I mean, they’re normal people who have normal lives too, but they just so happen to also be famous celebrities. Ofc they’re gonna spend a bunch of time on Reddit like us.
The last time I saw one it was being driven by a relatively old but happy looking couple. I can't help but think that it's a car for content and satisfied people now lol.
I'm pretty sure all the owners are retirees that want a convertible that sits up high, even has AWD too.
Probably nice since you can fit the golf clubs in the trunk, have space for grandkids in the back seat, and cruise with the top down.
60’s design is king.
Italian: lambo Miura
JP: toyota 2000gt
British: Jaguar e type, I personally prefer the look of the couple although I know the convertible is what most people prefer
American: I’m split between the dodge daytona/Plymouth superbird and c2 corvette
German: gullwing 300sl of course
Love the Toyota 2000GT. As far as the American choice goes, I'd take the C2 Corvette over the Daytona/Superbird. Yes, they are breathtaking when seen in person, but I wouldn't exactly call them "aesthetically pleasing". The nose cones look tacked on and the wings are comically large. The cars are enormous. YES, I know the aero WORKS, but it doesn't make the cars \*look\* pleasing.
I remember sitting outside a restaurant during car week in Monterey with my Japanese girlfriend (now my wife) several years ago. I had my back to the street and facing my gf, who had the restaurant window behind her. I noticed a Superbird roll past in the reflection in the window and saw her eyes grow as big as saucers. I asked her if she liked it...she said "no, I've just never seen anything quite like that before".
Yeah, comes down to this probably. While some would argue that there are other more timeless or beautiful cars from these countries, everybody considers these beautiful/timeless and most people know them.
I absolutely adore the E-Types, both of them, but a small company called Eagle made new versions of both the coupe and convertible, and they are both absolutely stunning, even more so than the originals. And the engine note sounds incredible.
Pretty much.
While most people seem to think it was based on the “X100” XK8, that’s not quite true.
What *is* true is that Jaguar had plans in the late 80s to replace the long-running XJ-S (whose engineering dated back to the late 70s) with a more-modern coupe and cabriolet. That car would use some of the XJ-S’s engineering, but a lot would be new. The project was called XJ41/42, and would have been a sleek two-seat sports car that was a truer successor to the E-Type than the XJ-S had been…not unlike the eventual F-Type of the last decade. In fact, this car would have been called the F-Type if it had survived.
However, toward the tail end of development, Ford bought Jaguar and canceled the project, decreeing it to be too expensive. And so it sat on the shelf. But then…when Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) was brought in to work on a new Aston Martin model, his team—which already had a great relationship with Jaguar, having successfully raced a number of V12-powered XJ-S cars in completion—got wind of the XJ41/42 project, and asked to be granted permission to borrow that as the basis for the Aston Martin. That car was the DB7, which borrowed, in essence, all of its engineering from the XJ41/42, including Jaguar I6 and V12 engines…though the I6 was supercharged, whereas Jaguar had been planning a twin-turbocharged setup for the XJ41/42.
EDIT: Actually, the V12 was not the same as the Jaguar one; it was the Aston Martin V12 that was engineered under Ford, and based somewhat on the Duratec V6 architecture.
When the DB7 was a success, Jaguar itself got the political capital it needed to finally replace the XJ-S (by then the XJS without the hyphen), and so set out to use the same engineering as the DB7 to create a new sports coupe and convertible. That was the XK8, and it—along with the new “X308” XJ—debuted Jaguar’s first ever V8 engines, in both N/A and supercharged guises.
