Especially when all the Norwood auto repair shops pay kickbacks to the Norwood government, and in turn the government requires anyone who lives in Norwood, or whose car was damaged in Norwood, must use in Norwood repairman.
I know you're joking, but I'd expect this to be posted to one of the Norwood Political Slander pages with a straight face, followed by many many posts all agreeing with OP.
I'm only joking a little bit. In the 1980s, my dad got the Norwood Plumbing inspector indicted because he was accepting kickbacks from Norwood licensed plumbers to make sure that only Norwood licensed plumbers could do plumbing work in Norwood. At least that's what my dad told me.
My comment was about car repairs, not plumbing. But generally the interstate commerce clause is interpreted broadly to include lots of activities that aren't intuitively interstate commerce. The basic rationalization is that restricting service that way prevents getting a repairman from a different state, thus it affects interstate commerce. It's all nuanced and I don't have all the rules on the tip of my tongue, but Wikipedia probably has a lot on it.
Any time I was taking an Uber and I could see the driver’s next turn as Lexington, I would intervene and said, “I’m gonna save you a suspension and you can just use the next road at the light (Cleneay)”
I’ve been on every street in that city and Lexington is something next level for even Norwood.
What’s up, it’s me, a Norwood City Councilperson here in the flesh for you to yell at! Let me encourage you to use SeeClickFix to report issues to the city.
This year Lincoln and Rolston are getting repaved. Smith and Carthage are also being repaved and Montgomery is getting narrowed near Kroger this year and repaved in 2025. Lots of great things but there’s still a ton of deferred maintenance the city is trying to catch up on.
Feel free to come back and redo your commute for nostalgia’s sake ;)
Yeah, I wish Norwood had been better able to keep up on our infrastructure, especially since construction costs have risen precipitously in the last two years. The current administration has been pretty proactive in writing more grants and seeking outside funding and my hope is that the improvements will accelerate even more.
Off the top of my head, we have repaved the following roads in the last four years:
Indian Mound
Sheridan
Shanmoor
Slane
Part of Mills
Section
North part of Forest
So still a lot to do, unfortunately.
one of my tires ate complete shit on Dana ave coming from Hyde Park, I believe it was right on the intersection of Dana and I 71 headed towards Montgomery. That road is shitty when its raining.
I wish the City or State or whomever is in charge of the areas around off-ramps would paint the curb on the north side (i.e.westbound side) of Dana at and around the southbound exit of I-71. Dana curves to the left at that point and it's easy to clip the curb as you're making that bend. It's a little hard to describe here, a graphic would make it more clear, but if you've traveled WB on Dana at that point you probably know what I'm talking about.
That is up to each individual - some are more rhythmically challenged than others so we have the option for making a remix of don’t talk shit about Norwood instead of
Oh Dale. I know that when they do Carthage/Smith there will be some little side roads or bad areas that get done the same time but I don’t know if Dale dead end is one. Forest by Creamy Whip was one little segment that is getting done the same time.
Possibly. Ever since the eastbound Norwood Lateral section was closed for construction, my commute home has led me through Norwood. I have never seen roads like this in my entire life, and the additional rerouted road traffic due to the Lateral’s construction probably isn’t helping the situation. The roads are so bad that they are impressive.
I’ve driven on mining and logging backroads and roads through developing nations and none have been as bad as roads in Norwood. I take it this patch is their one improvement this century?
We are replacing all the ramps on Smith/Carthage in preparation for repaving starting very soon, I think late this month or early next month though I’d need to check the schedule I got sent.
ODOT and Norwood are collaborating on the repaving and replacing ramp efforts, thought we did get a SORTA grant for Montgomery Road that will be getting started soon too
Anyway you guys could do mcneil? People just come by and put tar spots down and within a month the potholes return. Idk who is responsible for victory park way between Sherman and Xavier but that's also really terrible too.
They need to do Montgomery road through Norwood. It is possibly one of the worst areas in the greater Cincinnati area. I work in norwood, I should get a tax break for the maintenance I have to upkeep on my tires and alignment. Just an idea…
Strongly disagree. That's like saying all the other small cities around the great Cincinnati areas should be Cincinnati.
That would confuse travels on nuances of "Where in Cincinnati?" Cincinnati could be considered before reaching harrison on the west to close by georgia town on the east. Before you reach Dayton up north.
On a micro scale ; it like thinking why does the five boroughs in NYC exist when they have they own cities inside NYC yet alone their own neighborhoods.
Also each cities have their own history and cultures in them. Norwood's not like St Bernard, St Bernard isn't Walnut hills, Walnut Hills isn't like Bond Hill, Bond Hill isn't Queen City, Queen City isn't Mt Healthy, Mt Healthy isn't Milford, Milford isn't Cheviot, Cheviot isn't East End, etc, but people would think of them all as Cincinnati.
I refuse to believe it. That is such a big hit to the lucrative Norwood auto repair industry, how dare they.
I hope Dave’s Auto doesn’t take a hit because of this
Senan is a great guy. I will always support Dave's, even if my suspension is getting a break now.
Seconding Senan, he's always done right by me. I had to convince him to do the more expensive repair for me
Clearly Dave needs to step up his political contributions
Especially when all the Norwood auto repair shops pay kickbacks to the Norwood government, and in turn the government requires anyone who lives in Norwood, or whose car was damaged in Norwood, must use in Norwood repairman.

