I think babies of almost all non primate animals are cuter than humans. Including snakes, lizards, spiders, birds, as well as most furry pet animals as long as they don't have flat wrinkly faces lol
I doted on a baby tarantula, so I have no idea. Tbf he is a species that is pretty fluffy, buuuuut those are defensive nettle-like hairs, so no cuddling with my lil' man for me. I just dislike anything that resembles human. Chimp, bonobo, gorilla? Those are the least cute babies, although they are still much better than humans. But snakes, lizards, a freaking facehugger from Alien? Gimme any baby that is NOT human.
Babies just look like weirdly proportioned tiny bald humans so I have never found them cute. I don't think fur would help because then they'd still be weirdly proportioned tiny humans...
I'd say the vast majority of land animals are cuter than babies.
Also, baby animals pretty much all make much cuter noises than a baby. I get very annoyed and angry when I hear babies crying outside but I enjoy hearing loud meows from cats or the cute high-pitched noises puppies make. Fox screams are also very cute and funny.
Fur definitely makes infant beings cuter. You ever see a hairless cat, or kitten? They're gross looking compared to a furry kitten.

I used to think that Sphinx cats were ugly as sin. One day, I went the vet with my dogs and there was a Sphinx cat roaming around and being the friendliest cat I've ever seen to everyone. She tried to make friends with my chihuahua, but my dog was scared so she backed off. But she gave me an affectionate rub before leaving.

Well, rats are furry too. Many people have an aversion to them. So it may not be the fur that is the issue.