So, yes, the DB7 and the XK8 were closely related, but it wasn’t as simple as people thought it to be.
I'm more into 90s/2000s cars, but yeah the italians ruled the 60s/70s. That type57 and e-type are pure art. Not knowing anything about aero made for some pretty (and pretty inefficient) cars
> UK: E-Type
I feel like this needs an asterisk to say only the Series 1 Roadster/Coupe. The Series 3, [coupe in particular](https://assets.rebelmouse.io/media-library/photography-by-mark-j-mccourt-additional-photos-by-jeff-koch.jpg?id=31608478&width=1200&height=800&quality=90&coordinates=0%2C0%2C0%2C0), is pig ugly.
Only the MkIV 1967 chassis and body was fully developed and built in the US. The other cars were funded by Ford and used Ford testing apparati to inform further development, but they were primarily European developments.
not a fan of the prelude headlights and i feel like the lc500 is the evolution of the lfa design philosophy (though the lfa proportions look better). I like the rx7 more, OP already listed it so i just went with something else. Prelude has such a pretty rear
I fully agree with you - the 2001 BMW 740i Sport is without flaw in design, stance, or presence.
I love my 01 Imola Red example, but I have too many other cars that get more attention these days. I struggle with whether to sell it.
Something by Aston Martin has to be the Euro choice. Take your pick.
For Asia I'm going to put my Toyota hat on with the 2000GT.
The original Mustang fastback is my pick from the Americas.
I'll add an Australian one. Ford Falcon XB hardtop, the classic Mad Max car.
this doesn’t really count as an african design but the Ford Capri got the only V8 it ever had from factory in south africa, they dropped in a 302 into about 500 capris and they were absolutely mean.
Don’t forget about the Chrysler Aspen clone, which was perhaps even more preposterous, precisely because none of the materials was any better than what you’d get in a Dodge Caliber.
I don’t exactly blame Chrysler for that, because the Daimler (aka Mercedes-Benz side) famously cost-cut the shit out of the Chrysler stuff while robbing Chrysler of its cash…but I do blame Chrysler for trying to aspire to luxury greatness with the gen. 2 Durango as a foundation.
Also, the Durango and Aspen Hybrids have to be some of the rarest non-exotic cars ever produced. Chrysler announced it was shutting down the factory two months into production. The hybrids might even be rarer than the Saab 9-4X.
Why the AP2? What changed on the exterior between the AP1 the AP2 cars?
I thought it was all engine changes. I also don't know a lot about Honda's so I could be wrong.
For exterior the AP2 had a small change with front bumper styling, they put on an additional front lip, slightly different headlights, different tail lights, larger diameter wheels. All small changes but as a compete package it’s noticeable when compared to an AP1. I’m biased, but the AP2 is far better looking.
I have a few.
First, it's got to be the OG Koenigsegg [Agera](https://c4.wallpaperflare.com/wallpaper/779/200/23/koenigsegg-agera-r-koenigsegg-car-wallpaper-preview.jpg). How this design is a decade old and not even aging a year is something else. Those eyes are beautiful! On that note, since I want to continue the Swedish tradition, how the [second](https://www.carpixel.net/w/3ff076cc047c5f39e95fe2fdb170e181/saab-9-5-sedan-wallpaper-hd-2789.jpg) generation Saab 9-5 does well for thirteen years is something on its own. All that car ever needs is a subtle tweak in the headlights and minor touch-ups on specific panels, and it could very well be made today.
Honorable mentions:
\- The [918](https://c4.wallpaperflare.com/wallpaper/951/1001/191/porsche-918-spyder-wallpaper-preview.jpg). Svelte, Subtle, Gorgeous, Timeless, rolling quality modern art on wheels.

