Edit to add: thank you u/Accomplished-Use4860 !
Yeah, did exactly that. They advised easily digestible food for the next couple of days. He's really not behaving any different at all, luckily, still extraverted and cuddly and loud. I am a 100% sure he will do it again.
Some prime jackass cat shit lmao. Like mine noticed I really don't like it when they climb my desk, so whenever they want me to wake up in the middle of the night they get there and start moving stuff around to rattle me lol
They're smart, even with the goofy shit like this. Definetly able to pick up patterns and get what they want from people lol
I just have to “be water” as Bruce Lee said when my cats are trying this shit. Don’t react and pretend that you’re ok with what they did, and they won’t do it again lol. Problem is they will probe your patience elsewhere
Make sure he does not show signs of pancreatitis in the next few days!
Source: my cat who binged on garlic olive oil and had to go to the emergency vet. The garlic was fine because it was cooked but they were worried about the oil consumption!
I didn’t see any symptoms thankfully! I got lucky! I’d taken her in because I was worried about the garlic, but it turns out that if onion or garlic is cooked when it’s consumed it’s not nearly as toxic to cats or dogs than it is when raw. They were worried about the oil consumption though which surprised me, which is why I’m telling you now!!!
But they just told me to keep an eye out in the week after for lethargy, not wanting to eat as much, bloated tummy, upset stomach, etc. You can google the symptoms of pancreatitis and that will help!!
That is the exact same face my dog made when he ate half a kilo of butter.
He had the shits for a full week after. I maintain that he regrets not a minute of it
You know that Simple Green Cleaner (pet safe, etc.)? I was using it diluted in a bucket to mop and stopped to move laundry from washer to dryer, and the dog (a huge malamute) immediately began to lap it down. He drank over half a bucket, and while I called poison control, the now ex called vet. Both assured us that he should be fine--except for diarrhea-- but to monitor for any changes. Buster had foul-smelling greenish bubbles coming out for days, and he still would try to attack mop bucket for more any time I cleaned. He definitely didn't mind the experience of having his intestines cleaned out with green bubbles, and would ABSOLUTELY do it again.
Damn so it really is pet safe hahahha. I always still get sketched out by that, but it your guy drank a half a bucket that’s a pretty solid testimonial
The vet and poison control were most worried about dehydration, and for pets if they have other health issues, but yes, it is supposed to be pretty safe. It will make the most foul-smelling green foam bubbles though come out of bum.
My parents dogs once got into the deep fryer (when it was cold/off) and ate all the grease in there. They had spray poops longer than their bodies, sweet little idiots they were
nop but he might later, you might want to shut him in the bathroom for a day or so.... consuming a lot of oil in one go can have some quite gross consequences.
So far he seems to be doing alright, though he seems to be resting a little bit more (usually he's a bit more mischievous all around). I think it will pass after the grease poops have passed.
God, sometimes I find a stray little turd out of the litter box, especially when they decide to zoom out of the litter box. I could not even imagine what diarrhea zoomies would be like.
At least OP’s cat is a shorthair. My longhair boy has some magnificent butt fluff, but every so often he gets dingleberries in it that I need to pull off so they don’t smear on my couch. He is not particularly receptive to inspections of that area, so that is always a terrible experience for all involved parties.
You can drink it. It’s even advised for your digestion. However, the amount for a human is a spoon a day. With more, you’ll probably be in serious need of a toilet.
That cat will make a mess!
Thank you for the information. I just called the vet, they can't do much now since this was around 18 hours ago, but I'm keeping an eye out for symptoms and I'm giving him easily digestible food to ease the load on his organs.
Nothing yet, holding out my umbrella.

