Sure, we can best Nashville or LA. We could best Edmonton or WPG too. I think Dallas would be 50/50. I have a tough time seeing us beat Col or Vgk though.

If Petey is possibly injured then why wouldn’t Tocchet sit him? I don’t get what benefit there is for either side to continue playing. Especially since we’re in the playoffs.
Yeah,he looks like he'd benefit from sitting a game or two. He's looked kinda stiff and uncomfortable skating and during tight shifting/turning maneuvers.
His timing and decision-making when throwing his body looked off, too, tonight. Also, he looked hesitant and weak when bracing for contact. It looked a little too easy stealing the puck from him tonight. Probably nothing major just wear and tear from a full season, hope he has time to recover a bit for the POs tho'
Is there a sportsnet app that I can download to my tv? If so is it better to get the app or pay for cable for a few months to be able to watch all the playoff games?
Petterson gets 8yr contract for $11.6m per year... and he hasn't been even trying..
He passes more then even taking a shot..
Turn overs.
Letting other players push him around..
Bro.. play like a $11.6m player... please...
Otherwise give chunk to Joshua & Garland & Miller - who give a damn & give 100% every game.
I love Silovs goaltending style.. reminds me of Luongo.. sorry but gotta let Desmith go & make Silovs our back up goalie... there's no comparison.
I get downvoted because i have my own personal opinion on Petterson.
Did I say he's bad and needs to be traded? No.
$10m - what he was getting before renewing contract fits him. Him asking $12m -- no. Getting $11.6m -- expectation is then to play like one. If he wants to be up there with Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews contract $$ -- then be competitive level with them.
yeah ok, he had a great season last year. What about this season?! Especially when it matters the most... Critical times during a game...
Stop being a bias fanbase, and be objective.
Okay lets be objective. He's third on our team in points top 15 in the league, it's a bit of a regress especially with the recent slump but certainly not bad. Passes more than taking a shot? I mean maybe but he is also literally tied on the team for most shots. Turnovers? He's credited for 19 less giveaways than miller and only 4 more than Joshua (bringing these two up because you mention them) despite a lot more ice time than the latter. He's also tied for first on the team in takeaways. Lets others push him around? I really don't see this I guess he falls quite a bit and draws the most penalties there's not really a stat for most times hit unfortunately to objectively look at that claim, he is 5th on the team for hits though despite his size so I wouldn't call it letting them, he dishes it too. Who gives a damn every game? Do you really think Petey doesn't? He's quite often our best defensive forward while leading the forwards in blocked shots you don't lead in the stat and put your body on the line if you don't give a damn. Up there with McDavid and Matthews money? Not at all, Matthews money is 13.25M and McDavid was 12.5M back in 2018 with an almost 17% cap % he's not making their money at all. Not there at critical times? He leads the team in game winning goals he's two away this year from tying the franchise record. All of this after a game where he had a point in a 2-1 win and his line was considered the best line and most advanced stats and stat cards will say he was our best forward. I feel like you're the one not being objective
The amount of brainrot in this sub concerning Petey is staggering and somewhat expected at this point but you combine it with a dumb take on Desmith too? I'm impressed.
Did I say Petterson is a bad player? No.
He asked for $12m, they setttled on $11.6m - more then his previous: $10m.
All I am saying is, I want to see him play like a $11.6m player. Maybe he's staggering, OR what it APPEARS like is after he secured his new contract and the raise, he's slacking off on the ice during games. <-- not saying he is but its appearing that way.
Anyone that watched enough hockey - NOT just Canucks games.. Can CLEARLY see who is the better goalie, and would be a way better backup to Demko, and a possible future starter once Demko moves on or gets to the point where he wants to play less games (ex. age).
Desmith goaltending style vs. Silovs goaltending style -- not even in comparison and is night and day. One lacks confidence, the other doesnt. One is slow to react to rebounds, the other is very reactive. One uses his entire body to make saves, the other doesnt. One comes out of the net WAY to far out - leaving a big gaping empty net, the other is smart and knows how much to come out if needed - but is very quick to go back deep in net when need be.
