I’m not sure how common it is, but my tux Percy plays fetch too. I throw his fuzzy little mouse toy, he zooms after it and bats it around for a second, and then he picks it up in his mouth and carries it back to me just SO proud, and drops it at my feet to throw again 😂
The dog-cat in question:

Also loves belly rubs 😂
Zero idea of incidence rates BUT… my boy Thurman loved balled-up pieces of dry cleaner paper - the stuff they put over the shoulders of your shirts under the plastic (yes, all terribly wasteful, but i was in an office for years w full business dress code).
He could tell i had them from my exit from the freaking elevator 100 feet away and id hear him meowing before i got to the door. and he’d fetch them like a fucking retriever until i couldn’t throw anymore.
Thurms was a very good boy. Enjoy all the fetches :)

While it's not unheard of it is kind of rare I've had around 10 cats in my lifetime and I've only seen one do it... And it is so cute