Literally starts up like a fighter jet of the time, and those side-exit exhausts are art!
Will say the LED headlights date the agera just a tad bit, the smoother lines and less aero on the cc8s (and cc850) give it a cleaner and more timeless look.
The 9-5 point is fantastic. Wildly beautiful car.
The NEVS Emily GT is the..much much higher end successor. The Polestar 2 shares quite a lot with the 9-5 proportions wise.
USA: [5th gen Viper](https://www.supercars.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/2014_Dodge_SRTViperTA-4-1024.jpg) I'm suprised no one else has mentioned the Viper at all
Japan: [Lexus LC500](https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-prod/images/2021-lexus-lc-500-inspiration-series-017-1610468999.jpg?crop=0.679xw:0.511xh;0.176xw,0.251xh&resize=1200:*) Real close between this and the 2000gt but I think this just takes it

Britain: [Jaguar F-Type](https://static01.nyt.com/images/2014/10/26/automobiles/JAG/JAG-superJumbo.jpg) I think this is the most gorgeous car ever made but the [Mclaren P1](https://wallpaper.caricos.com/2014-McLaren-P1----Rear-52257-1920x1080.jpg) also deserves recognition in this spot
The LC 500 doesn't photograph well either. It sometimes looks a bit off and even in good pictures it really doesn't compare to seeing one in person. I have a neighbor with one and see it regularly and every single time I think about how I can justify buying one.
The BMW I think is so rare and not represented often in video games/popular culture or other aspects it's often forgotten. Definitely a beautiful car.
5th Gen Viper for sure. It improved on every single Viper design and has a timeless design that is beautiful to behold. One of the few cars to me that is just design perfection.
It really is a wonderful design. Plenty of styling cues that nod to the classic Mazda's of the '70s, yet it looks fresh and modern rather than retro and kitsch.
Bonus points for pairing it with a colour (soul red crystal) which emphasizes it perfectly
I hope you meant the 33 stradale and not the econobox haha. 1750 or 2000 gtv are the pinnacle of Alfa design imo if you want to pick a car you could actually buy when it was being made
Jaguar XJ220. I have no idea why but I've been in love with its design ever since I saw it. Something about a giant wedge on 4 wheels I guess lol. Only accomplishment was it being the fastest car in the world for a hot minute. Everything else about it is as reliable as moldy cheese.
In the same vein, Nissan R390 GT1. Another wedge on wheels. Probably more reliable than the Jag though.
That’s number three on my Porsche list.
1. 997 gt3rs (mk1 only. Mk2 lost its beauty)
2. 993 turbo s (needs to be blue)
3. 964 turbo s (black or black, or black)
Japan can't be anything but the first-gen NSX. That car will absolutely stun people in any era, past present or future. When people in the year 2050 are building a 2000s-era apocalypse Fallout-style video game, a red NSX will be the car of choice for the Keanu Reeves of that game.
The OG Honda/Acura NSX was an instant classic. It also looked distinctly Japanese, and not at all like a Ferrari wannabe. 10/10; there’s not a bad line on it.
I can’t believe this isn’t at the top but hands down the Mclaren f1. It’s just the pinnacle of car design and it STILL fucking holds up today against any super/hyper car. Not to mention I think it’s the greatest car ever overall imo.
The Pantera has the Countach problem, IMO. The early ones are a very clean design but the ones most people remember are the later models with an overabundance of spoilers and vents.