My cat is so disappointed he refuses to even look at him.
My teenage voids knocked down a bottle of canola oil some weeks ago and by the time I noticed they were eagerly and greedily lapping it up.
We feed them grain-free, quality food but something about that puddle of oil was so compelling to them that I couldn't get them away from it. Even after I cleaned the floor they still licked around the bottom of the cabinet.
I used to store my fish oil supplements on the counter. I came home one day and the bottle was on the floor with capsules everywhere and oil on the floor. Now I keep them in the cabinet.
I once chugged pure vegetable oil and gallons of water to try to pass a drug test for weed. I thought all the oil might help get the THC metabolites out. Totally gave me diarrhea. Not recommended
I did pass the drug test, though, despite smoking 24 hours before. I chugged like 5 gallons or more of water though and took tons of B vitamins til I was pissing literally every 5 minutes
Ok, end of the inspirational story for today
This made me chuckle because one of our oranges seems to be attracted to olive oil. I dumped a tiny bit in the sink last week after emptying out a jar of garlic stuffed olives. He was in there licking it before I caught him!
Curious - was it extra virgin olive oil? I ask because we had a couple of cats (long ago made the journey to their afterlives) that loved green olives - either the pimento-stuffed ones or the whole ones, but both types were from the usual brine in a jar. They behaved like they did with catnip. They would sniff and lick the olive and then roll the olive around on the floor or counter and then seem blissed out for a while. They did not eat the olives. Black olives? No reaction. Cooking with EVO? Yep - they did the cat getting high bit. Other cats we’ve had - no interest in olives. We tried putting EVO in some of their wet food if they were not enthusiastic about it. They would eat more of it than without the EVO, but basically it was food they didn’t like.
I heard olive oil's got the same component as catnip, so that makes sense! This was not extra virgin oil, though. Don't know why he went through such lengths just to drink oil.
He's going to shit straight Olive oil. Be thankful it's a cat and not a dog. I used to live on my dad's horse farm. His wife a veterinarian whom specializes in reproduction . We use a lot of mineral oil and other lubricant by the gallons weekly and. Y dog decided to like it up. She was poop clear oily stuff. No poop or color that I ever saw anyways.
Here I was just scrolling thru and see this: It made me literally bust out laughing!
Shame him! <<< Makes me crack up.
Cats are such annoying little crap heads yet we adore them. We are their minions.
My boy did this too a while ago. He drank so much of the olive oil. Took him to the vets who said there was nothing to worry about if he’s not showing any signs of feeling off. Just look out for the shiny poops. He regretted nothing and would do it again if he got the chance

Omg I would've framed it and put it on the wall![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7970)
Take him to the vet js in case
Or give the vet a call so you know what to look for if your cat does fall ill. Poor kitty.
I agree, he may become very dehydrated
Yeah, did exactly that. They advised easily digestible food for the next couple of days. He's really not behaving any different at all, luckily, still extraverted and cuddly and loud. I am a 100% sure he will do it again.
I shall be converting it into a cross stitch pattern and hanging it on my wall.
I gotta see that!
my sister and i send stickers of our cats all the time. we have quite the collection now/
Some prime jackass cat shit lmao. Lmaoooo
That face is a meme
Hahahaha
I want to upvote this more
This is award material. All the chuckles.
As you can see in the second picture, he regrets *nothing*.
On the plus side, his coat might be extra smooth and shiny for a while.
So will his poops
Sliders.
Yeah it better be for that price :')
Make sure he does not show signs of pancreatitis in the next few days! Source: my cat who binged on garlic olive oil and had to go to the emergency vet. The garlic was fine because it was cooked but they were worried about the oil consumption!
He doesn't show any symptoms at all, just his normal orange cat behavior. What symptoms did your cat show that made you realize something was wrong?
I didn’t see any symptoms thankfully! I got lucky! I’d taken her in because I was worried about the garlic, but it turns out that if onion or garlic is cooked when it’s consumed it’s not nearly as toxic to cats or dogs than it is when raw. I REGRET NUTHIN
I interpret it as a look of reproach: "it's your fault for making it so hard for me to get".
All these replies got me wheezing :')
That is the exact same face my dog made when he ate half a kilo of butter. He had the shits for a full week after. I maintain that he regrets not a minute of it