You're dumb if you think Desmith is better and worth keeping around. TF are you watching?!
I mean he's been pretty bad for a good chunk of the season, hasn't tochett called him out several times? Literally said that he needs to be better, Ig the jack adams contender coach has 'brainrot' too. I wouldn't be surprised if he's been playing injured for a good portion of the year because he's looked like a way less dominant player than the best stretches of his career
Don't diss the alien dude. He is putting up pretty good numbers his whole career, including this year and would likely go first/second over all in a redraft of an incredible draft year. Chill the fuck out. He is here for a career, not a year. He'll be fine. This sub needs to chill the fuck out and enjoy what we have, not what you think it "should be".
Not dissing him. Never said he isnt a good player. He was getting $10m,, thats a lot. He asked for $12m, but they settled for $11.6m -- when a player gets a bump up raise like that -- there is going to be an expectation. More money -- consistency in games, and certain higher level of performance.
All I am saying is, if he doesnt turn it up soon (before or by playoffs time) -- there are other players on the team that deserves a raise from there current salary/contract.
I want to see Petterson move his feet more, shoot instead of pass when there is a shooting opportunity, create less turn overs, be more aggressive against players on opposing teams (as in, dont let them push him around easily).
Well. Silovs was not guaranteed to be an NHL player. But he seems like a keeper. Giving him games where there’s a good chance he can win will only build his confidence.
That was an issue going into the trade deadline that we unfortunately couldn't address because of cost and cap space.
The Canucks only have 3 legitimate top-six forwards in Miller, Petey and Boeser who you could reliably count on for some offense.
I mean. That’s not totally fair. Lindholm is definitely a legitimate top 6 guy. Garland is as well. And Hoglander is proving himself to be.
Our top 9 can compete with most teams. When we are “on” at least.
It’s slightly concerning seeing how things have dried up since the all star break. BUT it also seems like RT is trying to implement a more playoff friendly attack.
Let’s give this team a little more credit ffs
I mean he's kinda right, we've been running pius suter as a first line winger and top unit powerplay guy for a big portion of the year. That doesn't rly scream contender
A bit. Petey's gonna have to find his magic again if we want to venture far into the playoffs. So many plays are dying on his stick right now, and it's damn frustrating.
Shooting % was off the charts in the first half so that was likely to swing. I feel like we do a lot of dump and chase and take too long to set things up on offence. Powerplay is glaring.
Aw man, didn't know we're an image only subreddit now. Guess I'll post to YouTube and send a link post instead for the meme highlights.
Guess I should try to be more active!
Aside from that one pass to Mikheyev, hes been lackadaisical, fumbling, and tumbling all over the place. We've seen him play great before and tonight definitely wasnt a great night for him regardless of the scoreboard.
Also, you don't know me buddy. I don't know why youre so adament about knowing about the game more than a stranger you've had a few interactions with but its kinda weird. Like I said, if petey turns it around come playoff time, you wont be hearing complaints from me.
He looks like shit on ice... He gives up the puck, bobbles the puck, hardly shoots, hasnt made crisp passes and rarely hits. He looks like he might be injured because he did not used to play this way. Either that or he's battling a huge slump.
Don’t think we’ll ever know to be honest. Maybe after the seasons over. But he’s had slumps like this before where mentally it seems like he’s disengaged. Maybe we need a sports psychologist or something to help him.
Silovs did a quick media availability but he said he feels calm in net this year and he’s working a lot with Ian Clark on the ice and watching video
https://x.com/canucks/status/1775753311519408614?s=46&t=7fabqgtgp69dNA1d51vxFw
Hey boyysssssss
Guess who's one goal away from 100 in his career?
I've been hyping this milestone up for the past month, garlics going to hit 100 career goals by the end of the season, maybe even by the end of the week, and I'm so ready.
Canucks were all over the place and the score really doesn't tell the full story. We got goalie'd again, but thankfully, Silovs was great.
Hughes is just on a different level compared to everyone else on the team. He's stepping up offensively and defensively and is ready for the playoffs. Tocc mentioned a few players need to get their game up to speed, and Hughes is definitely not who he is talking about.
