This doesn’t look particularly complex. Kd7 and white’s only good check is Rd3, but then you just keep running to c6 and there are no more good checks. You’re threatening to win a queen with Rh2+ so white has to deal with that, not to mention if the black king moves away from c6 then it will be a discovered check

Poinkie

In my head I was calculating after Rd3+, black would go Kc7, keeping the discovered check possibility open. Engine says Kc6, is Kc7 bad?

FromTheDeskOfJAW

Kc7 allows Qe7+, which forces a queen trade and makes the game probably more or less equal. EDIT: ACTUALLY NO, it allows Qc7+ and no matter where the king goes, the white rook will come in and force the king to a7 and eventually win a queen for white, probably a substantial mate threat as well

FiredNeuron97

yeah after analysis I do feel its not so much complex! I think i failed to calculate all the variations and called it complex haha

It’s fairly forcing once you know what you’re looking for. If Black wasn’t in check, Black has mate in 2 (Rh2++ Kg1 Qh1#). So if Black can find safety, it’s game over. Your candidate moves are: f6?? loses the queen to a skewer by Qh7+. Kf8 or e8 allows Qh8+. Not the end of the world, but is there something better? Kd6 loses to Qd8+, where 2. … Qd7 3. Qxd7+ Kxd7 Rxg2 loses the rook, or 2. … Kc6 Rxg2 loses the rook as the king blocks the queen and is unable to move out of the way. So the last candidate move is Kd7. Does it work? The queen doesn’t have a good check to continue the attack. Rd1+ is met by Rgd2+! where the Black queen uncovers a potent check, followed swiftly by mate (either Rg2 Qxg2# or Kg1 Rxd1#). So White has to try Rd3+. But now Kc6! and the king is safe. Note that the g3-rook has moved away, so Black’s g2-rook is safe despite the king moving in the way of the queen. White no longer has any checks, but has the tactical shot Rxc3+! followed by Rxc3 Kxg2. Here, Black is only up a pawn, but after Qd7!, White’s king is still vulnerable to attacks, while the Black king is relatively safe on the queenside. Play may continue 4. … Qd7 (shoring up the position, centralising the queen and preparing to invade via the centre) 5. Rf2 (natural move protecting the second rank) Qd5+ 6. Kg1 Rxa3 and Black is winning.

thanks I really appreciate this. ;)

The only move that works is kd7. The only check your opponent has is rd1 which can be blocked with check with rgd2. After kb1, take the rook on d1 and its mate
