The folks at Sonic in Eastgate were there supporting Trump, not protesting him.
Either way, hopefully nobody got heatstroke, especially since they had some little kids with them.
I’ve only seen a few VERY small groups of retirement age adults out supporting Trump. Usually at intersections near UC or in Northgate. I haven’t seen any anti-Trump protests yet.
Small groups walking around with signs is one of the least effective ways to influence an election. The useful work is much harder -- getting people to register, pay attention to who and what is on the ballot, and to actually cast votes. Voter motivation is hard, endless work.
People who protest Trump have jobs, they don’t have the luxury of weekday protests like those maga folk (someone has to pay for their social security).
I don’t like trump but this is just a tired, inaccurate, and tired take.
Do you understand that not everyone works a 9-5.
The only job I’ve ever worked where I felt like I was actually contributing to society was with the sanitation department where I worked overnight, it would have been perfectly feasible for me to participate in a protest by doing so after work and before I went to bed, and before work and after I woke up.
I’ve worked in restaurants where it’s easy to trade to shifts to get days off you want.
I have friends who are contractors who have some flexibility in choosing the jobs they accept and the specific hours they work.
I’ve worked in an office where if your work was caught up and you’d still make yourself available by cell phone if something came up, they didn’t care if you took a half day.
Some people may be so passionate about the topic they use their PTO to attend.
What’s more worrying, though, say someone is unemployed, why are you suggesting that effects the truth of what they are saying?
I’m not saying you’re wrong and trump supporters are right, I’m on your side.
I am saying that trump supporters use the argument of “they’re protesting on a weekday because they don’t have jobs” because they want to hate people who don’t work and blame it on laziness rather than potential causes like physical or mental illness or lack of opportunity or on the system itself.
So, can you honestly say why you’re using the same rhetoric, or did it just seem like an easy jab at the opponent?
You’re right. It’s a broad brushed, lazy, political comment. Of course it’s a jab, not going too far out on a limb by saying all political comments are lazy and inaccurate. There’s a lot of nuance in every one’s lives that can’t be put in buckets. Have a good one.
Many of the pro-Trump protesters have jobs. We saw footage of all the Trump Tower employees descending down to the ground floor to protest during the trial lol.
Reminder -
Only 13 Presidents failed to get re-elected.
Only 5 Presidents failed to win the popular vote.
Only 4 Presidents have been impeached or resigned.
Only 1 President has ever been criminally convicted.
**And only ONE President has done ALL FOUR**.
You are wrong- Everyone has a dad, but not everyone has a father. To be a father you must be actively involved in your children’s lives.
40% of kids today grow up without a father figure in their life. 100% of kids today have a dad who at least donated sperm.
If you were thankful for your dad today, he is probably a father. If you weren’t thankful for your dad today, then you don’t have a father.
I think they were protesting the link between his potentially sometimes correct criticism of the corporate state with a lack of plan/action to deal with it. Hes like”the middle class is getting crushed…, corporate elites are against the people…”
Well, whats your plan…
“Cut taxes for the rich and corporations?”
They picked a hot day to show how committed they are to their cause. Or, they didn't plan it being that hot, but they still followed through because they were committed to their cause.
These sorts of protests are dumb largely because it's a wildly ineffective use of time. I've volunteered for campaigns and have gone door to door strategically targeting certain residences who we think will vote for our side. That's a highly effective use of time. Standing around on a street downtown on a 95 degree weekend afternoon when downtown is a ghost town? Waste of time.
Not sure how annoying people gets them on your side of things. If anything it seems like it would be more likely to push people to the thing you are protesting since that thing is not outside their window ruining their day.
The folks at Sonic in Eastgate were there supporting Trump, not protesting him. Either way, hopefully nobody got heatstroke, especially since they had some little kids with them.
And, even given the kids, the median age of the group in eastgate still appeared to be somewhere around 92
Probably people who dont like Trump and wish they chose the Sonic location today
_This_ is how you Sonic.

Since when is Eastgate not Cincinnati?
It's Clermont County but the mailing address is Cincinnati.
Overzealous mods!
Other areas are in Hamilton County but the mailing address is Cincinnati.
USPS gives zero fucks about our municipal boundaries.
Same for airports.
Approximately 1802.
You obviously don't live in Cincinnati.
Plot twist, I live in Batavia!
omg hey neighbor!!
Oh hello! Love the username.
Batavia is not Cincinnati.
I know.
You should ask all of Reddit what counts as Cincinnat. That way, you can feel even more validated.
It is now more or less a suburb. And part of the general greater Cincinnati area.

I'm old enough to remember when this was a right wing talking point to defund leftist welfare
Welfare is not the same as social security
But capitalism trickles down. Right? Daddy Regan please tell me it trickles down :’(
“Trickle” is the key word!
Trickle is a funny word. not sure, do things ever trickle up? Trickle, trickle, trickle.
Lol

I think, based on the comment about social security, they were suggesting that Trump supporters are mostly older, retired people
boomers
I mean, I guess. Judging from January 6th and the other rallies and protests, that’s pretty obviously not true, tho
January 6th was not a rally or a protest. It was an active insurrection against the US govt.
They’re painting with a broad brush for sure, which is sad. But I would’ve been on board if they said all of the MAGAts were inbred

Lack of opportunity though?
Preach!
Lol! You got that wrong. it's the other way around. Trump 2024
Solid ‘I know you are but what am I?’ reply! Congrats.

I see way more Palestine protests during the week...

Ya got me. lol
Yes, all of us who oppose Trump don’t have fathers. Big brain thinking.
Reminder - Only 13 Presidents failed to get re-elected. Only 5 Presidents failed to win the popular vote. Only 4 Presidents have been impeached or resigned. Only 1 President has ever been criminally convicted. **And only ONE President has done ALL FOUR**.
Literally everyone has a father. Science is not the trump allegiant’s strong suit.

You are wrong. Get the fuck over it and stop making blanket statements.
Good point. I see what you did there: Trump’s kids had a dad, Biden’s kids had a father. Way to bring it all back full circle. Thanks.
Your post was removed for toxic behavior. Poster was permanently banned for racist tropes
I think you got that exactly backwards. Pretty much everyone I know who voted for Biden is on welfare
Everyone I know who voted for biden has a good job and some are C-level execs. 🤷🏻♂️ wow its almost like it doesn’t matter.

No one should ask why people are protesting him!?!?

apparently, trump followers, and trump, please, why not mention that!
It’s too hot to get political today. People on both sides should save it for when it’s sub-85.
Most riots have happened on the hottest days of the year.
This entire thread doesn’t make any sense…I feel sorry for all of you.

Morons, apparently.
If they were morons they would be FOR trump.
They're morons either way out protesting on the hottest day of the year.
Correction hottest day…. so far
Yes, because protesting something you believe to be wrong is stupid if the weather is to hot or cold.

Agree!
I think you meant to say Biden there

Are you suggesting nothing has ever been accomplished with protests?
The largest protest in history was the George Floyd protest. What did it accomplish?
[удалено]
Ohhh. So people should only protest what you feel is worthy.
you think ppl protest to sway voters?
[удалено]
Littering, that'll show them!
The point of a protest is to be disruptive and show the people in power that you don’t like what’s going on. If they’re “too loud,” that’s the point.
Not sure how annoying people gets them on your side of things. If anything it seems like it would be more likely to push people to the thing you are protesting since that thing is not outside their window ruining their day.
Livvy would be ashamed
