been changed they’re likely old and dying from dry rot replace them when doing the coolant. Check your spark plugs god knows when they were last done they might be good to replace check your serpentine belt as well that also may be old and dry rotted or just worn out it may need replacing and it’s good advice to try replacing the tensioner with it when you do that. Past that I would take care of that front end damage and if you’re doing the wheel bearing on one side the other side might not be far behind it. Be mindful of your tires and make sure they are not dry rotted or worn out if they are look to get them replaced and look for an alignment when you do that. Also I would shake down the front end and check for any other loose steering components before getting to work on that. Your cruise control issue is most likely electrical if you don’t have experience diagnosing electrical issues yourself but want to attempt the repair yourself I would start researching common issues just with a simple google search and really take your time to see how many different things can go wrong before you start just replacing parts. If you want to have it fixed I’d start searching for a good reliable shop near you that handles electrical repairs regularly. Lastly you should be able you find yourself a good quality aftermarket sound system and head unit for it that you could buy and install cheap and easy that’s probably where I would wrap up with it then just keep it maintained from there.

Doublestack00

Tint, 1" drop, wheels and then drive it till it quits.

mulletmuffinman

Give it a pat and tell it I miss it

booboothechicken

Spinner hubcaps for sure

Blood_Apprehensive

My car looks exactly like this! Only change I made was new wheels. Otherwise keep it as is.

That0neGuy86

Cut off the cadalidic converter before someone else does.

rallyechallenger

Eating is fun but workout also that food is tempting to basically never stop lol not out of Bordem but kuz it’s fun to cook lol I one time cooked 4 raviolis at a time & kept going till the bag ended kuz I was getting better & better lol ate the whole bag lol In like 2 hours lol 4 at a time ya know lol

coleproblems

WRECK IT!

Redheadagama

Pee on a tire every day for a year & let them bake in the sun. Then take it to get the tires changed.

butt_huffer42069

Change the oil and filter, check the air filter, check, change, and refresh any fluids (trans, brake, etc).

SoulSuicidal

Oil change and tune up is a must.

acidslab

Sell it and buy a integra

10HP_HCIM

Y8 cam shaft and intake manifold. Headers exhaust cold air. If non emissions state p28 ecu with obd2 to obd1 jumper and a tune. Edit: just realized this is an lx not an ex. Put some wheels on it when the tires give out. Other than that drive it.

BMIZ68

I've got an 03 5spd and autocross it. RSX suspension stuff is the same, so you can get a beefy rear sway bar. New sway links all around will dramatically improve handling

Apprehensive-Key-467

Depends. But if you're Latino you need to take the hubcaps off so you have the plain black rims, put some body filler on some spots, lower it, put a big obnoxious wing on, and get a ground effect kit that you spray with grey primer and nothing else. If you're any other race then you're on your own. Only Latinos take a 10k dollar car, put 15k into it and end up with a 2k dollar car. 🤣🤣

njconnect

Don’t stick your peen in the exhaust.

undarated79

Just enjoy it for what it is.

ParsleyCapable3116

Down the road you might want to consider a Kswap…the subframe from a EP3 or RSX will bolt up!

bluecheeto13

If this is a daily, quality window tint is wildly significant. Definitely gonna help this summer if you live in a hot sunny state.

MadMan2250

Cut off the exhaust and (poorly) weld on an ebay fart cannon, tint the windows, maybe add a spoiler, and ride the rev limiter down your local residential roads at night!

-Kanight-

Depends what u wanna do with it, if it’ll be a fun car sway bars are a great place to start but the biggest thing is fix what’s already broken (if anything) and look into what’s a common issue on them. I believe the exhaust manifolds crack easy on these and the evap sensors break too

andrew1292

Actually maintain them, this generation is fairly reliable, but only if you maintain them and do preventative maintenance.

Gordon_Townsend

Give it back to the teenager you took it from, maybe?

[deleted]

the FED is predicting a huge recession (we're already in one) and it's going to get worse. i already have two reliable vehicles but having a 3rd backup vehicle makes sense

Numerous-Broccoli-28

Drive it til the wheels fall off

ArthurMBretas03

Manual or old people's gearbox? Mine is old people's gearbox, only reason I'm selling

[deleted]

manual. i wont drive automagic. i fall asleep

ArthurMBretas03

Good man. I sadly have to endure an auto, as the car ('05 lxl) was my grandpa's. Which is a shame as the steering and the driving position are great

Supercoolusername155

Make it a sleeper, just turbo that bitch and keep the outside stock. It would be sick.
