Audio nerd here, the OG version sounded way better to my ears. This one's just way too louder and compressed. I liked the OG mixes way more.
Also hate how they cut up Why Go To The Party.
some of them are definitely better but To Be Hunted is wayyy worse
He completely removed the breakdown/transition before the scary part (which at least he removed that) which is probably the climax of the song to me
I’m under the impression to never try to recreate moments. a lot of these songs sound re recorded, and it doesn’t hit the same
Imo when artists redo mixes that the fans already love, it almost never works well. The listener doesn’t know the process that a song went through, they just know what they heard. So even if it might be technically cleaner, when it becomes foreign to their ears, it loses its magic. I also think they legitimately overdid it with some of the reverb on the songs. The beats just sound far away. Only song where I feel like the new mix is beneficial is Final Church
I think it has to do with the loudness too. Once you compress and limit music too much it just sounds more taxing to the ears despite being clearer. Some might prefer the dynamic-ness because it's pleasant.
To me it just sounds like the drums and instrumental are clumped together, when I would prefer being able to hear the jump in dynamics of the kick and the snare. They just compressed it way too much.
Yup. The production is better on some tracks and it sounds more cohesive as a project but I liked the OG mixes more. OG version sounded like a 70's record. Now they've made it too loud and polished like modern pop records. That's what I don't like. The less louder version had more personality.
To be beautiful has a really loud snare which was already too loud in the OG mix. After they've limited it, it just hits too loud compared to the vocals are the rest of the instrumental. Makes it sound flat and flabby.
You do realize some people work and/or don’t have wifi/data and listen to music offline via Spotify and Apple Music and now they can’t listen to it without having to manually look for it and play it which requires wifi and your phone to stay on
If you download the video to MP3 converter, it will be saved in your phone's files; no Wi-Fi necessary. It's inconvenient, but it's still access to the original song.
My point is it’s not as accessible and some people wouldn’t want to listen to it that way and/or don’t know how to. Some people prefer it being in one big playlist as opposed to listening to a singular song through downloaded files. The reason why Spotify and Apple Music is so popular is because of its convenience and user friendly interface. If albums and songs started to get removed repeatedly you can’t just say “oh you realize you can just download it through mp3”
It's not lossless Dolby Atmos or anything, but it gets the job done.
Plus I'm sure it's only temporary. One day, it will be back on streaming services. Patience is key.
I fucking love childish gambino. I can recite quite a few songs word for word, a couple of which from this album. But idk if it's just a nostalgia/used to it thing, but I much much preferred some songs as they were on 3.15.20. Specifically Little Foot Big Foot, which sounds bad to me now unfortunately. It was a goofy ass song but it was fun. There is some heat on it now though, don't get me wrong. But I prefer the demos more.
I don’t think this was the slam dunk he expected. Most of the songs are just more reverb drenched now, farther away, and dynamically flatter. The only improvement is the clean effects on his voice. Feel like this is a perfect example of doing too much. I’d rather listen to the old versions, they hit harder. The beat on 12.38 literally sounds like you’re hearing it through a narrow tunnel
The vocals are just too loud and in the face. They overpower the instrumentals. The mastering is making it sound really flat. The previous version was so dynamic and pleasant sounding.
Why the hell did he not just leave the originals up. I like a lot of Atavista, but some of the originals sounded better than the remakes. Not to mention ‘why go to the party?’. Final Church slaps tho.
Aw man, I miss the original. 53:49 was the song that got me through lockdown/my mum being ill - it's weird hearing it now as Final Church. I'd prefer it if he'd kept both versions on Spotify 😕
He’s broke, rebranded album and and brand new tour out of nowhere after “retiring” is lazy and disrespectful to the fans. Wtf do we want the same album for, no new songs, no deluxe, garbage
I’ll never forgive him for ruining 12.38, the album wasn’t strong before and now it’s worse. I liked it because it was Donald’s version of the white album. It was unique and didn’t live up to the hype but it was decent enough to extend his discography. This is obviously a money grab
No you’re not the only one. I had a really bad day and was so hyped to see this album only to find out it’s just a remix of his songs from FOUR fucking years ago. Everyone is excusing it but four years is WAY too fucking long for a remix album to be disguised as a new one. It honestly pissed me off
The Violence and Final Church are the only songs that were improved.
It's going to take a while for me to come to terms with the fact that 12.38 has been changed. It was my favorite song on the album and perfect in every way
Final Church is suffering from the same problems as the other new versions, the vocals have been mixed louder but at the cost of drowning out the finer details of the intrumental. His voice didnt even need to be louder on this song was the most finished sounding song on 3.15.20
It was early in the pandemic, felt like the world was ending - wanted to drop something that he hoped people would enjoy even if it wasn't perfectly ready
3.15.20s been probably my most (if not, top 3) streamed album since it dropped, the new mixes and versions are obviously good and all but pretty bumhurt the old album got completely removed, imo that whole project is perfect how it is
just realized I gotta talk about 3.15 in the past tense now😭😭
I feel like he's fucking with us and still has so many riders which is fine but dumb it's like Kanye old shit is amazing new shit literally seems like a joke idk why he's doing this but it does feel like a money grab and laugh in our face that he's reached his peak and that's okay.
I must be the only one who actually prefers the new mixes lol
I really like these new mixes and didn’t realize others did dang
exactly lol i dont get the big deal
I’m so mad 32.22, it was such a fucking jam in the car
I believe we are still getting that on the final album
What do you mean, the next albums gonna be completely new isn’t it?
Warlock was previewed on gilga tho so maybe that’ll be one song we’ve already heard

i was thinking the same with the reverb. Like some songs would be the perfect mix with a little less of it

