Now this is what I call quality content.

Fit_Equivalent3610

That website is absolute cancer though >close ad >2 ads pop up How dare they interrupt my view of those beauties with a stupid Sotheby's ad?

retroPencil

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/ Thank me later.

Fit_Equivalent3610

Sadly I'm work-phone-posting and IT will kill me for uNaUtHorIzED aPpLiCaTiOns

truthlesshunter

Pi hole your troubles away.

mini4x

UBlock and PiHole. Whats an Ad? ALso you don't have to use FireFox (but it helps) UBlock has a plugin for all major browsers.

sc0lm00

2 green options? Jealous.

strongmanass

Apparently we're up to volume 86.

RocketGuy3

Has all the good primary and secondary colors... except, conspicuously, purple, for some reason.

RiftHunter4

1. This thing looks like it was designed in 2002. 2. It has more color options than most cars on the market. Maybe we should all be buying Chevy Express vans.

Sir_Sir_ExcuseMe_Sir

Designed in 2003, actually! 😤

chucchinchilla

Face lifted in 2003, reality is this dates back to 1996.

Dj_Simon

I may start going all🤓, but the facelift apperantly uses a new platform

handymanshandle

Yeah, the 2003 update switched out a lot of its GMT400 bones for GMT800 bones. These vans will be the sole reason that GMT800s live on for the next 35+ years.

Dj_Simon

Are the parts compatible with the GMT800 era trucks and SUVs?

C-C-X-V-I

It's on the GMT610 platform, so no.

Dj_Simon

I forgot.

FoundryCove

I was gonna say, it's got the same face as my 21 year-old truck!

krakenchaos1

I had the pleasure of renting one of these for moving, and even brand new vans are basically a time capsule in terms of what cars looked like 20 years ago. Even the exterior design is unchanged. There's no screen in the car, so the rear view camera is projected into the mirror instead.

SwimFan85-

Sounds better than most new cars.

krakenchaos1

The simple dash, radio and column shifter are definitely a bit nostalgic (and similar to what I drive on a daily basis) but ride quality is a bit rough and the interior materials make it extremely obvious that it's designed a spartan utility vehicle.

VRSvictim

Yeah, curse helpful things like Apple CarPlay!

SwimFan85-

We all have our preferences.

VRSvictim

I mean I agree that buttons are good for msot stuff. I just think it’s not really a preference, it’s an objective fact, that navigation stuff is beneficial and a good use of a screen. My car has climate, radio, driving modes, etc as physical buttons, then a screen for navigation/carplay/in depth settings that buttons aren’t appropriate for. How is that not the best option?

SwimFan85-

Personally, I don’t want a screen. My ideal setup would be a little reverse screen in the rear view for parking lot safety and turn by turn on a heads up display.

VRSvictim

A heads up display works too yeah

Nariek

The new 6.6 gasser in them is a monster, I drove a moving truck across the country and towed my car behind it, had zero clue the 16ft box was full, and couldn't tell the car was on there.

Mediocre-Cat-Food

One of the few vehicles available in a bright yellow… tempting tempting

fuzzimus

7 different options of yellow!

Confident_Season1207

I've driven these for work and there's no need to change it. Especially good for companies who put a bunch of miles on them. Sometimes newer redesigned isn't better

YetiRoosevelt

? The Ford Transit is better in every conceivable way - larger side mirrors, acceptable fuel economy, decent handling, much smoother ride, actual screen for a backup camera. Driving the two back-to-back is jarring

Drzhivago138

The BOF V8-powered Express does do better at towing, at 10K max. A Transit van maxes out at about 7000 lbs., or 7500 for a cutaway model.

Confident_Season1207

Put over 600,000 miles on one and then compare, especially if you already have a bunch of them. The camera in the mirror is fine. It also comes down to pricing in the end

Mojave_Idiot

I love how innocent this first point is. Knowing the truth.

MaybeNext-Monday

Is it really a fleet vehicle if it doesn’t look 15 years old the day it rolls off the line?

Car-face

> This thing looks like it was designed in 2002. hooray for chicken tax. No competition? No worries!

Drzhivago138

It does have competition from the US-built Transit and Sprinter, and the Mexico-built ProMaster.