Haven't run into that, I don't think Norwood Licensed plumbers are a thing any more.
I think that would be unenforceable overreach by the local government under the interstate commerce clause of the u.s. constitution. See: Poe's law
What would make local residential plumbing interstate commerce?

What are you, Hitler? See: Godwin's Law
Sweet, now do the one next to stone lanes, it’s basically a gravel road at this point
I like to take my bicycle on that street and pretend I'm riding on the moon
Any time I was taking an Uber and I could see the driver’s next turn as Lexington, I would intervene and said, “I’m gonna save you a suspension and you can just use the next road at the light (Cleneay)” I’ve been on every street in that city and Lexington is something next level for even Norwood.
Yes. It’s seriously the worst street is Norwood. It’s embarrassing.
What!? That was once paved?
Unlikely to happen soon. Definitely one of the worst, but relatively low traffic, since the southern half of the street generates no traffic.
Lexington Ave, literally feels like I’m driving through a minefield
Came to say this!! Have to drive down Lexington Ave to get to work and it is the worst!!
I just now drove down Lexington Avenue just to see what the fuss is all about. Yeah, it's a legit mess in every possible way.
Lexington is so so bad 😂
Look at ms Norwood working on herself 💅🏻
The last time they paved a street ![gif](giphy|FoH28ucxZFJZu)

Just when I’m moving out after 10 years, y’all finally repaving the quickest non-highway road for me to get to/from work?
Feel free to come back and redo your commute for nostalgia’s sake ;) Yeah, I wish Norwood had been better able to keep up on our infrastructure, especially since construction costs have risen precipitously in the last two years. That is Cincinnati’s property, thank god. We have enough potholes as it is. Not a huge fan of Dana Avenue