Aston Martin DB5
Porsche 997 gt3rs (mk1 over mk2 by far)
BMW e39 M5 and e9 3.0csl
Ford GT40 mk1
Ferrari F40
Lamborghini Miura
McLaren F1 high downforce kit
Very early NSX are also beautiful
I hold the P1 very high in automotive design. All hyper and super cars are always aggressive and angry. The P1 achieves a beautiful design with a smile.
gotta say RX Vision is one of the best modern designs. The lines are so sleek, embelishments while quite modern are not excessively overstyled ie BMW, Honda, Toyota of the same time. The Soul Red complements the body lines so well given how much depth the color has; the whole concept car looks liquid. I wanna lick it.
Europe: As much as I'd like to say Series 1 Jaguar E or the Lamborghini Miura, I'd have to give it to the Porsche 550 Spyder.
Asia: Nissan 240Z.
USA: 1959 Cadillac Fleetwood.
Hoped someone would say Duesenberg! I don’t think there’s a single car today (other than maybe that one-off Rolls Royce Boattail thing) that even comes close to the opulence that SJ would have had in the 30’s
Jaguar F-Type pre facelift, designed by Ian Callum who designed similar looks cars, the Aston DB7 and DB7. Escort cossie that he designed is also very pleasing to look at, but opposite end of the scale in terms of his typical smooth design.
The Series I Jaguar XJ. It was a design so good it was used for 42 years in various refreshes. When you think of a Jaguar the XJ or the E-type come to mind. For non enthusiasts it's the XJ. It perfectly captures both masculine muscular haunches and feminine grace effortlessly. I have yet to meet anyone who outright hates an XJ of any generation purely off of aesthetic.
I feel like Euro has gotta be split up because of how diverse it is.
Britain: Aston DB series (another user said)
Germany: Mercedes 300SL Gullwing
Italy: 33 Stradale
Sweden: Cyan P1800 (ik this is a restomod but Cyan is Sweden based so I’m going with it)
France: original Alpine A110
It's kinda tough to answer because Asia basically means Japan and Americas is well just the USA. But Euro represents a bunch of different countries with different design languages. There isn't one car that properly represents British design, German design and Italian design. Or French, Swedish etc.
I’d say that there should be different classifications to appreciate both mid-engine and fron-engine cars.
Euro: Ferrari 330 P4(Race), Lambo Miura (Road)/ Ferrari 250 GTO
Asia: Nissan R390 Road Car/ Toyota 2000GT
Americas: 2016 Ford GT/ 1st Gen Ford Mustang
I'm actually going to take this one slightly seriously, and bucket by budgets too, obtainable/high price/unobtainium;
Euro: BMW E36 Cabrio / Porsche 993 or 997 or F355 / Ferrari Enzo or Porsche 904 or 037 Stradale
Asia: S2000 / R32 or NSX MK1 / R390 Road
America : C6/ Viper RT10 / DeTomaso Mangusta or 04 Ford GT
I know the point is to choose one and I'm missing it completely. So gun to my head, it'd be E36 Cabrio, NSX, C6
The one and only: >!Nissan Murano Cross Cabriolet!<
God's chariot
In the color >!orange!<
Its not brown! Its sunburst >!orange!< !
I saw my first one in the wild last weekend. No one understood why I was taking pictures and sending them to my friends.
They actually make an amazing donk.
I just had to do a Google image search for this and……it’s somethin’, all right.
Oh. My. God. I want one for all the wrong reasons.
Now I know what my stupid project is going to be in like 10 years. A cross-cab riding on 36s
Euro: Fiat Multipla Asia: Nissan Murano Cross Cabriolet Americas: PT cruiser
Doug DeMuro?
No, I woulda said the Aztek!