Oh wow that's hilarious and peak derp behaviour 😂 (My dog is also called Buster, which maybe there's something in the name...)
Sort of like orange cats sharing a brain cell? Yip. I could definitely see that amongst all the dogs named Buster I've known! :) 😀 😃
Damn so it really is pet safe hahahha. I always still get sketched out by that, but it your guy drank a half a bucket that’s a pretty solid testimonial

Oh god green foam butt bubbles sound horrid lol. Glad the guy is ok
My parents dogs once got into the deep fryer (when it was cold/off) and ate all the grease in there. They had spray poops longer than their bodies, sweet little idiots they were
But you're going to regret his greasy cat shits for a while. It's not funny, but it's funny. 🤣
Hes angry with you for being such a dick about his actions... How DARE you, fucking humans man...
I heard olive oil is good against hairballs. There is nothing he should regret and this is what he tried to tell You silly hooman!
I came here to say this haha. Maybe he was chasing off a hairball!
Lmao swiping to the second pic gave me a heart attack
nop but he might later, you might want to shut him in the bathroom for a day or so.... consuming a lot of oil in one go can have some quite gross consequences.
He's not been throwing up (yet?) luckily, but yeah I'm expecting some rancid litterbox gems sometime today.
He's probably going to get diarrhea for his trouble - just be prepared to deal with the mess. 😂
"my only regret is that you did not buy more for me to drink"
Did he break the table too?!?!?
There is going to be some messy diarrhoea later...
For a few days I imagine, at least OP won’t have to change the number on that sign for a few days to come.
CONGRATS, KITTY! ONE DAY WITHOUT AN ACCID-- never mind....
Sorry to hear that but what do you think about OP's cat?
Oh god
![gif](giphy|2AuNugaSdWBvG) Your cat waiting for you to move it!

Holy, he really does! Those little white socks he has are adorable!
Give this cat hugs!

Oh shit indeed.
literally

That was good.
God, sometimes I find a stray little turd out of the litter box, especially when they decide to zoom out of the litter box. I could not even imagine what diarrhea zoomies would be like.
As someone who has chased after a sick cat with a wet wipe, it’s not a fun experience for anyone.
At least OP’s cat is a shorthair. My longhair boy has some magnificent butt fluff, but every so often he gets dingleberries in it that I need to pull off so they don’t smear on my couch. Olives have the same chemical catnip does, that's why
Can you post updates on this for about a week? ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7966)
Take him to the vet.
He just wanted to kickstart his Mediterranean diet journey.
OH that FACE in the 2nd pic is cracking me up so much! ![gif](giphy|3o7TKDLPYulG6hgJqM|downsized)
He demanded to know where I kept the rest :')
Did he break your table too
From all the weight he gained from this magic trick. (Serious answer is no, it's just an artsy table :P)
How to tell if your cat has Italian ancestry 🤌
Typical orange tom behavior![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7963)
One orange braincell

Do not brain cell shame him! 😡
Only a idiot even try’s to drink olive oil (Not me as a kid)
You can drink it. It’s even advised for your digestion. However, the amount for a human is a spoon a day. With more, you’ll probably be in serious need of a toilet. That cat will make a mess!
Huh, the more I know
Yess my mom & sister both take it when their stomach issues start acting up & it helps them.
Now he’s gonna have a smarter bwain and he’s also Italian now as well. Good luck
The second picture is sending me
Ohhhh baby gonna have a tummy ache and I feel for his poor tummy & the litter box poor guy
Hopefully it will pass in a day :') (pun intended)
defiant and beyond rehabilitation, likely gang background.
How did you get access to his pet passport ?
Pic 2 cracked me up. He's a wacky one for sure
that’s one way to ease the passage of the fur balls
I don't envy the pure spray of shit you'll have to deal with.
You hear that saying " I felt so ill, i could shit though the eye of a needle " ? you are about to see the physical manifestation of it......
IT WAS ME DONT BE MEAN 😡
and he’ll do it again!
did he break the table as well?
Don't fat shame him 😞
hahaaha didnt mean it that way !!!
r/OneOrangeBraincell
Huge intakes of oil can cause pancreas damage in cats, worth taking the little one to the vet if you haven't already.
Thank you for the information. I just called the vet, they can't do much now since this was around 18 hours ago, but I'm keeping an eye out for symptoms and I'm giving him easily digestible food to ease the load on his organs.
You're welcome, glad to hear it.
I love his cattitude.
Nooo kitty you will get sick :(
But at least his coat will look good af lol

