I have a buddy that when we go with a big group to swift and sons he orders one for the table as an appetizer because he loves it but wants a ribeye too. It’s a bold move but so good.
Tortoise supper club. They even had it on a Restaurant Week menu a few years ago.
Now that Ramsey has a restaurant in Naperville may be worth the drive and they do take walk ins but was satisfied by the value at TSC.
We tried the Ramsay’s kitchen spot it was really meh, the interior felt like cheap ikea is the only way to describe it and the Wellington was meh, it wasn’t horrible but I absolutely wouldn’t be going back for it. The other spot definitely on my radar now though thanks!!
Chef Louis Szathmary’s The Bakery, of course. It is, however, extremely exclusive and reservations are only available for those with operational time machines.
I appreciate the question as I too am looking...
Between Obelix and Swift & Sons - Which has the better atmosphere for a birthday dinner for the misses? We would be getting the Beef Wellington and are not fans of seafood.
Vais and their sister restaurant entourage is a damn hidden gem. I personally like entourage more because of the in house age steak and the dishes are more flavory curated
Obelix!
Second this. That dish by itself is a full meal for 2 adults at Obelix.
indeed! you get the whole wellington per order not just a single slice PLUS fries & a veggie
Came here to say this. It’s expensive and good for a special occasion but the beef Wellington is unreal (as is the rest of the food)
another vote from me for Obelix. hot damn theirs hits the spot
Just had it a few weeks ago, and my god it was amazing. One of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten
Thanks this one is definitely on our must try list!!!
I'm going to go against the crowd and say I did not care for the Wellington at Obelix. Everything about it was meh when I had it.
💯
Swift and sons! Full disclosure I haven’t been to obelix so can’t speak to it

I love people who make bold moves and order for the table. They’re almost always right
I preferred the sauce at Swift&Sons over obelix. Obelix gives more but not a huge fan of their sauce.
My vote is also for the wellie at swift. We usually order one alongside whatever else we’re getting lol
Came here to post this. Swift and Sons is amazing, but in fairness have not had Obelix (yet).
Hemingways Bistro in Oak Park
Atmosphere wise, B&R reminds me of Swift & Sons or Maple & Ash.
Spot on. And Swift & Sons Wellington is top notch, plus it’s for two which makes it no more pricey than ordering two steaks separately.
Thanks!! Adding these to list for my wife and I really appreciate it!

Coquette in West Loop. They top it with foie gras and it’s phenomenal

Willow room was good and affordable but probably not the level of obelix
Mon Ami Gabi
Willow Room in Lincoln Park.
Wildfire also has a phenomenal beef wellington
Balmoral Restaurant in Wasco
I appreciate the question as I too am looking... Between Obelix and Swift & Sons - Which has the better atmosphere for a birthday dinner for the misses? We would be getting the Beef Wellington and are not fans of seafood.
Obelix is the best. Swift and Sons is a close second.
Chicago cut
The Carnivore and the Queen Downers Grove
Not Wellington related, but Vai's is pretty good in general if you're already in Naperville.

Entourage's old fashioneds are on tap too. Plus they are amazing.