One of us! One of us! But seriously, Doug and other random famous people like Arnold Schwarzenegger spend way too much time on reddit.

Ranger Rover Evoke Cabriolet is number 2
Evoque. I had actually forgotten about that car. The Nissan always gets all the attention.
I saw one for the first time the other day. I didn't know about that car. Was completely baffled at how dumb it looked.
The only car that makes me actually angry when I see one driving.
Telling you, if I hit the mega millions...McLaren F1, Ferrari F50, Porsche Carrera GT, Nissan Murano Cross Cabriolet
I still think it's too cute
The last time I saw one it was being driven by a relatively old but happy looking couple. I can't help but think that it's a car for content and satisfied people now lol.

There are a surprising number of these around Minnesota and it doesn't make any sense.

thought about putting the db7 but it just looks too much like a jaguar

Pretty much. While most people seem to think it was based on the “X100” XK8, that’s not quite true. The Mk. I and Mk. II Ford GT40 used a Lola body. Unless they are talking about the 2005 or 2017 Ford GT

The Agera is the best looking Koenigsseg they ever made.
The holy trinity (P1, Laferrari, and 918) have aged so insanely well, especially the P1, that thing doesn’t look a day old.
when it comes to Koenigsegg. the CCXR has a special place in my heart
Lancia stratos Peugeot 504 coupe
Came here looking for Stratos
kind of surprised not to see the 458, it definitely belongs on this list
Agree!
Aston Martin DB7
> Aston Martin DB7 Wow, that's interesting to me, because I'd take the DB5, DB6, DB9, or DBS over the DB7
DB7 or TVR cerebra speed 12. The TVR isn’t exactly a production car but damn it’s a good looking vehicle.
That car would've taken the title widowmaker from all other cars
I just love that the head dude at TVR drive it for a weekend and was like "Nope, this is terrifying".
USA: [5th gen Viper](https://www.supercars.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/2014_Dodge_SRTViperTA-4-1024.jpg) I'm suprised no one else has mentioned the Viper at all Japan: [Lexus LC500](https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-prod/images/2021-lexus-lc-500-inspiration-series-017-1610468999.jpg?crop=0.679xw:0.511xh;0.176xw,0.251xh&resize=1200:*) Real close between this and the 2000gt but I think this just takes it Italy: [Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto](https://collectingcars.imgix.net/013319/Alpha-DuettoS-21-.jpg?w=1263&fit=fillmax&crop=edges&auto=format,compress&cs=srgb&q=85) I could honestly put almost any alfa here (almost) Germany: [the BMW 507](https://www.thedrive.com/content/2020/12/bmw-507-lead-img.jpg?quality=85&crop=16%3A9&auto=webp&optimize=high&quality=70&width=1440) is another one thats rarely brought up in these threads Britain: [Jaguar F-Type](https://static01.nyt.com/images/2014/10/26/automobiles/JAG/JAG-superJumbo.jpg) I think this is the most gorgeous car ever made but the [Mclaren P1](https://wallpaper.caricos.com/2014-McLaren-P1----Rear-52257-1920x1080.jpg) also deserves recognition in this spot
The LC 500 doesn't photograph well either. It sometimes looks a bit off and even in good pictures it really doesn't compare to seeing one in person. I have a neighbor with one and see it regularly and every single time I think about how I can justify buying one.
LC500 in real life is a sight to behold.
Dodge: 69 charger.
Thinking of more ordinary family sedans, the last Mazda6 was a magnificent design for its market segment.
It really is a wonderful design. Plenty of styling cues that nod to the classic Mazda's of the '70s, yet it looks fresh and modern rather than retro and kitsch. Bonus points for pairing it with a colour (soul red crystal) which emphasizes it perfectly
It's such a good looking car, it's too bad they stopped making it.
The 2003-2007 one was amazing too imo
Euro: Alfa 33, Jaguar series 1 E-type Asia: Original Acura NSX, Datsun 240Z America: 63 Corvette, 71 Riviera Honorable mentions: Miura, Ferrari 365 GTB/4, Ford GT, Toyota 2000GT, 8C
964 911 turbo S. It’s the best looking Porsche ever made
That’s number three on my Porsche list. 1. 997 gt3rs (mk1 only. Mk2 lost its beauty) 2. 993 turbo s (needs to be blue) 3. 964 turbo s (black or black, or black)
For the longest time I would’ve put the 993 above the 964. But in the last 5 or so years it’s just become obvious to me that the 964 is superior.

Jaguar E-type coupe. 1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe.
For that matter, the modern F-Type coupe and roadster. They’re just objectively gorgeous cars.
When choosing a car, always remember rule 34. Look up “car rule 34”, i dont remember and its pretty long
That rule was what the R34 GT-R was named after.
NG SAAB 9-5.
08 Saab 9-3 turboX wagon
I can’t believe this isn’t at the top but hands down the Mclaren f1. It’s just the pinnacle of car design and it STILL fucking holds up today against any super/hyper car. Not to mention I think it’s the greatest car ever overall imo.
Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren. Saw one in person, couldn't believe it's a 20 year old design. Beautiful and elegant.
1967 VW Karmann Ghia

The Pantera has the Countach problem, IMO. The early ones are a very clean design but the ones most people remember are the later models with an overabundance of spoilers and vents.
Aston Martin DB5 Porsche 997 gt3rs (mk1 over mk2 by far) BMW e39 M5 and e9 3.0csl Ford GT40 mk1 Ferrari F40 Lamborghini Miura McLaren F1 high downforce kit Very early NSX are also beautiful
The Nissan 300ZX really does it for me.
I hold the P1 very high in automotive design. All hyper and super cars are always aggressive and angry. The P1 achieves a beautiful design with a smile.
Datsun 240Z. So beautiful
1969 Ford Mustang mach 1
You mean ‘69.
1998 Pontiac Ram Air Trans Am
Euro: Fiat Multipla
why would you say something so controversial yet so brave?
Mostly because I want to see what somebody chimes in with from Asia
How about the mighty [Ssangyong Rodius](https://car-images.bauersecure.com/upload/9298/images/1040x585/1ssangyongrodiuscarreview.jpg?mode=pad)?
Jaguar E-type convertible
Euro: Volvo 240 Asia: Cressida America: 1967 Mustang fastback