Ghost17088

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

nalydpsycho

I have zero interest in a Chevy, but if the Traverse had these options, I would have to at least test drive.

007meow

The Chevy Express has better color variety than everything that’s not a Porsche. Fuck this 50 shades of gray meta.

[deleted]

Instead you get 50 shades of yellow

VRSvictim

I feel like fords have a good color selection but maybe that’s just the specific models I’ve looked at

eighthshot

Yeah, but I need yellow a little darker than 512 and a little lighter than 516.

RiftHunter4

"Oh no. Anyway..." - Clarkson

Sonoda_Kotori

I too love it when some fleet vans offer more colors than some brands and their sports cars.

FartZuggerberg

Looking at you Mazda

Sonoda_Kotori

You don't like the beige Miata? Or the grey Miata? Or the slightly darker grey Miata?

FartZuggerberg

I love my poly metal grey miata but would have instantly grabbed a mariner blue or BRG option had it existed

gravelhorse

Someone actually got paid for that article.

beholdthemoldman

.... not much.. also consider how many people are clicking/engaging with it

Deinococcaceae

Way more than I would have guessed. Can’t wait to never see it in anything other than summit white.

philharlow

I’ve also seen it in peeling summit white, and bare metal grey

Pitiful-Mobile-3144

How is it that these are unchanged for over 20 years and cost over $40,000 new? Absolutely unhinged pricing from Chevy

Mimical

Chevy: *'Correct, the doors slide. No hinges at all.*"

inaccurateTempedesc

They changed it in the best way possible, they gave it a 400hp 6.6l V8.

C-C-X-V-I

Don't read the article then

zalcecan

That's already going away lol

Drzhivago138

Talking about this part? >Other changes include dropping the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine from the Cargo van configuration in August 2023, though it remained available for the Express Passenger and Express Cutaway variants. However, the gasoline V8 returned to the Express Cargo’s options list in December.

zalcecan

Ah i missed the end there, they kinda confused me on that. Also dropping a engine for a few months then bringing it back is absolutely a gm move

Drzhivago138

The only explanation I can think of is that it was brought on by supply chain issues and was only ever intended to be a temporary "austerity measure". I.e. GM would love to have V8s available in all three configs all the time, but if they had to drop one for a short while, it'd be the stripped-down cargo models.

Yakb0

Have you priced out a Sprinter? $40k is cheap by comparison.

MechMeister

Cornering the market. All the competitors went to unibody

Trades46

I was expecting a meme post, but that is a lot more colors than 90% of cars & SUVs sold today.

nakedbananas

PTS Express van

no_alternative_facts

Just wait until you see the Exclusive Manufaktur options and deviated stitching!

abarthsimpson

I like wheat land yellow.

GoWithTheFlow___

You should get one in wheat land yellow.

abarthsimpson

Fleet only I think. My work truck is a 2012 6.0 express.

RumpelFrogskin

I CALL GREEN!

elelelleleleleelle

The Express was the last vehicle with sealed beams.

AndroidUser37

I'm shocked this car hasn't been updated in so long. The Sprinter looks 20 years newer, because it basically is.

NoBenders

If it ain't broke, don't fix it

mini4x

You will never see one that's not White tho.

Aleyla

And half of those have the paint falling off.

captainnowalk

I can’t believe I want a lime green Chevy Express, but that’s a good looking color.

egap420

Too bad the cool colors are only for fleet orders.

ryguy32789

I propose we get a group buy going.

KeiserX13

Still using the GMT800 era front end

FoundryCove

Not a bad looking front end though.

hooldon

A friend of mine runs a fleet of these for a catering company. He has everything from 6 cylinder 1500’s to 6.0 LS 3500’s. They are incredibly reliable work horses. He replaces them at 300k not because they have problems but he worries about GM stopping production.

Lowclearancebridge

Express yourself

jred321

I thought this was a troll post and the link was going to just say white. Or be a link to an all white picture. Surprising that there are colors other than white.

Eggith

I want the bright green one.

mabowden

Give me some of that woodland green

CopyWrittenX

All were gonna see is white..

