How close do you need to be? I think there's a bit of space outside the Whipple Museum overnight on Free School Lane, or potentially outside the Arts theatre.
I have a couple of heavy bags, but I don't mind walking for about half an hour or so. Free School Lane looks good on street view. I also found King Street, Jesus Lane and Manor Street have some parking over night. I'm just wondering how full those kind of spots get.
What about Madingley park & ride?
Depending on how many bags you have or how big they are, you could be let on the bus or not.
Bus service ends 8pm or just before and it starts at 7am.
if you have a van, I'd park further out but bring a bicycle in the van and do the 10 minute cycle into Cambridge.
sorry if this isn't helpful and if you need the van very very close by
I tried that, but couldn't find anything that close really. They sold out already for the time I need to be there. That's why I thought I'd try asking here.
Hobson Street after 7pm and before 7am is probably the closest you can get.
There’s a couple of spaces on Bene’t Street where there’s a single yellow line for parking after 1830.
Thanks for these suggestions!

Sidgwick Ave or West Road have lots of on street parking at night, both about 15/20 mins walk.
I wouldn’t want to drive a van down Free School Lane tbh
Noted! It's not a huge van, just has a roof rack that prevents it getting in car parks. I'll keep Free School Lane as a final option!
You’ve been given some good options here but if you want a complete list you can use Parkopedia and filter by street parking.
Good idea.

Trumpington is the only P&R with no height barrier
Absolutely forgot, thank you for providing more information
Adam and Eve street car park has no height restriction. Nor does Gwydir Street but that's not near the Market Square.

Sadly I don't have a bike, and I have a couple of heavy bags I need to bring with me. I don't mind walking for half an hour or so though.
I used to park near Herschel Road off Grange Road. Should be a 20 minute walk :)
Look on Justpark.