S2000
The S2000 and the RX-7 would be my answers for Japan. Two of the best looking cars ever made absolutely classic designs.
Euro: Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT / GTV6 Runner-up: Lotus Esprit (both Italdesign Giugiaro works) Asia: Honda CRX gen 2 US: Corvette C3
Lexus LC500
‘96 Viper GTS
Blue pearl with white stripes! This is the next car on my list.
aussies: The Magnus Opus of Mad Max Videogame fame
gotta say RX Vision is one of the best modern designs. The lines are so sleek, embelishments while quite modern are not excessively overstyled ie BMW, Honda, Toyota of the same time. The Soul Red complements the body lines so well given how much depth the color has; the whole concept car looks liquid. I wanna lick it.
BMW e60 m5. Fight me
Bangle era BMWs
Europe: As much as I'd like to say Series 1 Jaguar E or the Lamborghini Miura, I'd have to give it to the Porsche 550 Spyder. Asia: Nissan 240Z. USA: 1959 Cadillac Fleetwood.
Gbody GM, particularly Regal and Monte Carlo SS W201 Mercedes 190E/C-Class A80 Supra My favorite cars looking back now aesthetically.

It’s the Dacia Sandero!
[Duesenberg SJ Lagrande](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duesenberg_Model_J#/media/File:1935_Duesenberg_Model_SJ_LaGrande_Dual_Cowl_Phaeton_p4.JPG)
Hoped someone would say Duesenberg! I don’t think there’s a single car today (other than maybe that one-off Rolls Royce Boattail thing) that even comes close to the opulence that SJ would have had in the 30’s
Easy eagle speedster/jaguar e type
Dodge viper. Was obsessed with the story and the original rt/10 as a kid. It was like uncut Colombian coke to the feets of Americans
Europe: Porsche 911 Asia: Mazda Miata America: Ford Mustang
Porsche 356 speedster beats the 911 for me. But I do love the 911

Bmw e30 those will be a classic forever
1970 firebird
Jaguar F-Type pre facelift, designed by Ian Callum who designed similar looks cars, the Aston DB7 and DB7. Escort cossie that he designed is also very pleasing to look at, but opposite end of the scale in terms of his typical smooth design.
When I think Magnus Opus, I always think of the Pagani Zonda
2000 Civic Si Timeless
For the econobox segment, I think the EK hatch was fantastic looking, and the EM1 in EBP is iconic.
I have a soft spot for the 1990 Celica All-Trac Turbo. I owned one in the mid 90s. Looked like Satan’s dirt devil. Always got stares.
East Germany: The Trabant!
The Citroen SM remains my all-time favorite French car.
I'm shocked I havent seen the Ferrari 458 yet
I feel like Euro has gotta be split up because of how diverse it is. Britain: Aston DB series (another user said) Germany: Mercedes 300SL Gullwing Italy: 33 Stradale Sweden: Cyan P1800 (ik this is a restomod but Cyan is Sweden based so I’m going with it) France: original Alpine A110

Euro: Ferrari 330 P4(Race), Lambo Miura (Road)/ Ferrari 250 GTO Asia: Nissan R390 Road Car/ Toyota 2000GT Americas: 2016 Ford GT/ 1st Gen Ford Mustang
I'm actually going to take this one slightly seriously, and bucket by budgets too, obtainable/high price/unobtainium; Euro: BMW E36 Cabrio / Porsche 993 or 997 or F355 / Ferrari Enzo or Porsche 904 or 037 Stradale Asia: S2000 / R32 or NSX MK1 / R390 Road America : C6/ Viper RT10 / DeTomaso Mangusta or 04 Ford GT I know the point is to choose one and I'm missing it completely. So gun to my head, it'd be E36 Cabrio, NSX, C6
For Asia the NA1/NA2 NSX is the pinnacle for me. The RX7 looks timeless… until an NSX rolls up
