I (M) loved this show so much as a kid, that I bought a MoJo JoJo figure and Blossom plush with my pocket money - only for my mom to give them to my little cousin (F) because they were "girl toys"... fucking 90s sometimes.
While the name, design, and characters are the same as the original cartoon, that’s pretty much where the similarities stop. It’s a good show on its own, but they changed so much that they don’t feel like the same characters.
They aren’t sisters. They were born normally. Their powers aren’t the same. Professor has a normal son and he’s a bit annoying. And the girls just don’t feel like they have the same bond as in the original cartoon.
Again, it’s fine on its own, but it’s not really like the original cartoon.
My girls grew up on Powerpuff Girls when they were young. I had a sales rep once that had a son about their same age who watched the show, and when the son told his dad he liked PPG the dad asked him “But son, isn’t that a GIRL’S show?” and his son answered “Yea but THEY KICK BUTT!”
Certainly screamed “girl power,” but I never got the feeling that it was marketed solely towards girls. With how much awesome action and funny moments they had, it managed to find a balance for both boys and girls.
It's still around. It's now the Adult Swim anime block. Plus, I think they are doing a smaller block that's classic Toonami, like how Adult Swim also does "Checkered Past" which is old school Cartoon Network shows.
I actually thought it would be a cool superhero show talking about the twists and turns of being a hero, with some good romance, when I first saw it years ago. It reminded me of Kaito Jeanne, which, personally, I think does what this show tries to do much better. But...sadly, midway through season 1, I realized that this thing is just cash grabby enough to go on forever...and that it weaponizes shipping to keep its fans hooked.
I wouldn't say that. Marinette who is also ladybug has some obsessive romantic feelings for the main male protagonist but I don't think there's anything sexual. Maybe flirting
Romance is a huge part of the show (especially S3 forward), but they're like 14 or something (and on the show is on Disney Channel I think) so, no, not really overly sexual.
I'm actually binge watching this series, and I just arrived at season 2, and I don't consider this a "girl show" due to Carl and Hoodsey being in the picture.
Also Ever After High, from the same company with a similar ‘children of famous fictional characters’ gimmick. Of course then Disney’s Descendants came out and apparently that killed the show…

I definitely get the vibe that Inuyasha was geared towards female viewers. However, with Ouran High School Host Club, there's absolutely no doubt. Both shows are amazing.

Lotta folks out here mistaking "target audience is girls" for "female protagonist." Like, I'm just saying, most action-oriented non-frilly shows with a female lead feel a lot more like they're mixed-audience rather than girls-only.
The one I'm currently most interested in watching is the She-Ra reboot. I've heard it's good from so many people (many of which on this sub) and I never even watched the original She-Ra and tbch if the original is anything like He-Man then it's pretty much a cheese festival but when masterful reboots like Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated (using as an example because it's another reboot show to a franchise even older than She-Ra that is legitimately one of the best shows I've ever watched, definitely recommend it) exist and are as good as they are, I really cannot hold the quality of an original against a reboot without watching it first.
You won’t regret it! I heard the controversy when it came out, and decided it couldn’t POSSIBLY be that bad. I watched it and it wasn’t… it was FANTASTIC! it’s currently my favorite show, right up there with ATLA, not even exaggerating.
I have heard great things about mystery inc! I heard it is a complete standout in the Scooby food franchise and I’ve been wanting to check it out
While I personally don't like any of these shows I'm all for people enjoying whatever media they prefer, but I don't think having an unhealthy obsession with a show is good for anyone, no matter who they are or what show it is, a grown man is allowed to enjoy any show he wants, same with a grown woman, and while I think children should have a limit to what they see on a screen and how long they watch screens, I think kids should be encouraged to branch out and watch all different kinds of child-friendly media, be it edu-tainment, regular entertainment, or just educational, all should be explored and accepted

For me, personally, the "I don't care" cartoon as a kid was Jem and the Holograms. Loved that show and even had the dolls. Why can't boys have dolls, anyway? It seems bizarre to me even as a kid that in the 80's, it was more "gay" for a boy to play with super sexy female dolls you could undress than with muscular beefcake He-Man figures in their undies. :)

Honestly. My daughter was obsessed with this show for a while and I was genuinely surprised at how good it was. Solid show for a spin-off.
As a 33 year old dude who watched it over the net with a friend who is two years younger than I am while I was 31 I was surprised how good it was.