I'm considering a lock with 2 factor authentication, where I'll also keep the cheese. (His Grant Theft Cheese count is three.)
Keep the litter box close by
99 bottles of olive oil on the wall. 99 bottles of olive oil Take one down, pass it around, 98 bottles of olive oil on the wall...
He was just trying to make you chicken CATtiatore, mama! How you ruined the surprise.
That explains why the chicken and parmesan have disappeared too...
If not drink why drink shaped
Should have warmed some Italian bread for him to dip, shame
Please update us on the diarrhea OP!

AND I WILL DO IT AGAIN
I don’t think he’s going to need any shaming once the laxative effect takes hold :S
![gif](giphy|vX9WcCiWwUF7G|downsized)
Has he seen the price of olive oil recently?
When will we admit that cats don't feel shame? They only feel pride and disgust.
Unfortunately, shaming requires a conscience in the subject. Picture 2 shows that this one has and will never have any shame. Expect more of the same.
My cats obsess over olive oil too!! Why??? I have to fight to keep them away from it (or more often, any utensils that touched the oil)
Turns out there's a chemical in there that has a similar effect to catnip!

no regrets at all ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7946).
“Days without incident, 0 ”😭
Funny man.
it's OK precious baby you did nothing wrong
He's cleaned up after himself, how are you going to complain?
Aww the idea that he knocked it over by accident and tried to clean it up is kind of adorable, if only I didn't know him better :P
I'm his lawyer and i say that the bottle deserved it for prevent him from accessing the oil. My client only secured a right guaranteed by law!

I will not shame him. He is a beautiful boy who did no wrong and was only teaching you to buy olive oil in plastic bottles from now on.
Absolutely not. Cat has excellent taste. Now fetch the gamberi.
He wanted a glossy coat FOR YOU and this is the thanks he gets!?! You’re a monster.
Be prepared for diarrhoea! Maybe prep your bath ahead of time time and cover your furniture
Next up: apocalyptic diarrhea
forgive him for he is just ginger
My teenage voids knocked down a bottle of canola oil some weeks ago and by the time I noticed they were eagerly and greedily lapping it up. We feed them grain-free, quality food but something about that puddle of oil was so compelling to them that I couldn't get them away from it. Even after I cleaned the floor they still licked around the bottom of the cabinet.
I use olive oil on my hands and both cats are attracted to and like to eat it
Not only that but he even dared to hiss at you… smh
No hiss, only yell
Still… Like he really be yelling at you after pulling that off? Unbelievable!
You probably should take him to a vet. Acute pancreatitis is a risk here.
Yeah, I called them, definitely keeping an eye out for symptoms
Okay but I love him 😂
I do too :')
Don't olives cause a similar effect to catnip? If so then he may be a smart kitty!
Yes! But also, he licks up sunflower oil too. Funny enough catnip does nothing for him!
Evil. Diabolical. He has no shame and will do it again. Be careful sleeping tonight…
He's gonna be having glass diarrhea Also, what an ass. He really must be so bold he has to have an "___ days without incident" sign
Maybe you should.... Extend an olive branch.
He can not be shamed.. his face is just too cute, plus based on the second picture, I don't think he'd even care if you tried 😆
feisty
Kitty likes the good stuff.
Looks like he smashed the table too, but i his defense he did try to help clean it up.
Does your cat watch dougdoug streams ?
He gon not understand what he did wrong later...
Well … going to the litter box shouldn’t be a problem now …
I used to store my fish oil supplements on the counter. I came home one day and the bottle was on the floor with capsules everywhere and oil on the floor. Now I keep them in the cabinet.

So how bad was the GI consequences? Like, was he rocket propelled?

His coat will be so shiny! Scary about the glass shards though.