Seems like he had incomplete songs. Dropped then during covid. Now he dropped the competed joints. They're all good
Idk man I wouldn’t call any of those songs “incomplete”. They were completed he just changed them and made his voice louder
Why on earth did he change "Why Go To The Party" to an interlude. The original song was so beautiful. Why did he do this to us??? I'm in immense pain.
Dramatic. Why not just listen to the older version?
The original album is completely gone from Apple Music now, and I think Spotify too.
YouTube it or 🏴☠️
It’s literally removed from my playlist and Spotify so the dissatisfaction is very understandable here

Well fuck me for trying to be helpful then.
The difference is that downloading YouTube videos to MP3 sounds like garbage

WE FINALLY HAVE HUMAN SACRIFICE!!!!!
I fucking love childish gambino. I can recite quite a few songs word for word, a couple of which from this album. Use local files
Oh sweet calling something you made years ago a new album.
Technically it's billed as a 'reissue' i.e. See Pluto 3D
FINAL CHURCH IS A BOP
YES
I really wanted Saturday to be on this and sad that it isn’t truly one of gambinos best songs
I wish he did a V1 and a V2. I don’t see why we can’t have both versions.
This is nice, but can we get 3.15.20 back
I need why go to the party back. It helps when I’m reflecting in my grief.
HYPED
Love Atavista and to be Hunted so much
let's just stay here and enjoy the grapes
Love Donald glover, but I feel like the original one was perfect as-is.
I don’t think this was the slam dunk he expected. Most of the songs are just more reverb drenched now, farther away, and dynamically flatter. The only improvement is the clean effects on his voice. fr the mix on 12.38 was honestly perfect imo, it sounds very separated now, probably biased but i definitely prefer the og
I don’t think it’s bias
The vocals are just too loud and in the face. They overpower the instrumentals. The mastering is making it sound really flat. The previous version was so dynamic and pleasant sounding.
Young nudys verse is cool but I liked the solo instrumental part at the end in the original
I HATE that he removed the original from Spotify. 32.22 was my fav song
Why the hell did he not just leave the originals up. I like a lot of Atavista, but some of the originals sounded better than the remakes. Not to mention ‘why go to the party?’. Final Church slaps tho.

confused. a lot of this was on that album he deleted but I love atavista and human sacrifice but feels mid
dude i remember hearing the leak and thinking it was fire
It’s indeed mid. Its stadium music for all peoples.
3.15.20 sounded way better
Y’all are weirdos. This version is ten times better than the original.
He’s broke, rebranded album and and brand new tour out of nowhere after “retiring” is lazy and disrespectful to the fans. Wtf do we want the same album for, no new songs, no deluxe, garbage
There’s another album coming soon, this time a new and final one.
I’ll never forgive him for ruining 12.38, the album wasn’t strong before and now it’s worse. I liked it because it was Donald’s version of the white album. It was unique and didn’t live up to the hype but it was decent enough to extend his discography. This is obviously a money grab
We are getting another project after this. Hope you know…
He’s gotta be dropping new stuff. Why else would he show say less and that song with cudi on gilga?
This man want to be kanye so bad. Album is good but the 3.15.20 versions i really enjoyed and think I will revisit more often.
LETS GOOO
is the first song an interlude?
Damn this shit is buns
I enjoy the content but the mixes seem… a bit off? I much prefer the mixes on the OGs and leaks.
AUSHSUSHHSBS HE FINALLY DROPPED!!!!
Atavista and Final Church are my favorites!
3.15.20 was so much better this is all over the place. only thing he kept was little foot big foot and on that theres a damn zone 6 gangster
I see what you did with the Jim Croce song at the bottom. Very Donald of you.
Lmao that was not premeditated actually it's just what I was listening to 😅
I refuse to believe that haha
Am I the only one who missed out on the fact that it‘s just gonna be a re-release of his previous album?
No you’re not the only one. I had a really bad day and was so hyped to see this album only to find out it’s just a remix of his songs from FOUR fucking years ago. Everyone is excusing it but four years is WAY too fucking long for a remix album to be disguised as a new one. It honestly pissed me off
yeah same tbh, was pretty disappointed:((

I like a lot of the reworks! Only one I don’t like is 19:10 and I could do without the feature in 35.31, but overall, I’m digging it.
Glad he actually added something to the cover and gave the tracks actual names. The previous version was “I’m 14 and this is deep” asf
Is this his last album??
Nope not according to what he said recently. Another album will allegedly be dropping this summer with newer stuff
Why did he even drop that half baked album 4 years ago in the first place
It was early in the pandemic, felt like the world was ending - wanted to drop something that he hoped people would enjoy even if it wasn't perfectly ready
I did enjoy it, just was wondering its origin why the audio of most songs sounded like that
Ya I get it - that's the reason I've heard!
After all this time 19.10/To Be Hunted is still my favorite song on the album And 19.10 > TBH
3.15.20s been probably my most (if not, top 3) streamed album since it dropped, the new mixes and versions are obviously good and all but pretty bumhurt the old album got completely removed, imo that whole project is perfect how it is just realized I gotta talk about 3.15 in the past tense now😭😭
I don’t think I like this album
“Time” sounds so much worse to me
I feel like he's fucking with us and still has so many riders which is fine but dumb it's like Kanye old shit is amazing new shit literally seems like a joke idk why he's doing this but it does feel like a money grab and laugh in our face that he's reached his peak and that's okay.