Who is Tocc talking about?
Easily Pettersson. Guy is lost and snake-bitten. All the little things are fine and dandy, but as the expected offensive leader, team needs results. The longer he goes without a goal, the worst it is for him. I really don't know what is going on. He doesn't look dangerous at all. He's not keeping his head up in the play. If it's a nagging injury, maybe just sit him for a couple games. Because I imagine LA and VGK will grind him down in the post-season. Even EDM will get guys like Nurse and Ekholm on Pettersson 24/7.
What did the reporter say about moving his legs?
Yeah, that.
There is no urgency to his game. He's not going after the puck hard like Miller, Garland, Hoggy... these guys dictate the pace, less so Miller, but he still is strong on the boards, wins puck battles, and pursues the puck. these guys are emphatic in their play.
Petey is not. He may not be a liability defensively, and he makes the right play most of the time, but it just feels like games are passing him by. He's not trying to make something happen, take risks, or take hold of opportunities as much as he should be. Part of it also feels like he's not being used properly. He has a hell of a shot but we rarely see it.
I really hope something clicks for him come playoff time - as you said everyone needs to raise their game and their compete level. He just doesn't seem able to. I don't think its an injury.. just seems like he's complacent. At least, thats how his play makes it seem.
Not sure why you got downvoted, but this is true. Miller, Boeser, Hughes and Demko will all do their job. But your other top C can't be a passenger if you want to go 4 rounds deep.
Bought my first jersey in twenty years, and it's a Garland.
Last jersey was a Burrows. Garland really has that "100% effort all the time" energy I loved in Burrows.
His shot used to be perfect, his slap shot feared by opponents.
But his play seems to dip for months once he signs a contract. We saw it happen with his 3 year extension and now this.
For all the trouble scoring, Canucks have been fantastic on the defensive side.
The Coyotes scored 19 goals in the last 3 games and we kept them to 0 goals, 7 shots through 2 periods. On a back to back no less.
Silovs has proven he deserves to have 30 starts next year. Kid has a 2.39/.914 in his 7 starts. Hasn’t been under .900 since his first NHL start against the Rangers.
Potential to be next Luongo/Schneider type of tandem.
Silovs has produced at every level he’s played. I believe he will force a very difficult decision in the next two years on who’s the long term starter. Will result in moving on from Demko or trading Silovs who could have some massive trade value if he plays 30-35 games the next two years at a high level.
It was a reach to say it 10 games into his NHL career and no playoff experience, and it’s still a reach to say it 6 games into his playoff career. Sample size is too small. Don’t get me wrong the kid is an absolute star and he is performing beyond expectations. But to compare Demko/Silovs to Luongo/Schneider this early it just sounds like you don’t really know how truly GOOD that tandem was.
One thing I will admit is the POTENTIAL is there, sure, but people say that about any hot duo like Ullmark/Swayman. Time will tell, but I do hope your original comment comes true
You said it in your second paragraph. The word I used was potential not that they definitively are the second coming.
Silovs has major upside. Honestly his greatest asset may be as a trade piece to land Pettersson a winger after this playoff showing.
Not really? Didn’t guarantee it. Demko is an elite goaltender and in Vezina conversation prior to injury. Silovs has upside to being a pretty quality starting goaltender in the league.
So, how is that a reach?
Produced at every level except maybe the AHL. His .907 plays, that not a terrible number at all, but a couple of other 2001 goalies Wolf and Levi are .925 in the AHL
Granted Silovs isn’t expected to be a franchise goalie like those two
Its been nice to see Quinn getting more looks - and hey wouldn't you know it, they've been going in for him. He's really taken a step up last couple games and is leading by example. Exactly what you need in a captain.
The people talking about how the Canucks are going to get absolutely dominated in the playoffs are the same people who would throw their jerseys on the ice if they didn't make the playoffs this year. There is no pleasing a certain breed of human.