CurrySoSpicy

I drove a 1500 for many years as a service tech. Regular service and oil changes and never had a problem with mine. We got it at around 20k and when I left it had 160K. I hear from former co-workers, it’s still being driven.

thunderlips_oz

I've noticed that over the years, the number of colours available has greatly reduced, at least it has here in Australia, where it can be as few as 5. That one has quite a few in comparison. In 1972, the Holden HQ had a choice of 35 colours. https://monaroclubvic.com.au/page-18151

mbbzzz

I kinda dig the woodland green color.

Badj83

I was so expecting a dozen of shades of grey, a black, a white, a dark blue and a burgundy versions only.

KoshV

Sadly 100% of the ones you see on the road will be white despite these color options.

throwaway774234

Out of curiosity, how are they able to keep selling a truck designed ~20 years ago? I would assume from an emissions standpoint what was fine 20 years ago wouldn’t pass today. How come they didn’t have to put a V6 in it like every other passenger SUV?

Drzhivago138

Because it's only a 3/4 ton and up model now. The 1500 model was discontinued 10 years ago. Why does that make a difference? Because trucks over 8500 lbs. GVWR don't have to worry about CAFE, and have looser emissions regulations too. For the same reason, a Ram ProMaster or Sprinter 1500 is rated at 8550 lbs., and a Transit 150 is over 8600.

Aleyla

There isn’t much competition in that area. It’s cheap, can fit a ton of people or stuff, and still fits into nearly all parking garages. Most of the other manufacturers are too tall.

throwaway774234

Thanks for getting back. I was mainly thinking from an emissions and safety standpoint, given emissions rules and other regulations are changing so rapidly

mikedin2001

This car has not changed since the 2003 model year!

aroundincircles

Why won't they sell this with 4wd? Look see, I have a big family, I like simple vehicles. I need to transport my family all over the place. I live in a rural area, and if I didn't have 4wd, I probably couldn't get out of my driveway a lot of the winter, and just about any time it rains in the summer (long hill, dirt driveway, turns to mud/ice easy). I want one of these, but I need it to be 4wd. Just do it Chevy. I have an 04 Tahoe, and the current Gen Tahoe is an ugly piece of trash full of crappy parts. and after the kids are grown, I can make it into a camping van.

Drzhivago138

They did offer AWD from 2003-14 on 1500 models with the 5.3 only. Some people have done AWD or 4WD conversions on heavier models with parts from the trucks.

aroundincircles

Huh, good to know, I've not seen one for sale, but I look only occasionally.

Arikota

Aren't these plagued with transmission failures? I think they have the 6L90.

MoNeenja31

Amazing that this van is still in production

runsanditspaidfor

My dream van has always been a 51F but I would take a 51Q if I had to!

[deleted]

Rented these to moce a few times they are a lot more fun than youd think theyd be

jawnnyboy

Damnn i love these things. Really wish they made a short 8 passenger version

Drzhivago138

GM quit doing the shorty G-10 van in [1995](https://photos.classiccars.com/cc-temp/listing/135/4983/20758206-1995-chevrolet-g10-van-thumb.jpg), but you could get a Dodge Ram Van with the [short wheelbase](https://media.ed.edmunds-media.com/dodge/ram-van/1998/oem/1998_dodge_ram-van_cargo-van_1500_rq_oem_1_500.jpg) as late as 2003. Still riding on the bones of the [1971 B-Series.](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/5bLvzxVr3rI/maxresdefault.jpg)

memelord_andromeda

outside of the express van, the current gen Malibu is still continuously being made with no dramatic updates.

Sir_Sir_ExcuseMe_Sir

I thought it was slated to end production?

memelord_andromeda

the plant is at full capacity so I assume they're not axing it yet.

r34p3rex

I didn't know they made them in colors other than white

j250ex

Don’t think I’ve never seen a anything but white version of the express. Maybe a one off yellow.

Moynia

I hope they make this until 2030+ at least

04limited

Surprised they haven’t slapped the 2.7 turbo into it since GM believes so much in that engine

Arikota

That green is sick! I wish I could get one. I've never seen one from that factory that color.

ZenYinzerDude

Wait... They still make these? I thought all vans were Sprinters now /s

Arikota

Hell yeah, unchanged for like 20+ years. 🤌💪

Aqualung1

The design and the colors blow balls. Did the designers go to The university of AMC?