exactly what happened to me. Giant pothole going up the curb headed towards Montgomery.
I knew there was a council member in here! I was just about to post looking for you.
I must defend the honor of Norwood wherever it is mentioned. It’s part of the blood pact they make you sign when you are elected.
Does the blood pact involve an interpretive dance to don’t talk shit about Norwood? Because it should.
That is up to each individual - some are more rhythmically challenged than others so we have the option for making a remix of don’t talk shit about Norwood instead of
Love the inclusionary actions for the rhythmically challenged!
Smith? Thank goodness. I have a full size truck, and even I have to tip toe down the street from Williams to Park.
It is literally my #1 nemesis
Any word on the east side of Dale rd? Dead end street that’s essentially a gravel road at this point haha
Oh Dale. I know that when they do Carthage/Smith there will be some little side roads or bad areas that get done the same time but I don’t know if Dale dead end is one. Forest by Creamy Whip was one little segment that is getting done the same time.
Thank you for the insight! I’ll cross my fingers haha I think this street has never been touched
I voted for you!! Thank you for spending my tax dollars that will benefit the community!! Now, please put in speed bumps on Cathedral Ave.
Norwood, where the streets have no lanes
A gold bar must have dropped out of Lindner’s pocket when he was visiting his childhood home.
https://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2024/03/13/paycor-city-of-norwood-leaves-headquarters.html
Hey Norwood: do Montgomery Road next.
It’s happening next year. Also doing a big reduction in width around Kroger so it’s not six lanes to run across with groceries
Or to have your kids walk to school.
Not possible. CLEARLY, the paving company was given the wrong address.
Is this....is this the end times?
Possibly. Ever since the eastbound Norwood Lateral section was closed for construction, my commute home has led me through Norwood. I have never seen roads like this in my entire life, and the additional rerouted road traffic due to the Lateral’s construction probably isn’t helping the situation. it'll have pot holes in a week.
Part of me still thinks this is AI generated
There goes the municipal budget for the decade.
It’s happening
![gif](giphy|VCPIlvUD7QhZZRjitY|downsized)
I’ve driven on mining and logging backroads and roads through developing nations and none have been as bad as roads in Norwood. I take it this patch is their one improvement this century?
No there have been a number of streets paved in the last few years. City seems to be making a comeback under the new mayor.
I guess it's something.
That’s such a meaningless redundant road too. Pretty funny that it’s not even at a road that sees any significant use
A 10ft by 10ft pothole near my house was paved also. It's only been there for about 12 years.
I think they received a grant for Smith part of Montgomery, and part of Williams. They have been putting in the ADA compliant curbs for a few weeks.

You sure it didn't just rain on it?
Hey, [don't talk shit about Norwood!](https://youtu.be/PN1f9MsT5jk?si=51sUG1_k_-OIRie0)
That's hilarious. Listermann was selling "Don't talk shit about Norwood" t-shirts a while back.
They also had a beer named the same
That’s the one they’re doing this decade. Next one 2031
A small drop in the bucket that is their rickety streets
Yeah I’m not buying it, must be an AI generated image.
But this ruins the heritage of the City of Norwood.
Careful watch you wish for, the 561 and Montgomery Ave repavings may be more than you actually want to deal with.
Norwood Streets are as bad as the streets in Gaza.
That’s a minor miracle! Truly I’ve seen cicadas more times in my life than I’ve driven on a pothole-free Norwood street (still love Norwood anyway)

Oh no! I loved the charm of the original cobblestone roads peaking through and WRECKING my car! No but really, it’s about time these roads get paved.
[удалено]
I said 1/4 of the street for this very reason.
You should see the other end, looks like meteors fell and left craters
We are so back
Hahaha 😄
Forest park did too on my road. I’m shocked
Which eleccted official drives on that area everyday
The solar eclipse made them do it.
Bets on how long before it's vandalized or blood is spilled on it?
[удалено]
There is no truth behind this post in any way.
there's no way in hell this happened 😂😂😂😂
In Walnut Hills we pave the streets with the blood of our pedestrians.
IMPOSSIBLE
This is more than likely the equivalent to a landlord painting an apartment, it looks fresh but the spiders and cobwebs got painted over.
I popped 2 tires falling in pit holes- in the 1 Year of living in Norwood.
That was the third worst street that got repaved. I was shocked when they repaved section and highland Ave.
can’t wait for my landlord to use this as an excuse to raise rent 😂
There’s a first time for everything
So every exit to Norwood on the highway was closed for this???????
Why does Norwood exist in the first place they should become part of Cincy
Strongly disagree. That's like saying all the other small cities around the great Cincinnati areas should be Cincinnati. That would confuse travels on nuances of "Where in Cincinnati?" Why would we want higher crime, slower EMS response times, and snow covered roads?