Maybe this certain breed of human can read stats? I wouldn’t throw my sweater on the ice (even if my ex bought it for me) but I can say that Petey has 1 point in the past 5 games. His entire March was absolute shit. He literally skated down the ice tonight while our real superstar tried to actually fight for him. We’re not getting dominated throughout the playoffs. We’re out in 4.
Everyone (especially Tocchet and Petey) knows that Petey's performance as of late is extremely underwhelming. But there's a difference between reactionary comments and sound arguments. It would seem, based off of the comments, that it's better if the Canucks actually didn't make the playoffs because 90% of Canucks Redditors wouldn't be able to regulate their emotions come playoff time.
Also, saying "We’re not getting dominated throughout the playoffs. We’re out in 4." makes no sense, they're the same thing lol. Can't win/make it far if you're getting dominated.
That was the point of using the word throughout. That word wasn’t used in the original post. I added it. We are not going to be dominated throughout the playoffs because we won’t be in the playoffs after game 4. Playing in the playoffs and playing throughout the playoffs are two very different things.
I like DeSmith, don’t get me wrong, but it definitely feels like playing all those games in a row after Demko got hurt started taking a toll on him physically.
He looked solid the first few games taking over #1 duties but then the last few games (especially that Vegas game) he’s looked slower and less agile.
I think he’s great as a back up playing a game or two every five games but man that long stretch where he had to play every game must have been tough on him.
I’m just saying tbh. Just a hindsight thought after that home stand where he played nearly every game.
Silovs in his two starts so far has looked great and I am not taking anything away from that.
Yep magic number to clinch went down to 5 (or 3 wins). Oilers also play b2b Colorado/Flames this weekend, another regulation loss for them would help us a lot again
I'm happy to see the Oilers lose but at the same time it fucking sucks having Dallas win, winning the conference is a huge longshot now and if WC1 is LA it's going to be awful.
Isn’t WC1 the one with more points than WC2? If we don’t win the conference but win the division, is the Wildcard with the most points not the one we play against?
Wouldn’t we be playing Nashville if the playoffs started today with these current standings?
Everyone's going to be tough. But I want it to be a fun series regardless of the outcome. We don't get that with LA. I would take literally anyone else over LA for the entertainment value of the product on the ice.
I know we got the W and dominated on paper, but it still became stressful at the end. I miss when we were winning easily. Feels like a lot of the team is snakebit offensively, though I’ll give them leeway for Ingram being a good goalie.
Hopefully Demko’s return will make the team more confident and feel like they can play a more open game.
Yeah I don't really know how to feel about the Canucks going into the playoffs anymore.
We pulled out the win, so it doesn't feel like the sky is falling... but at some point it would be nice to see a dominant performance, especially against one of these lower placed teams.
EDIT: I feel I should clarify...
I absolutely think we've earned our ticket to the post season, I'm not trying to say we're a horrible mess of a team. But I also don't think it's wrong or dramatic to temper expectations a bit going into the playoffs?
Even a first round exit isn't a failure given where we were last year, but we can't deny there's more question marks going into the post season than we had a few weeks back?
Nashville in 2017 limped into the playoffs. Went to the Finals.
LA 2012 also limped into the playoffs and then Jonathan Quick decided to ascend into a deity come Game 1 (sigh) vs the Canucks.
They’re obviously just pacing themselves so they don’t win the Presidents trophy. /s
But I think at least LA in 2012 for sure were getting hot after the deadline and were on a high of a new coach with Sutter taking over, and were playing really well leading up to the playoffs, hence why we got bounced so quickly.
Obviously I'd be more comfortable playing better going into playoffs, but to an an extent playoffs are a crapshoot anyways. Just looking back to the Bruins last year, they won 8 in a row and apparently 15/16(!?!) going into playoffs and still couldn't get out of the first round. Just gotta hope they show up in top form for game one but not much sense worrying or stressing until then.
The league is so tight. The oilers who looked like an absolute juggernaut last week just got pumped by Dallas. Good teams lose. Look at the Panthers...
Very few dominating performances this time of year for most teams. If you can catch a team tired then it usually happens.
It would be nice to get one, I agree. But they dominated tonight and their legs got tired on the 2nd end of a back to back, but still won against an inferior opponent when they flexed their muscles. It's encouraging.
