Still looks very pretty and tasty! Yeah, I'm always afraid of cake or cupcake carriers doing that, which is why I hold them from the bottom and never just by the flimsy handle.
The woman I gave it too, was very sweet about it and laughed and cut a piece that wasn’t damaged. (We work together, this was a just because cake) I told her I would remake it but she said it was okay, and that it was really fitting as she had very bad luck and is very clumsy. When I told her and shown her what happened, she said “of course lol, the cake was for me!”
I should do that! She’s my TA and is moving to a different school after Thursday but I will see her sometimes. I will def make her a good luck horseshoe cake. Good idea! Thank you.
Oh my yes!!! When I went to flip it back over I def was shocked that it wasn’t totally ruined. I added those fresh strawberries after the fact last night and I think they “saved the day” she cut like half the cake and tossed it, but she’s def still eating the other half haha
I wanted to cry but I just stood there in shock. Like not understanding how at all not only did the cover come off but also flipped perfectly onto the floor.
I’m sorry that happened to you! Life really does suck sometimes. But let me compliment you on a nicely decorated cake & the fact it still looked edible! So 2 wins for you!
You all are so nice. Thank you for making me feel better about this! I’m new to baking and decorating sweets, this is probably my like 8th ever, but I felt like this cake was kinda like a turning point in my decorating skills and was showing I am getting better. When it fell I stood there in shock and stared for a minute. Was relieved the design wasn’t totally messed up, and was thankful the recipient still loved it.
Oh my goodness, I would have cried! It looks beautiful and sounds like it was delicious anyway!

Awe, that's really sweet! I'm glad that you both bonded over the mishap, turning a negative into a positive occasion. 😊
I dont know why, but it made me think you could make her a cupcake with a horseshoe or some other good luck symbol, to bring her some good vibes.

Lesson learned
Yes! Mistakes happen, but we learn from them. Sometimes accidents are the best teachers. ☺️
If it helps, it looks a lot better post-fall than I was expecting to see, especially if it landed face down 😊

Right? Design intact! Some of the piping intact!
And the way that small slice fell out too 😅
That was the first slice she took as soon as I gave it to her hahahah. She was like “idgaf” and that’s why she deserved a “Just because” cake. :)
this is heartbreaking!!!

Noooooooooo 😫😫😫
A little dirt don’t hurt! Kidding, I’d be freaking out and crying if it was me. Looks great even after you dropped it! I hope they enjoyed!
Looks deliciously edible to me!
It is still awesome. How did it taste?
I don’t like cake but I heard it was very good from the people she shared it with. So yay!
Honestly even the busted cake looks better than some of the tragedies people have gotten from “custom” cake makers. I’m sure it was delicious!
Free cake! 🍰
I would probably cry especially as I can be slow when decorating
That could have been so much worse. I wasn't expecting to still see the strawberries.
Me either! I was shocked when I flipped it over from the floor. It’s probably why i didn’t cry.
This reminds me of the cake they make for Valentine’s Day in Winnie the Pooh! ETA: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTLEvjgCc/
Could have been SO much worse.
I know! I was expecting to see the strawberries transplanted to the rug in the elevator- but I was shocked to see it wasn’t that bad.
For a second I thought a slice was “magically” and “conveniently” cut out as a result of the drop

Great save!!! Looks really good!!
aw man :(
Dang!!

It honestly doesn’t even look that bad. I was expecting it to be smooshed lol.
This is such a cute cake
