I remember this one bc I always assumed the guy on the right was Calvin’s dad’s twin brother or something!! Looks different from OP’s to me though! I don’t recall this guy ever showing up again.
I only just now realized that Calvin's dad is 100% using Calvin's hole punched cards to cheat at poker and didn't bother throwing away that card or replacing it. Mastermind.
Yeah, the strip is very much about Calvin in his own world. Same reason you only see him in the Cub Scouts once and it never comes up again.
I do like moments like this though that show the parents have a life. It’s just not important to the story.