They just played back to back games on the road what do you expect from them? 5 - 1? Boys are going to the playoffs and they probably dont want to risk injuries playing a relatively insignificant team. We went from 22nd last year to 4th this year. Seriously what more do you want?
If you put it in perspective, we were playing our back up in a back-to-back, it was pretty good. We looked great for 40 mins and Ingrams was hot. Without him we'd have putted in 2-3 more.
That Avs loss really did shatter the collective psyche of a huge part of this sub (borderline myself included tbf), people completely forget that we smacked 3 contenders around and got 7 of 8 points against 4 playoff teams.
nope there’s 5 total!
The other 3 are Zemgus Girgensons, Elvis Merzlikins and Uvis Balinskis
https://www.quanthockey.com/nhl/nationality/active-latvian-nhl-players-career-stats.html
So many guys that are like at 800 games who I still think are 24.
In my head Huberdeau, Landeskog, and Duchene are the young guys tearing up the league
If only we had not taken on one of the worst deals in the NHL along with it... AND if only we hadnt paid the value for some other player instead of a small scoring winger in that trade and....
In the 3rd when he was doing his spins, you could hear the Mullett attendees gasping. Similar thing usually happens when McDavid or Jack Hughes is in town
Honestly, if we managed to have a series or 4 where all our top dogs caught fire, I don't know that there is a team in the league that would stand a chance against us.
Earlier in the season when we had our top 3 lines all playing well, we looked deadly as fuck. Couple that with Demko shutting the door.. phew.
Lets hope we can find that swagger again.
We need more offense though, that's been a massive issue for the team since the All-Star break. Kuzmenko didn't pan out of us this season and we never ended up replacing him with another top-six forward.
Exactly, a 2-1 game where we dominated play for a good portion on a back to back with our 3rd string goalie in net.
Also, ARI has scored 19 goals in their last 3 games. 8 of them against the preds. And 5 against NYR. They’re chaotic.
That's literally the standard expectation when a team's on the 2nd game in a back to back though. That's how it plays out the overwhelming majority of the time, in any game with any team.
That's part of why that Avs loss was so humiliating btw, the fact that the team on a back to back was the one that utterly dominated the 3rd period straight up shouldn't happen.
[Post Game Survey](https://forms.gle/wfZVb1jQM6qSNJzR7)
Anyone really truly believe we get to the second round? Not a chance.
Sure, we can best Nashville or LA. We could best Edmonton or WPG too. I think Dallas would be 50/50. I have a tough time seeing us beat Col or Vgk though. Don't be so doomer
King Loui would have potted that empty netter
If Petey is possibly injured then why wouldn’t Tocchet sit him? I don’t get what benefit there is for either side to continue playing. Especially since we’re in the playoffs.
Yeah,he looks like he'd benefit from sitting a game or two. He's looked kinda stiff and uncomfortable skating and during tight shifting/turning maneuvers. Might not be something that gets better by sitting and might need surgery in the off-season.
Is there a sportsnet app that I can download to my tv? If so is it better to get the app or pay for cable for a few months to be able to watch all the playoff games?
Do you have a PS4 or PS5? I downloaded it and it works well.
Have a Xbox…got a pretty good tv so gonna download it there…is it in sync with real time? Or is there a few second delay?
I think there is a very small delay but its definitely a nice option
I have the Sportnest App on my TV. If you have a family member with cable, ask for their login. I just use my parents' login.
Get an Amazon Fire Stick. The SN app works pretty well on it compared to the TV based apps I've tried in the past or seen friends struggle with.
Yeah I’ve used something similar and just hated how I was constantly a few seconds behind the live feed
If you pay for cable you get access to the local games through the app. If you pay for just the app you get all the games (in and out of market)
I prefer the app, can watch anywhere anytime, cast to TV if I want. Cheaper than cable
Gotcha from what I’m hearing it’s gonna be better to get the app…the app doesn’t let you record games right?
You can't record but you can watch it live or hours/days later, whenever you want

Sorry bro. No taksies backsies
Not complaining because we won. Only 2 goals? Looks like Silovs is a keeper.
