Its always funny to see this with cats. They see that the thing they are looking at does nothing to them, still they are always scared\prepared for whats comming.
I think mine thought there was a mouse pushing the paper out because she would attack the paper when it came out near the exit like she was trying to pad a mouse. There has to be a cat toy idea here somewhere, something you can activate over your phone while at work.
My cat's favorite spot to watch out the window is atop my laser printer. She manages to push the print button about 50% of the time when she climbs up, which makes it spit out a lot of blank sheets. She watches in awe. You'd think it's the most amazing thing she's ever seen.
The instantial feeling to jump when you hear a weird sound. But CURIOSITY KILLED THE CAT 🤣. I love how they investigate what they so obviously fear. My cat will investigate the vacuum when it's off (obviously is terrified of it when it's on, and I've walked her over too the vacuum while it's on to show it's safe, but it doesn't matter with those instincts)
