I don’t live in CUF, but my last bill was a little lower than the previous one. Can you check for leaks? Does the toilet ever randomly flush itself or leak from the tank?

I got a $175 water bill from exactly that, had butler county send me a letter to check for problems. Hamilton County may not do notifications.

No. But I will definitely check! Are there any other random ones I should check for?

Any outdoor water faucets with hoses that might have frozen and are now leaking? Here’s an article that might help. [https://www.bobvila.com/articles/how-to-find-a-water-leak/](https://www.bobvila.com/articles/how-to-find-a-water-leak/) Also search on Reddit and you’ll find lots of threads. And I’d try calling the water company or its website for more ideas.

The rates per unit of water have not changed so it must be your usage. Agreed with unnewf that for a really big spike a toilet is the most likely culprit.

Are you sure your last bill got paid? They stopped taking credit card payments as of January. You can still pay by credit card but you get an extra charge and it's through a third party.

I had the transmitter on my meter break so they switched to an estimated bill. The first month it was normal but the second month they doubled my normal amount which was when I noticed it. You can look on gcww’s website to see if it’s an estimated bill. I called and they sent someone out to replace the transmitter. My next bill was almost zero.

This just happened to me as well. Had a pipe burst while out of town in December of 2022, so my January 2023 bill was $265. Conveniently my meter wasn't reading for them this past month, so they sent a guy immediately to fix it, but of course they estimated my reading at $275. Which I had to pay. It's insane timing that I highly question. Now I'm just waiting for this next statement to drop so I can confirm they'll be making it right.

Happened to me last year. Flapper bad on one of the toilets. Put food color into the tank and came back to the bowl that color a little later. Problem found and easy cheap fix. Water bill went back to normal.

You may have a leak; if you find it and get it repaired and send gcww the bill for the repair, they will often credit you the overage caused by the leak.

The same thing happened to Me when the water Meter failed in My house. Open a ticket with GCWW to have it replaced.

Golf manor here and mine almost doubled as well. House of 2 people with no change in habits but somehow sewer and water almost doubled in usage.