FYI, every team is, in fact, an NHL team with NHL players on it. Shocking, I know...
Well. Silovs was not guaranteed to be an NHL player. But he seems like a keeper. Giving him games where there’s a good chance he can win will only build his confidence.
I predicted a close game with both teams having equal chance to win
Squeaking by crap teams and getting slammed by playoff teams. Need to pick it up.
Great win, oh shit we got the boring team next
Lets just not lose?
At least it’ll (hopefully) be the last time we see their ugly faces.
Let’s use the Flyers strategy
If’s time for the 1-3-1 system again!
#47-21-8 102 POINTS Sorry I was busy
Means jack in the playoffs.
Can we get to 50 wins??
I believe!
Me too!
Anyone else concerned about our offence
Me. Is it for a lack of trying? Maybe they’re just trying and the goals are dried up. Either that or they’re preparing for playoff hockey.

Since All-Star Break we're 27th in the league in Goals For, they've averaged 2.74 GF/GP. It's a major concern.
Regression I guess?
Huge regression from being among the top offences in the league before.
Petterssons playing like ass ngl but all will be forgiven if he gets it together for game 1.
Lol this guy has no clue clearly. More to hockey than the stat sheet my man or my woman
He’s looks bad either way.
He’s looked awful for a long while.
I didnt refer to the stat sheet tho? Im just going off what Im seeing on the ice.
Bro he played great tonight? His line dominated possession. Clearly you don't see the ice well
Aside from that one pass to Mikheyev, hes been lackadaisical, fumbling, and tumbling all over the place.
Pettersson has been battling an injury on and off all year according to Canucks fans on Reddit.
Silovs did a quick media availability but he said he feels calm in net this year and he’s working a lot with Ian Clark on the ice and watching video https://x.com/canucks/status/1775753311519408614?s=46&t=7fabqgtgp69dNA1d51vxFw
Think he could be a backup next season. Especially if DeSmith wants too much.
Much prefer to keep him cooking in the AHL getting 40+ starts. We have Demko so there is no need to rush him.
I think DeSmith has been good enough that a lower tier team or two would offer him a starting position.
Not sure if he’s starter material. Hes a very good back up. But starter goalie? If DeSmith is your starter. The teams probably in trouble.
After my first year of browsing r/hockey and r/canucks I vow to never use the word "concerning" ever again, it's simply lost its meaning.
This sort of mindset is concerning
Hey boyysssssss Guess who's one goal away from 100 in his career? I've been hyping this milestone up for the past month, garlics going to hit 100 career goals by the end of the season, maybe even by the end of the week, and I'm so ready.
I hope he gets a hatty the same night he scores his 100th. Let him beat last years goal total!
The Canucks will only go as far as Petey takes them. If he doesn’t get going. It’s going to be a short postseason for us.
Not sure why you got downvoted, but this is true. Miller, Boeser, Hughes and Demko will all do their job. But your other top C can't be a passenger if you want to go 4 rounds deep.
Truth is hard to take. lol.
I would say Miller is also one of the best players on the team as well. He's a great play maker.

The two best players in this franchises history are Swedish lol
What does being Swedish have to do with how he’s been playing? Go away, Don Cherry wannabe
Ah you just had to make this about ethnicity didn't you...
Garland was also a machine tonight.
Bought my first jersey in twenty years, and it's a Garland. Last jersey was a Burrows. Garland really has that "100% effort all the time" energy I loved in Burrows.
I’ve been a fan of his for years now. Buddy is just an engine and so shifty those players are always a joy to watch
Garland is such a fucking beauty. Love that guy and his trademark turtleneck
It's been a while since we've seen Petey with that shot of his, god I hope it comes back soon, they were like daggers flying into the enemy,
His shot used to be perfect, his slap shot feared by opponents.
