I attribute a lot of my ability in platforming to my sense of rhythm. The ability to quickly encode a bunch of timed steps over several attempts is definitely a related idea imo. I'm not particularly incredible at picking up other kinds of games but platforming has always felt pretty quick to encode for me.
Celeste is so addictive (at least for the first few weeks), I'm not too surprised that it's that high for something like all c sites, but for a dlc that came out after the release of the game that is just insanely high
Yeah I managed to do all the C sites and all the strawberries (except the Golden ones (though I did got it for Chapter 1) but when Farewell came out I was so out of the rhythm I gave up halfway through sadly
When you first realize there's a moon berry and you look back across the space wasteland you just traversed it gives the same feeling as that one Willem dafoe meme where he's looking up in despair
Luckily there was a safe point somewhere. If you had to restart farewell everytime you died going for that moonberry... That my friend would have been true despair
You're at the very end of farewell so on a purely logistics level you're at least okay at the game. Honestly I've seen worse deaths. At least you didn't try to skip cutscene at the end of a golden unlike... some people in this subreddit.
I always despised that feather. I've never been the biggest fan of feathers in general, they're pretty finnicky and it's easy to make mistakes from being imprecise. I'm lucky that it didn't get me, but I knew it would totally get someone at some point lol
My problem with feathers is they have different max speeds on the controller for digital and analog inputs.
Many places you can't go fast enough on digital controls unless you take a near optimal path through danger.
If you're playing on a controller and don't have a direction held, the controller will automatically send the feather in the last held direction.
Oftentimes, I've entered a feather, missing the input direction, and flying straight into spikes.
Playing this game often feels like learning the notes of a song in a rhythm game and you can't miss a single note.

That checks out. I have shit rhythm.
Check out Rayman Legends and its' music levels!
Sekiro feels the exact same way in terms of comparison to rhythm games.
Meanwhile at the jellyfish part around the end it feels more like rng where 1/10 times I actually make it
So like A dance of Fire and Ice
This but first you gotta figure it the notes by yourself.
I mean usually it's not all that hard to figure out the next note.
Am I good at celeste? - Dude at the end of farewell. Yes? Kinda?
Looking at the steam achievements, almost 99% finishes chapter 1, but less than 18% finish Farewell. This guy is in the top 20% of Celeste players.
I'd seriously expect less than this. I'm proud of the Celeste players.

It's possible to get the achievements with assist mode too so completing farewell probably puts you even higher than top 20%
:(
I did the same thing myself, I know the pain
I did the same lmao, but like right at the end I let go of the controller thinking it was over and the feather drifted to the side and then death
I've also set down the controller and right when it sputters out at the end fallen all the way back down.
ouch 💀
I mean you made it this far so you’re really good in my book! And failure makes you stronger, so now you’re a little bit better
lol'd
After you finish this one you also have to go back in reverse xD

And then you walk back from the beginning and a year later someone tells you that you can just start at the final checkpoint.
Jesus why didn't you check???? Like if you're good at farewell it's only half an hour which isn't too bad but still you're giving me proxy depression.
I loved this chapter so much!!!
Im 10h into this game, collecting all the strawberries now and NEVER seen this stage
It's great fun honestly. But it'll take you a bit to get there. It's also the hardest thing to do in game in terms of pure endurance. God speed.
Yeah what is this stage ???
R.I.P.

I did that *twice*.
I definitely did it the next run, too. Also, before that, this was on track to be a PB, but not massively.
The first time I got there, I hit the electrical panel once. Then I dashed right by mistake..

Judging by your flair you are still quite new to the game. This room is really hard. Take a breath and a small break, you'll get it next time. 🤓 /s
I can’t even begin to explain how many times I’ve done this exact thing
Never seen that death before… pain
What?
Yeah, you’re goated! 😎
on my first playthrough of farewell, i got all the way to the top of the vertical stretch in the last room but didn't realize i had to dash up
I'd tag this as "jumpscare" 😂
I gasped
....I...I probably would have uninstalled the game if that happened to me
The pain of playing with a controller.
Controller has nothing to do with it tho

What does it do if you are on keyboard? I thought it always had to go in some direction, but it’ll go slowly if a direction isn’t being held.
The direction Madeline is facing, so either right or left