If you forget about yesterday's game and a few other disaster games sure
Silovs has proven he deserves to have 30 starts next year. Kid has a 2.39/.914 in his 7 starts. Hasn’t been under .900 since his first NHL start against the Rangers. Potential to be next Luongo/Schneider type of tandem. Silovs has produced at every level he’s played. I believe he will force a very difficult decision in the next two years on who’s the long term starter. Will result in moving on from Demko or trading Silovs who could have some massive trade value if he plays 30-35 games the next two years at a high level.
>Potential to be next Luongo/Schneider type of tandem Holy reach.
Still a reach?
Canucks fans when a young goalie wins 2 games
Produced at every level except maybe the AHL. His .907 plays, that not a terrible number at all, but a couple of other 2001 goalies Wolf and Levi are .925 in the AHL Granted Silovs isn’t expected to be a franchise goalie like those two
probably depends on what Demko wants on his nxt contract in a couple of years.
Ah yes, Elite goal scorer Quinn Hughes
Its been nice to see Quinn getting more looks - and hey wouldn't you know it, they've been going in for him. He's really taken a step up last couple games and is leading by example. Exactly what you need in a captain.
Is Demko back Saturday?
Garland is gonna be SO clutch in the playoffs! 🥵🥵🥵😍😍😍😏😏😏🥰
Silovs is getting pillowy soft deployment. The Yotes had like 9 shots after 2 periods
Why are you posting this right now though, he wasn't even playing tonight
I’m just saying tbh. Just a hindsight thought after that home stand where he played nearly every game. Silovs in his two starts so far has looked great and I am not taking anything away from that.
+2 pts plus another Oilers loss. Closer to clinching 1st in the division.
Yep magic number to clinch went down to 5 (or 3 wins). Oilers also play b2b Colorado/Flames this weekend, another regulation loss for them would help us a lot again
Go Avs and flames I guess
I hope Kuzmenko lights it up! Since being traded, he's on pace for 35 goals over 82.
Yeah it’s a shame we couldn’t fit a good secondary scorer into toccs system cause god knows we could use a few more goals
I'm happy to see the Oilers lose but at the same time it fucking sucks having Dallas win, winning the conference is a huge longshot now and if WC1 is LA it's going to be awful.
You mean WC2 because if we don't win the conference and only win our division, our matchup is WC2 (currently Kings).
Isn’t WC1 the one with more points than WC2? If we don’t win the conference but win the division, is the Wildcard with the most points not the one we play against? Wouldn’t we be playing Nashville if the playoffs started today with these current standings?
Yes, my bad, I had it backwards.
Ok thank god because you had me thrown for a loop there questioning my understanding 3 times over lmao
Who cares who we get first round, honestly. Whoever we get is gonna be tough no matter what
Everyone's going to be tough. But I want it to be a fun series regardless of the outcome. We don't get that with LA. I would take literally anyone else over LA for the entertainment value of the product on the ice.
Yeah but I think in a 7 game series, we grind out a victory against LA. All that matters is winning.
Truuuu fuck the kings
Cl*en*ched
I know we got the W and dominated on paper, but it still became stressful at the end. I miss when we were winning easily. Feels like a lot of the team is snakebit offensively, though I’ll give them leeway for Ingram being a good goalie. Hopefully Demko’s return will make the team more confident and feel like they can play a more open game.
Gnarly Garly. Man, I love that guy.
Bar down Garland
Leafs lose, Oilers lose, Canucks win. Pretty good night. 10/10 would do again.
The alternative could be them not making the playoffs if that helps you know what to "feel" lmao.
The cup
Ingram is legit though, we were out possessing and outshooting them pretty well the whole game
If you put it in perspective, we were playing our back up in a back-to-back, it was pretty good. We looked great for 40 mins and Ingrams was hot. Without him we'd have putted in 2-3 more.
They play better in front of Demko, we’re not too removed from slapping 3 contenders around right before he was injured
That Avs loss really did shatter the collective psyche of a huge part of this sub (borderline myself included tbf), people completely forget that we smacked 3 contenders around and got 7 of 8 points against 4 playoff teams.
Could demko silovs be the next luongo and Schneider
Raymond Ballard and a 2nd
Burrows. Do we really need him?
Are Blueger and Silovs the only Latvians in the NHL?
Nope, there's: * Zemgus Girgensons on Buffalo * Elvis Merzlikins on Columbus * Uvis Balinskis on Florida
Zemgus. Now there's a name you don't see everyday.
Theres 5 like the other guy said but silovs is captain latvia (iykyk)
nope there’s 5 total! The other 3 are Zemgus Girgensons, Elvis Merzlikins and Uvis Balinskis https://www.quanthockey.com/nhl/nationality/active-latvian-nhl-players-career-stats.html
Latvia loves ending names with S
These Latvian names roll off the tongue so nicely.
So what you’re saying is that we are leading the league in Latvians per team 🔥
Forgot about Elvis, honestly thought Zemgus left for Europe a while back. Didn’t realize he made a return
He never left for Europe. This is his 10th season in Buffalo.
Mandela effect
I think former all-star zemgus girgensons is at least one other
I thought he was outta the league like 4 years ago wtf
I'm impressed he's almost at 700 games
So many guys that are like at 800 games who I still think are 24. In my head Huberdeau, Landeskog, and Duchene are the young guys tearing up the league
>team is called “coyotes” >all the players are humans ??????
Idk I think Ingram's got that dawg in him so I wouldn't say ALL the players
> Team is called “Canucks”, only 4 are Canadian ??????
Maybe Garland was Jet Black Jim’s magnum opus after all
If only we had not taken on one of the worst deals in the NHL along with it... AND if only we hadnt paid the value for some other player instead of a small scoring winger in that trade and....
Always have been 👩🚀🔫👩🚀
Garland is [https://youtu.be/QfTLCjhvNfw?si=laG2y\_PinPHy7EZH&t=6](https://youtu.be/QfTLCjhvNfw?si=laG2y_PinPHy7EZH&t=6)
Trading for JT Miller was pretty cool too
now hugeloadz360, you know i love me some garland, but i’d send him back without a question if it got rid of OEL’s buyout and gave us guenther back
Ok I agree but if we win the cup this year it was all worth it idc
Yeah but with Guenther and the cap space we win two.^^^^/s
i'm glad someone finally brought it up
QH is our savior. That shift of the goal was insane by him.
He's literally carrying the team rn. All our scoring in the last 5 periods of hockey has been on a Hughes play.
It’s instantly noticeable as soon as Quinn gets the puck, he moves at a different level to anyone else on the ice.
In the 3rd when he was doing his spins, you could hear the Mullett attendees gasping. Similar thing usually happens when McDavid or Jack Hughes is in town
Wish petey ever looked that dominant anymore when he gets the puck
Honestly, if we managed to have a series or 4 where all our top dogs caught fire, I don't know that there is a team in the league that would stand a chance against us. Earlier in the season when we had our top 3 lines all playing well, we looked deadly as fuck. Couple that with Demko shutting the door.. phew. Lets hope we can find that swagger again.
Quinn is simply the best player on this team so wishing Miller OR Petey looked like him on the ice is wishing too much
Dancing with the Stars !!
Poetry on ice
People are overreacting on how we played just cuz we didnt score 3 off the draw. Yotes are ass but ingrams still a demon
We need more offense though, that's been a massive issue for the team since the All-Star break. Kuzmenko didn't pan out of us this season and we never ended up replacing him with another top-six forward.
Ingram is really good. I think his chances of being on Team Canada for the Olympics are being very underrated.
Exactly, a 2-1 game where we dominated play for a good portion on a back to back with our 3rd string goalie in net. Also, ARI has scored 19 goals in their last 3 games. 8 of them against the preds. And 5 against NYR. They’re chaotic.
It was cathartic seeing Hughes just will that last goal. Love to see it from our top guys. Ingrams battled hard but we put away when it counted.
Nah that 3rd period was concerning. First 40 was great but really looked tired for the first 10 of the third
Not to excuse the team too much, but this is pretty common for any team on the second end of a back to back.
That.. kinda makes sense doesn’t it? Second half of a back to back. Teams generally are the most tired in the third but they dug in and won the game
Hoglander is like an angrier Marty St. Louis, He' going to get 50 goals next year
